Lykke Li Covers Unchained Melody

Ξ October 21st, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Live, Music, Singers |

Phil Spector turned “Unchained Melody” into a 20th century classic with his Wall of Sound Righteous Brothers production. But on a Triple J radio session, Lykke Li takes all of that away on an intimated acoustic cover. The singer teased the audience about the song’s prominent placement in the movie “Ghost” before performing her version. All I have to say is – amazing! This rendition really impresses me. There’s so much soul in her voice and her vocal range really shines as the guitarist delicately strums along. This is true talent guys. You can’t simply take any classic and turn it into such a work of art and Lykke Li did it beautifully.

New Video from Frankmusik – No ID

Ξ September 16th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Music, New Single, Video |

Frankmusik recently premiered the music video for his song “No ID”. The catchy pop track serves as the official single from the British singer’s album “Do It in the AM”, which is set for release on September 26th/27th in the UK and US respectively. I hope this song helps save him from a flop because his first single was just a poor choice. As for the video, Frankmusik takes a lot of inspiration from the classic movie “Grease”. The concept was actually pretty cool and totally fit his looks. I enjoyed every second of the clip. What do you think?

Joe Jonas to Hit the Big Screen

Ξ September 9th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Music People, News, Singers |

It looks like things are going good for Joe Jonas. Not only has he set off with a solo music career but he’s also going to get a chance to be a real Hollywood movie star. If anyone knows anything about Hollywood, you can work on a film all you want but if you don’t have financing, you have a problem. That’s apparently been the struggle Joe was facing for a while but good news came recently. The pop singer said “I was in Mexico City last week and my manager called me and said, ‘The movie’s financed!’ I was, like, in tears. [It's about a] young man who is finding himself. The storyline is still bare bones, but I will say he has a specific dream that he wants to accomplish, and it’s the good and the bad he has to go through to get there. It’s going to be an older-feeling kind of movie. It’s a little bit of everything. One of my favorite movies is The Four Feathers, and that has everything. It has funny, romantic, passionate. I want to do something like that.”

I’m glad to see that things are going well for Lenny. I’m pumped to hear some new music from him and I’m really looking forward to seeing him in “Hunger Games”. Are you ready for a dose of Lenny this year?

Ξ July 7th, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Nine Inch Nails, Trent Reznor |

Nine Inch Nails lead singer Trent Reznor will be scoring David Finchers new movie about Facebook, The Social Network, with frequent collaborator Atticus Ross. The rock star said I’ve always loved David’s work but quite honestly I wondered what would draw him to tell that story. When I actually read the script and realized what he was up to, I said goodbye to that free time I had planned. The film opens October 1 in the U.S. with the record likely available a couple of weeks ahead of that. Given how surprisingly dark the movie trailer is, Im interested in what Trent will come up with.

Miley Cyrus Talks Double Standards

Ξ June 14th, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus |

Miley Cyrus is showing off that she has some insightful observational skills by talking about what she considers to a double standard in her attitudes about her skanky ways versus someone like Zac Efron. The pop star who claims she doesnt listen to pop music said Well, I love Zac Efron, but whats he selling? Hes gorgeous, hes hot, I dont go see his movie because Im like, Hes such a fantastic actor. Hes a great actor, but hes hot. Hes just not in a leotard with his legs out. He has his shirt off. So whats the difference? In High School Musical hes in basketball shorts and his cutoff tank top and all the girls are dying. It just isnt as obvious when guys do it. I was on tour with the Jonas Brothers my first year and boy bands get away with a lot. For girls, its always going to be harder. Thats not an excuse, it just means we have to work harder. She has a point. And if you repeat that to someone else, I will hunt you down.

Muse on Eclipse Soundtrack

Since there is still over a month and a half to go until the third movie from the ?Twilight? saga, ?Eclipse?, hits theaters, fans will have to settle for the upcoming soundtrack to tide them over. It was recently announced that the first single from the movie will be released on May 17th and it will be from the author Stephenie Meyer?s favorite band Muse. The song is called ?Neutron Star Collision (Love is Forever). The soundtrack will hit stores on June 8th. I wonder who else will be joining Muse on the track list. Try not to create a stampede while going to get your copy.

Robert Pattinson to Play Kurt Cobain

Universal Pictures is in talks with Kurt Cobain?s widow Courtney Love to produce a biopic based on his life with the band Nirvana. The Hole singer has agreed to be involved if she can decide the main aspects of the project, like who will portray Kurt and herself. Courtney picks Scarlett Johansson for herself and Robert Pattinson for Kurt. Both actors can undoubtedly pull off the parts and apparently, Rob thinks the same as when news of the part became Hollywood knowledge, he started getting in contact with Courtney non-stop! I wonder if he?s going to sing for that movie if it pushes through.

