MTV News caught up with Britney Spears for a little interview where they asked the money question of whether or not the pop singer will be releasing a new single. In typical Britney fashion, she candidly spilled the beans that there is going to be a fourth single from the “Femme Fatale†album and it will be “Criminalâ€. The mid tempo track will be the follow up to “I Wanna Goâ€. I like the choice. After 3 up tempo singles, it should be nice to get something to slow things down a bit. Expect the new single to drop on radios soon. Britney also said that she already has an idea in mind for the music video. I can’t wait to see that. z
Chris Brown showed off some acrobatic moves while performing during the 2011 MTV VMAs at Nokia Theatre LA Live in Los Angeles this past Sunday. The 22-year old R&B singer started off the dance medley with “Yeah 3x†and ended with “Beautiful Peopleâ€. He did all this while he soared in the air with two of his backup dancers. It was a spectacular performance and I wasn’t at all surprised when he got a standing ovation, including ones from Kanye West and Justin Bieber. Chris later took to his Twitter, saying “Thx to all my fans who showed support tonight! Had a blast! Congrats to all the winners!!!! Be safe tonight! Love you!â€

Lady Gaga stopped by the MTV offices in Times Square yesterday to announce her big surprise regarding the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. I had initially thought that the princess of pop was going to be the host of this year’s show, with there still not being one announced. It wasn’t what the singer announced but her news was still a doozey. Lady Gaga has been confirmed to kick off the show, which will air live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on August 28. How the rest of the show can live up to an epic opening number by Lady Gaga, I don’t know.
Cobra Starship recently premiered the music video for their song “You Make Me Feel†via MTV. The synth pop band’s very catchy, albeit sounding like a Calvin Harris rip off, single is the lead track from their upcoming album “Night Shadesâ€. The track also features upcoming rapper Sabi. In any case, I like the song. The beat is hot and Sabi’s hook is blazing. As for the video, I think it’s just meh. It’s still that basic club and party concept where lead singer Gabe Saporta has fun in a photo booth while Sabi works it out on the pole.

The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards held this past Sunday managed to pull in 11.4 million viewers which makes it the best for any MTV telecast since 2002’s 11.9 million. It was also the third most watched telecast in MTV history and up 27 percent from last year. Chelsea Handler, who hosted the show, definitely has a lot to celebrate about. She said “Just got word…Highest rated VMA’s since 2002. Good job, MTV! Good job, kiddo.” Chelsea also thanked her fans on Monday for tuning in, saying “Thanks for watching everyone. I know I had a good night when I wake up with tape on my back & glitter on my face.”
While at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles this past Sunday, Lady Gaga announced the name of her new album – ‘Born this Way’. The 25-year old princess of pop made the announcement while accepting the awards for Video of the Year for ‘Bad Romance’. The singer then sang to the audience, giving fans a sneak peek performance from her new album. Lady Gaga sang “How beautiful in my way cuz God makes no mistakes. I’m on the right track. Baby, I was born this way.” If that’s not enough to excite you about her new music, I don’t know what will.

Nicki Minaj will be performing her hit single ‘Your Love’ at the 2010 MTV VMAs Pre-Show on Sunday, September 12. This will be the first-ever televised performance from the female rapper and I can’t wait to see what she’s got. Nicki said “I am truly honored to be a part of this year’s VMAs. Just yesterday I was an underground female rapper. See Barbz? Dreams do come true.” Starting on Tuesday, she will launch a Twitter contest in which 10 lucky fans will win a front row spot to watch her perform. Winners will be announced on Friday, September 10.
Usher is set to hit the stage at the 2010 MTV VMAs and he couldn’t be more excited. The 31-year old R&B singer shared “It is an honor to once again be a part of the MTV Video Music Awards. I can’t wait to perform for my fans all around the world who have helped to make this album a success and my being here possible. You never know what’s gonna happen on an MTV VMA stage…I look forward to making it a night to remember.” I wonder if Usher knows about Ne-Yo getting cut off the performers’ list to make room for him.
