Josh Farro Talks Paramore

Ξ December 24th, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Paramore, Rock |

It was a bit of a shock to hear about guitarist Josh Farro and drummer Zac Farro’s departure from Paramore but it seems that the two rock stars have been wanting to leave for quite some time. In an official statement on Josh’s blog, the brothers gave some insight as to what exactly has been going on and what led to their exit. Josh wrote “I had a statement typed ready to post to you guys but Hayley released one without my permission.” The full statement went on about other issues with lead singer Hayley Williams and how she was treated by the label as more important than the rest of the band. Josh even wrote “In reality, what started as natural somehow morphed into a manufactured product of a major label, riding on the coattails of ‘Hayley’s dream.’” Yikes. What do you have to say about that Hayley?

Is Hayley Williams Going to be on Glee?

Ξ December 10th, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Glee, Paramore |

Cory Monteith recently went on Twitter to share a picture of Paramore lead singer Hayley Williams on the set of “Glee” which had many wondering if the rock star was going to be on the show. However, Hayley said that she was only on set to visit and not film a cameo. When sources asked about her visit, Hayley said “A few of the cast members had reached out to me over Twitter a while back. They all seemed really cool and down to earth, so when Cory invited us to come and see the set I was stoked. We don’t do a whole lot of TV appearances and their world is a lot different than what we’re used to. I just had a good time seeing everyone in their element.”

Travis Barker VS Drugs

Travis Barker is on a mission to help kids find cool alternatives to alcohol and drugs and it’s been reported that the rock star is starting by donating a bunch of drum kits to New York City schools. Sources close to Travis say that he’s partnering up with fellow punk rocker Toby Morse from the band H2O to promote sober living through music among young students and to spread the word that not every rock star is a drug addict. It’s being said that Travis plans to donate between 10 to 20 drum kits a year to NYC school’s through Toby’s organization “One Life One Chance”.

Billie Joe Armstrong Signs for More American Idiot Performance Dates

Ξ December 3rd, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Green Day, Music, Music Bands |

A lot of Broadway aficionados and Green Day fans will have the time of their lives come January 1. The rock band’s lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong was originally slated to take over the role of St. Jimmy in “American Idiot” for eight performances but the rock star will now return for the role for 50 performances in 2011. Billie Joe will be on stage on January 1 to January 9, January 18 to January 30 and February 10 to February 27. If his September performance is any indication of how the show is going to be, I think it’s going to be a great run for the Green Day singer.

Black Eyed Peas to Headline Super Bowl

Sources are reporting that The Black Eyed Peas are set to headline the Super Bowl Half Time Show at the 2011 championship game on February 6th. The hip hop band will be the first urban music performers to play the Super Bowl since the infamous Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction in 2004. Over the past couple of years, rock stars like Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, the Rolling Stones and Prince have been given the coveted spot. But BEP seems to have planned this perfectly as the Super Bowl performance will lead up to the release of their upcoming album “The Beginning”.

Miley Cyrus Ditches Original AMAs Song

Miley Cyrus was originally set to perform the Poison hit “Every Rose has Its Thorn” at the 2010 American Music Awards held at the Nokia Theatre LA Live in Los Angeles this past Sunday. However, the Disney singer/actress made a last minute switch and performed her song “Love and Forgiveness” off of her album “Can’t Be Tamed” instead. I wonder if it’s because of the reports that her parents are actually going through a divorce because her mom allegedly had an affair with Poison rock star Bret Michaels. It’s a big possibility. In any case, Miley did well on her performance. I’m glad to see that she managed to keep herself together through these tough times.

My Chemical Romance has a new video – SING

Ξ November 19th, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Music Bands, My Chemical Romance, Video, song |

The band has released a new music video, this time for their song “SING”. The video is a bit more epic than any of the other stuff released today as it actually features all the guys from My Chemical Romance in a few very simple action scenes. Unfortunately, that’s pretty much all the good to be expected out of this video as the music is very, very repetitive and even annoying and the lyrics aren’t really any better. My Chemical Romance seem to have gone to a pop/rock sound rather than their old alternative rock and emo days. From what you can see and hear from this video, it’s not a very good change.

Billy Corgan VS Pavement

Ξ November 18th, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Smashing Pumpkins |

15 years ago, Smashing Pumpkins lead singer Billy Corgan ignited a feud with indie rock band Pavement. 15 years later, the rock star is still at it. As you all know, Smashing Pumpkins is re-launching for a new album and tour later this month. One of the tour stops is in Brazil and Billy has just learned that he will be sharing the stage with his rivals Pavement. Billy then took to his Twitter to comment, saying “Just found out SP is playing with Pavement in Brazil. It’s gonna be 1 of those New Orleans type funerals. I say that because they represent the death of the alternative dream, and we follow with the affirmation of life part. Funny how those who pointed the big finger of ‘sell out’ are the biggest offenders now. Yawn. they have no love … We’ll be the band up there playing NEW songs because we have the love.” Talk about bad blood.

