Bruno Mars scores the first single from the soundtrack of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1”. The powerful ballad “It Will Rain”, which was co-written and produced by The Smeezingtons, was released officially on iTunes on September 27th, while the soundtrack disc hit stores on November 8th, 2011. The R&B/pop singer described the new song as “think of the darker side of love”. I think this is perfection. I love the melody, the lyrics and the passion in Bruno’s voice. I think this is the highlight for me from the entire Twilight soundtrack. It’ll be hard to top Bruno but if Robert Pattinson has something up his sleeve…

Florence + The Machine will be releasing a two-disc special edition of their smash album Lungs, called Between Two Lungs with the track Heavy in Your Arms being released as the new single. The song was part of the Twilight Saga: Eclipse soundtrack. The singer said Heavy In Your Arms I suppose is about the weight of love, and how sometimes it can be a burden between two people. I felt a strong theme in the Twilight series was someone being rescued or being condemned, and is the love you carry bringing you down. The second disc will also feature a new track with Dizzee Rascal called You Got the Dirtee Love, as well as remixes and acoustic material.
The stars of hit TV show Glee are glum over the show’s smash hit soundtrack. For the singing high school stars claim they have been short changed by Sony Music over royalties from the No. 1 album Glee: The Music ” Journey to the Regionals. More than a million of the albums have been sold to fans but stars such as Corey Monteith and Mark Salling are grumbling they have received minimal payments from it. “I got 400 bucks from it going No. 1,” Monteith told a Washington D.C. radio show. Many of the stars are now choosing to sign with different record labels for their solo projects, including Salling and Matthew Morrison. “The Glee cast is furious because they feel they were misled by Sony,” an insider told the New York Post. “They have all complained to executive producer Ryan Murphy that they want a bigger share of the royalties. “Sony should have known better ” they kept their hands on money that could have been paid to the cast. “But by upsetting the biggest talent on TV, the label is cutting its nose off to spite its face. It is myopic, short-term thinking on their part.” Reps for Sony and Fox did not comment.
Since there is still over a month and a half to go until the third movie from the ?Twilight? saga, ?Eclipse?, hits theaters, fans will have to settle for the upcoming soundtrack to tide them over. It was recently announced that the first single from the movie will be released on May 17th and it will be from the author Stephenie Meyer?s favorite band Muse. The song is called ?Neutron Star Collision (Love is Forever). The soundtrack will hit stores on June 8th. I wonder who else will be joining Muse on the track list. Try not to create a stampede while going to get your copy.
The MacGruber soundtrack will hit store shelves on Tuesday, May 18, and Kristen Wiig is lending her vocal chops to a couple of the songs. I especially love the track ?Champion?. It?s 80s style music that?s guaranteed to stay stuck in your head for a long while. The Saturday Night Live comedienne is actually featured in three tracks total. Other songs on the soundtrack are from Toto, The Hives, The Black Keys, Michael Bolton and many more. There are a total of 15 tracks on the album. Go and grab it when it comes out! Kristen?s songs are enough to make you say that it?s worth it.
Green Day?s ?American Idiot? musical opened this past Tuesday to crappy reviews. One reporter said ?I wish I could tell you I loved ?American Idiot?. It looks good; it sounds good; it features a talented and hardworking cast. But I can’t. It’s fun. But it’s also, amid all the booming rock, a little dull.? Theatre critics are in love with the show?s soundtrack but most find that the musical lacks a good story. Another critic wrote ?Thanks for the music, Green Day. But, jeez, couldn’t you have spared a story? And a couple of characters who aren’t cliched stick-figures? Because that’s what a Broadway musical needs to make it more than just a music video or a concert. Unfortunately American Idiot comes up short on both those counts.?
Lady Gaga has sold over 1.5 million copies of her debut album ?The Fame? but is ineligible for the Best New Artist category at this year?s Grammy Awards due to her nomination for ?Just Dance? last year in the Best Dance Recording category. Jennifer Hudson also suffered a similar fate last year as she was snubbed for the Best New Artist category as she was previously nominated in the Outstanding Motion Picture Soundtrack Compilation category for ?Dreamgirls?. Now, Grammy president Neil Portnow is addressing the problem, saying ?This particular issue in the Best New Artist category is on our radar and I would expect changes to address it in next year’s voting.?
Due to the high demand for anything that pertains to the ?Twilight? franchise, in particular the music from the movie, the ?New Moon? soundtrack is going to be released a week earlier than originally planned. The label, Chop Shop/Atlantic, said that the demands of the fans were ?overwhelming and unprecedented.? The soundtrack is now slated to come out tomorrow, October 16th. Congratulations to all those ?Twilight? fanatics out there. Don?t expect the same result with the movie though. Miracles can only happen on screen and not in promoting them. There?s just a bit over a month until the movie comes out anyway. I?m sure they can wait.
Supposedly after the first season wraps up, a ?Glee? music tour could very well be underway come the spring of 2010. Talks for such a tour are still in the early stages and nothing is 100 percent confirmed as of yet. However, I think that it?s a genius idea! The show has been doing amazingly on iTunes, selling tracks from aired episodes and the first soundtrack, which goes on sale on November 3, will probably sell like hotcakes. Fox Broadcasting president Kevin Reilly has coyly suggested the future of a tour saying ?Certainly if these kids become stars in their own right, who knows? Live appearances. Albums. There’s lots of things that could happen.?
The past year has treated many artists in the music industry very well but there are also others that didn?t have as much luck with their new releases. The biggest albums of the year sales-wise are Taylor Swift?s ?Fearless? which sold 3.7 million, Michael Jackson?s ?#1?s? which sold 3 million, Beyonce?s ?I Am? Sasha Fierce? which sold 2.4 million and the soundtrack for the movie ?Twilight? which sold 2.2 million. However, not everyone can do well. The Jonas Brothers fever seems to be dying down because the boys only managed to sell 520,000 copies of their new album. Disney starlet Demi Lovato also bombed selling only 240,000 copies of her album. Jordin Sparks, Green Day and Kelly Clarkson are also on the list of so-called failures.
Death Cab for Cutie, the first official band to be penning a song for the movie soundtrack of ?New Moon?, revealed that they were invited to a special screening of the movie ? a five-hour long version of it. Guitarist Chris Walla, the only member of the band whose admitted to reading the books, explains that the cut didn?t include any ?effects or Foley or music or anything? and they ended up declining the invite due to schedule conflicts. Death Cab for Cutie?s video for their ?New Moon? song ?Meet Me on the Equinox? will be released on MTV.com on September 13th.

The movie might not even be in theaters yet but the soundtrack for the vampire movie ?Twilight? has snatched the top spot on the Billboard charts from rock icons AC/DC. The soundtrack has sold around 165,000 copies last week. 29% of which, or 48,000 were digital downloads. The soundtrack for the movie scored the second biggest digital download week for a soundtrack since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking album download sales in 2004. The biggest digital week honor goes to ?High School Musical 2? back in August 2007 when the soundtrack sold 62,000 downloads in a week. If the soundtrack is any indication, the movie ?Twilight? is going to be huge!