Kanye West is set to take the stage at the BET Awards on June 27. That would mark the rapper’s first awards show performance since interrupting Taylor Swift at the 2009 MTV VMAs. Kanye is nominated for two BET awards including Video of the Year for ‘Run This Town’ with Jay-Z and Rihanna. On Tuesday, he performed at 3 different high schools in the Chicago area as part of the Kanye West Foundation’s annual ‘Stay in School’ event. Kanye also made an appearance at a Manhattan nightclub for a listening party featuring songs from his upcoming album ‘Good Ass Job’. It’s about time he got back in the spotlight!
Kanye West is back with a new song called ‘Power’ which features soul singer Dwele. The song is off of the rapper’s forthcoming album, tentatively called ‘Good Ass Job’. In the song, Kanye attacks Saturday Night Live for mocking him after his infamous interruption of Taylor Swift’s win during last year’s MTV VMAs. The lyrics go “F–k SNL and the whole cast, tell them Yeezy said they can kiss my whole ass / More specifically, they can kiss my a–hole / I’m an a–hole? You n—as got jokes. They say I was the abomination of Obama’s nation, well that’s a really bad way to start the conversation / At the end of the day, God Dammit, I’m killing this s–t, I know damn well they feeling this shit / I don’t need your p—y, b–ch, ’cause I’m on my own d**k.”
Katy Perry and Timbaland have a new video about to come out for the song ?If We Ever Meet Again?, te next single off of the rapper?s new album ?Shock Value II?. Timbaland has spoken to MTV about the music video saying ?I wanna make something deep. I don?t know if I wanna make it like a relationship. I wanna make it like she saved my life with whatever depression I was going through, whether it be drug depression, weight-loss depression – something. ? Will she be around if I go through this again?? The video was directed by Paul ?Coy? Allen.
Taylor Swift recently showed off a new do ? sleek, straight and with bangs. According to MTV News, the 19-year old country singer has a new fan in legendary actor Clint Eastwood. MTV recently asked what Clint music preferences were at the time and he named off some of 2009?s biggest acts. Clint said ?Taylor Swift? I kind of like her. I have [listened to her music]; I was listening to some the other day. And I think I like her. I?d be pretty embarrassed if I?m going, ?Taylor who?? Sometimes you listen to pop radio, just to see what?s going on.?
Chris Brown has a new music video featuring R&B singer Cassie called for their single ?Crawl?. The music video director, Joseph Kahn, talked about it with MTV, saying ?The entire video for ?Crawl? was his idea. I?m talking every single idea in there is Chris?, and it?s pretty awesome. It?s an interesting video for me, because it?s so rare that music videos ever try to achieve anything emotional. With ?Crawl? you feel it in here [points to his heart]. Chris just basically told me a story of what he felt this video was going to be, with his heart glowing and how he?s, like, cold. It is a very personal story. But it?s told in such a graphic manner that I fell in love with the idea. It?s Chris? story. Period. I am the pencil that put it down on the paper.?
Demi Lovato has a new music video out for her song ?Remember December?. The 17-year old singer recently spoke to MTV about it, saying ?The music video relates to the song in a way that a girl has so much to say to the guy, and it feels like he?s not listening, and she wants him to remember everything that they had. And so instead of having a love interest in this video, it?s all about being fierce and kind of, like, taking control as a girl. It?s like girl empowerment. Yeah, divas!? Or it can just be the Disney star?s way of saying that she doesn?t need a man in her life.
Jared Leto and the rest of his band 30 Seconds to Mars have a new video out for ?Kings + Queens?. The video features bicyclists cruising around LA. Jared went on his Twitter after the shoot, saying ?Shoot was insane and amazing. Just realized the first time we played KINGS+QUEENS together was up there overlooking LA. Fitting. ? After a two year battle to get their new album completed and released, it?s finally ready and the singer/actor couldn?t be more excited. Jared told MTV ?We spent two years of our lives working on that record, and it was us against the world. We didn?t have outside influence or help, we didn?t have a label, we had us, betting the farm, and pushing ourselves.?
Tokio Hotel took home the “Best Group” award at the MTV European Music Awards in Berlin beating out the likes of Black Eyed Peas, Jonas Brothers, Kings of Leon and Green Day. Bill, Tom, Georg and Gustav also rocked an epic performance of their international single “World Behind My Wall” complete with insane pyro and explosive stage effects. The track appears on the recently released Humanoid album.