The White Stripes have been on a hiatus since 2007 but lead singer Jack White recently revealed that he and Meg White are headed back into the studio to record another album. The rock star said “We thought we’d do a lot of things that we’d never done: a full tour of Canada, a documentary, coffee-table book, live album, a boxed set. It was one long project that took almost three years.
Now that we’ve gotten a lot of that out of our system, Meg and I can get back in the studio and start fresh.” I can’t wait to see what they’ve got in store.

Grave robbers have hit the burial site where Slipknot bassist Paul Gray was laid to rest back in May and took two cherished statues. Due to this horrible crime, the rest of the rock band is on a mission to get the stuff back. The remaining band members posted a message on their website saying “There were statues of a gargoyle as well as a Buddha that were placed at Paul’s grave by his friends and family that were taken. We ask that whoever did this, please return the items no questions asked. If anyone has any information about the stolen items please let us know.”

Slash and his wife Perla Ferrar have recently reconciled after initially filing for divorce. Now, the rock star has filed for a dismissal of his divorce in LA County Superior Court. Hopefully, the court will sign off on the dismissal. If both of them want to be back in the marriage, I don’t see any reason why they shouldn’t get a second chance to make things work. I wish them both the best of luck and I hope things will be sweeter for them this time around. They should learn not to rush into making any decisions so no one has to be troubled with this kind of thing again.

Madonna is opening a chain of gyms

Ξ October 26th, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Madonna |

This seems to be Madonna’s latest idea for doing something with her time and also making a profit from her name. The singer is planning on opening a chain of gyms that will bear the name Hard Candy Fitness. This is what her partner, Mark Mastrov, had to say on the matter: “Hard Candy Fitness will be a reflection of Madonna’s point of view and will reflect her input on every detail, including music space, light and design cues. Madonna touch will be everywhere.” Even though Madonna’s blessing would probably be enough to make the chain a hit among her subjects, not to mention her involvement in their design, it still isn’t a good idea to associate “candy” and “fitness” in the name.

Kings of Leon VS Arcade Fire

Ξ October 25th, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Kings of Leon |

Kings of Leon drummer Nathan Followill recently took a cheap dig at the band Arcade Fire in a recent interview. The rock star said “Now it’s cool to have 14 people in your band doing everything but contributing musically, running around with a helmet on your head, hitting it with a drumstick. You gotta look at what you’re in this for: the love of music? The fame? You can have all that if you’re smart and play your cards right and don’t become a dick.” He’s apparently talking about something that band member Richard Parry has done in various performances. I think the diss is unjustified. Arcade Fire has consistently put out great albums and seem completely committed to their music and fans. I can’t say the same about Kings of Leon who keeps complaining about their mainstream popularity.

Vince Neil Pleads Not Guilty

Motley Crue lead singer Vince Neil recently put in a plea of not guilty to a misdemeanor drunk driving charge from back in June. If you remember, the rock star was pulled over for speeding in Las Vegas while being very over the legal alcohol limit. Though he was not present for the hearing, Vince’s lawyer put in the plea for him. A trial has been set for January 11th. At least he would get to enjoy the holidays before he can get possibly get carted off to prison. Why plead not guilty when all evidence says you are? If he was way over the alcohol limit, I say just throw him in jail. He was extremely lucky that he didn’t hurt anyone.

According to the band’s manager Irving Azoff, Van Halen is reportedly plotting a tour for next year. Irving revealed the news while fulfilling his duties as Live Nation Ticketmaster chairman at a concert promoters meeting this past Monday. If you’re a fan of the rock icons, don’t get too excited though. Irving has broken promises before. He also promised that Van Halen would have a tour this year but it never happened. It would be cool if the 2011 tour does happen though. But they need to make up for making us anticipate a tour this year that never took place.

Paul McCartney would like to share with the world and he’s going to do it by posting his extensive collection of artwork, videos and master recordings online. The project will give fans access to some items that have never been released before, including never before seen Live Aid footage of the rock singer. Hewlett-Packard is taking on the project and they are treating it with immense care. They already have a team of between 30 and 100 people devoted to it. If this turns out well, HP may approach other artists about posting their collections online as well. In that case, I hope all does go well.

Linkin Park on Top

Ξ September 24th, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Billboard, Linkin Park |

Linkin Park’s album ‘A Thousand Suns’ has reached the top spot on the Billboard charts, with 241,000 units sold. It’s a pretty big slide from the band’s 2007 release ‘Minutes to Midnight’ which sold 623,000 units and debuted at number 1 as well. But they’re still number 1 so that should count for something. The music industry isn’t the same as it was before. As far as singles go, the rock stars’ hit song ‘The Catalyst’ hit number 27 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100. They’re doing well for themselves but I really think they could be doing better. But I still extend my congratulations to the band for having a number 1 album.

