SINGER Johnny Borrell says his band Razorlight nearly missed their set at Chelmsford’s V Festival due to one of their sound technicians falling out of the tour bus on the motorway.
Johnny, 29, said: “I didn’t personally have a drama but in Razorlight, well we did have a big drama, because one of our roadies, you know, he got dead p***ed, and he was on the bus, and he sort of fell out the door of the bus when it was moving along at sort of 70 miles an hour.”
He added to Absolute radio: “I think maybe when he got on the bus, it wasn’t moving and he was already p***ed, and sort of thought, all right I’ll get up and go and take a p*** around the corner or something.”
The sound technician, who goes by the name of Frank, was rushed to hospital where he is now doing well.
The band rocked the V stage at the festival and Borrell said that he was not on the bus at the time.
Those who witnessed Frank’s accident were left distraught, Johnny said, as injured Frank was rolled off the motorway to avoid the traffic.

The members of Razorlight recently admitted that when their former drummer Andy Burrows quit the band, they actually considered pulling the plug on the whole thing. Singer Johnny Borrell had the following to say about that time: “It was not at all certain that we were going to carry on. We had kind of rehearsed for it because we had exactly the same situation just after the first album, where Christian Smith-Pancorvo left, then Andy came in. David fitted in right away. He’s a really great guy and an excellent drummer so it feels new and exciting.” Sometimes it seems that they talk about having a band like being married. Even if they had disbanded, they would?ve probably reformed with a new name, so what?s the difference. It?s not like they would give up their careers just for the sake of a drummer.

Razorlight singer Johnny Borrell wants the band’s next album to have a dance feel.
Borrell, 29, said: “It’s going to be a different sound, I want to collaborate with someone. I’m thinking a house music extravaganza.
“I was sifting through old things the other day and found a piece of paper with some songs from Carl Barat. That was another era. I wish The Libertines all the best if they do get back together.”

Razorlight?s label apparently offered their now former drummer Andy Burrows a solo deal and front man Johnny Borrell is furious that his former band mate?s new project might take their places in the charts. A source said this about the ongoing conflict between Johnny Borrell and Andy Burrows: “Johnny’s arrogance could come back to haunt him because there are plenty of people at the record label who want to move over from Razorlight’s account to make sure Andy gets the recognition he deserves.” Well, it would seem that Andy Burrows? reasons for leaving the band were accurate. Still, why is Johnny Borrell so worried about their place in the charts? Or is that a function of record deals as well? Maybe he?ll cool down from now on.