I?ve been waiting to hear what Beyonce has to say about the whole VMA incident revolving around Kanye West and Taylor Swift since it happened. When recently asked about the incident that will go down in MTV history, Beyonce said ?Well, I knew his intentions, and I knew he was standing up for art; and he told me before, when they said the nominees, he’s like, ‘You have this award. And when they didn’t call my name he was, like, completely shocked. And when he walked on the stage, I was like, ‘No, no, no!’ and then he spoke, and I was like, ‘Oh, no, no, no!’ But in the end, it ended up being a great night, and Taylor Swift did get her moment ? and I didn’t have to make an acceptance speech.?
MTV has decided that they will air ?Gone Too Far?, the documentary series on young drug addicts that the late DJ AM finished just three days before he died from an accidental overdose. The network says that they got the consent and support of the late entertainer?s family before choosing to run the eight-episode series which features him working with real life drug addicts and their families to help them overcome substance abuse. MTV released a statement saying ?It is our hope through airing this show that people will get to see the side of Adam that we knew and loved, not just the celebrity DJ, but the honest and caring person who gave so much of himself to help others.? The series will premiere on Monday.
All American Rejects front man Tyson Ritter recently told MTV that he would be absolutely thrilled to be able to work with Barbadian singer Rihanna on a track or two for an upcoming album. He said ?I actually met with her a couple of weeks ago and the funny thing is, I actually don’t remember half of it. I remember the first half of meeting her, but then, as the night progressed, somebody decided to drink too much Jameson..But seriously, she’s such a sweet girl that I’m gonna try to give her a little piece of my heart. I wanna get in a room with her, and I wanna see what flies. I’ve got some songs for her, like, little things written, and I wanna see what she wants. See if she wants something aggressive and rock, and I’ve also kinda got some really fun, clubby ideas.?
My Blog Friends
Kanye West seemed to think that if he continued to apologize for what he did at Sunday night?s MTV VMAs, he can make up for what he did. If he didn?t sound like someone younger than Taylor Swift in his apologies, it might. The rapper released another apology via his blog earlier this week and it?s just as crappy as the first one. He said ?I feel like Ben Stiller in ?Meet the Parents? when he messed up everything and Robert De Niro asked him to leave? That was Taylor’s moment and I had no right in any way to take it from her. I am truly sorry.? Who uses a stupid comedy as an analogy for his apology?
The All-American Rejects got busy in New York City this week starting off with a special performance of their hit single “Gives You Hell.”
They took the stage with house band Wale at MTV’s VMAs show where front man Tyson Ritter debuted a new glittery look. After rocking the proverbial house, Ritter caught up with MTV news
and confirmed the long standing rumor that he will in fact be teaming up with pop powerhouse Rihanna for a yet to be recorded track. With AAR’s stock rising by the day, it only made sense for the quartet to cap their week by ringing the opening bell for the New York Stock Exchange
The All-American Rejects’ album When The World Comes Down featuring “Gives You Hell” and “I Wanna” is in stores now. For more information visit allamericanrejects.com

Taylor Swift has spoken out about the rude and bizarre incident at the 2009 MTV VMAs involving Kanye West, all the while remaining as humble and as professional as ever. Those are some words that you will never hear being used to describe the rapper. When asked about the moments on stage, the country singer said ?Well, I was standing on stage because I was really excited because I had just won the award. And then I was really excited because Kanye West was on stage. And then I wasn’t so excited anymore after that.? Celebrities left and right offered their support to Taylor after the incident but Taylor herself doesn?t hold any ill-will, saying ?I don’t know him, and I’ve never met him, so? I don’t want to start anything because I had a great night tonight.?
Madonna was at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards which were held at New York City?s Radio City Music Hall last Sunday. The 51-year old singer spoke during the Michael Jackson tribute at the beginning of the show and even introduced for Janet Jackson?s performance. The Queen of Pop spoke about her love of Michael and the things that were parallel in their lives. She said that the late singer was ?so unique, so original, so rare. He was a king.? I only have one comment for Madonna though. When talking about someone you?re supposed to be paying a tribute to, I don?t think talking about yourself more is an appropriate thing to do.