Motley Crue lead singer Vince Neil has once again gone on the attack against Sharon Osbourne, this time in his autobiography ‘Tattoos & Tequila: To Hell and Back with one of Rock’s Most Notorious Front Men’. The rock star said “It just really sickens me today to watch everybody fawning all over Sharon Osbourne. She’s a talent judge on TV and she has her own show and this and that. This is the most evil, shittiest woman I’ve ever met in my life. She would fucking have you killed if it was to her advantage … If people really knew.” You have to wonder if he’s speaking genuinely or is just bitter about her success.

Noel Gallagher blasts today’s

Ξ September 9th, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Oasis |

Rock ‘n’ roll star Noel Gallagher has blasted today’s “dull” clean-cut music stars. Noel thinks that rockers at the moment are too boring and should be wilder. While at the GQ Men Of The Year Awards, the 43-year-old told British newspaper the Daily Star: “The showbiz scene is really boring these days, everyone’s so dull. “The old days of wild partying seem to be a thing of the past.” But Gallagher is sure that some new rockers will try and bring back the raucous nature of showbiz. He said: “There will definitely be a new wave of coolness, it’s just a matter of time.” Noel added: “It’s about time a new set of proper rock stars came out.” Although Noel himself won’t be showing musicians the wild ways of rock ‘n’ roll. He said: “My days of waking up with someone else’s chandelier in my bed are over, I’ve got kids now, I’m more chilled out.”

Taylor Momsen Back Peddles

Ξ August 27th, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Rihanna |

Taylor Momsen is in the business of saying inconsistent nonsense. During an interview, the former ‘Gossip Girl’ actress turned rock singer was called out on describing Rihanna as a “rock wannabe”. Taylor back peddled and said that she was misquoted. She said “[I was] arguing the difference between rock vs. pop, and that it’s a very pop-oriented world at the moment, and that there is no rock. And people that dress [like rock stars] and have guitars in their music — that’s the closest thing audiences have to rock right now, and we’re looking to bring back a real rock band. I wasn’t insulting Rihanna. Rihanna’s great.” Assuming you’re a rock star and implying that you’re part of the only real rock band is a little presumptuous.

Kings of Leon Singer Takes Ego Down a Notch

Kings of Leon lead singer Caleb Followill regrets talking smack about the band’s huge hit ‘Sex on Fire’. The rocks tar said that he was ashamed of calling the song a “piece of shit” and called his new fans “not fucking cool”. Caleb said “For a while there, I turned into someone I wasn’t proud of. I wasn’t appreciative of the admiration we were getting, and I said some things that I’m ashamed of. I hurt people who were genuine fans of the band because I was embarrassed to look out from the stage every night and see people who weren’t like me.”

Pink Floyd Albums Off the Internet

Many of Pink Floyd’s albums have been taken off the internet after a distribution deal with the iconic rock band’s record label ran out. ‘The Wall’, ‘Animals’, ‘Wish You Were Here’, and ‘The Final Cut’ have all been taken down from online digital stores because the contract with EMI actually expired on June 30. Reps for the band are working on securing a new deal to bring the music back for digital downloads. If they knew that the deal was set to expire, I wish they could have worked harder on securing a new one before it did so fans didn’t have to wait in limbo.

After five weeks at the top of the mountain, Eminem’s album ‘Recovery’ was beaten by rock band Avenged Sevenfold’s new release ‘Nightmare’. It was a close call though with the rapper coming in less than 4,000 units behind the rock stars on Nielsen Soundscan charts. I find it very cool for a rock band to make its way to the top of the charts especially in the world of such mainstream sounding music these days. I wonder if they’ll be able to hold strong to the number one spot for more than just one week. Congratulations to Avenged Sevenfold! And well done to Eminem for making it to five weeks.

If the reports are true that Steven Tyler will become part of the new panel of judges on American Idol, the rock singer will have a crazy schedule travelling the country on top of his band being on tour all over the country. Aerosmith is currently in the middle of a nationwide tour and it’s scheduled to roll through the end of September. If you know your timelines, that puts it long after the production begins on the reality TV talent show. A rep for the band still won’t confirm that Steven is locked up for AI but she did say that no matter what “The Aerosmith tour will continue on for its full scheduled run with Steven Tyler.”

Police reportedly investigated two of Bret Michaels’ tour buses earlier this week and discovered not only pot, but also several other illegal drugs that are classified as Schedule II controlled substances. The rock singer was apparently not on the bus with the illegal drugs and no arrests were made. It couldn’t have been that much if no one was arrested but I’d like to think that Bret would be smarter than that to get into that stuff after everything he’s been through. He should really be laying off that stuff after all the health scares that he’s had just this past year.

Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry suffered some injuries from a car crash in Middleborough, Massachusetts on Thursday. The rock star was transported to Morton Hospital and Medical Center to assess the damage. Luckily, the injuries were pretty minor and he has since been released from the hospital. The crash occurred on Route 44, where Joe was hit from behind by a sedan. It’s good that he wasn’t hurt too bad. I wish him a speedy recovery from the injuries that he sustained. Stay healthy! Why are rock stars so injury prone? Bono’s been injured. Jon Bon Jovi’s injured. And now Joe. Huh.