Beyonce recently shot a guest spot in Alicia Keys? new music video ?Put it in a Love Song? in the Morro da Conceicao slum of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil this past Tuesday. The song is from Alicia?s latest album ?The Element of Freedom?. Speaking of Beyonce, the R&B singer is also rumored to star in the remake of the classic ?A Star is Born?. Russell Crowe may play the aging, alcoholic musician who mentors and falls in love with Beyonce?s character. I?m all for the classics but I?m not sure about the remake of that movie. Beyonce is definitely no Barbra Streisand.

Ke$ha recently revealed that she finds rednecks hot and that she even went and tried to make a move on a celebrity that portrayed a redneck in one of his movies. The singer told Details magazine ?I went to a club opening with Katy Perry about a year and a half ago. I saw David Spade, and I always thought that he was, like, so sexy in Joe Dirt. I just think rednecks are so hot. So I was like, ?Oh, my God, this is my big chance! He’s, like, my No. 1 if-I-could-I-would. David Spade, let’s do this!? But then he kind of brushed me off, and I was like, ?Oh, hell no.? So I stole his bottle of whiskey and ran to the bathroom, and then they came and found me and threw me out.?

50 Cent stopped by The Tyra Show on the episode which aired this past Tuesday to talk about his new CD, book, movie and cologne. The 34-year old rapper shared what it was like to film a nude scene in his upcoming flick and revealed a wad of cash in his back pocket. The high roller said that he always carries around $25,000 in cash on him ?just in case something happens?. Something like what? An arrest that he may need to get bail for, maybe? He said ?I like to have cash on me because it feels like I have money.? Like his bank statements couldn?t tell him that!

Rihanna on Rated R

Rihanna hit the airwaves on Thanksgiving evening on Fuse in a sit down interview with host Toure. The 21-year old Barbadian singer spoke about what she wanted to name her album, her style and finding flaws. On her album title, the beauty said ?I actually wanted to name my album, ?Such a F?ing Lady?, but a couple of stores, a couple of major outlets didn?t allow that? That was the title for a while, but ?Rated R? made more sense because of the overall story. It?s a movie really, the album. But Such a F?ing Lady? – we take everything back to that – especially in our style.?

It?s not like 50 Cent needs anymore money but it turns out that the rapper and multi-millionaire has written a new movie. The rapper turned actor has actually signed a deal recently with producer Richard Jackson to make three of his screenplays into movies. According to 50, ?When you write a song, you need to say it in three minutes or it is overkill, but I like creating stories and going in depth with characters.? The first movie is set to start production next month and will actually star the rapper and Val Kilmer. The film deals with 50 and Val in the world of illegal weapons dealing and is appropriately called ?The Gun?.

Adam Lambert Wants to be Judas

Adam Lambert recently had an interview with TV Guide where he talked about what?s next for him. The American Idol alum said ?I heard they?re trying to do a remake of ?Jesus Christ Superstar? and I want to play Judas. I’m going to start publicly campaigning for it. I think a movie would be really cool!? Well the singer has said that he would want to become an actor somewhere down the line of his career. I guess this would be the perfect opportunity as he also has some background on Broadway. However, I still think he should focus on his music career.

Eminem making a movie

Ξ November 10th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Eminem, Movie |

The controversial American rapper is apparently broadening his horizons? probably due to boredom and the poor reactions to his latest release. Eminem will be going into the movie business and he?s starting out big: he?s going to be doing a horror movie called ?Shady Talez?? and get this, it will be in 3-D. Will this movie be about the terrors in store for all those who seek a career in rap and drugs with Eminem as the main example or just another splatter/monster movie? For Eminem?s sake, he?d better go with the first, otherwise he?s going to get splattered all over the monstrous scene of cinema.

Michael Jackson Film Extends Run

Ξ November 5th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Michael Jackson, Movie |

It was recently announced that the Michael Jackson documentary ?This is It? will remain in theaters through Thanksgiving weekend. In a press release, the chairman of Sony Pictures, Jeff Blake, explained ?In just 5 days, Michael Jackson?s THIS IS IT has become the highest grossing concert film of all time and we are elated by the response to this special film by fans, critics and moviegoers from all over the world. With this kind of global response, it?s clear that the motion picture deserves an extended run and we are going to do everything we can to make the film available to everyone who wants to see Michael Jackson?s THIS IS IT on the big screen.? Considering the weekend turn out, I think they are seriously over-estimating the public interest in the movie.

New Moon Soundtrack Released Early

Ξ October 16th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Movies, Movies Music, Soundtrack |

Due to the high demand for anything that pertains to the ?Twilight? franchise, in particular the music from the movie, the ?New Moon? soundtrack is going to be released a week earlier than originally planned. The label, Chop Shop/Atlantic, said that the demands of the fans were ?overwhelming and unprecedented.? The soundtrack is now slated to come out tomorrow, October 16th. Congratulations to all those ?Twilight? fanatics out there. Don?t expect the same result with the movie though. Miracles can only happen on screen and not in promoting them. There?s just a bit over a month until the movie comes out anyway. I?m sure they can wait.

Tricky Stewart, the mastermind behind Rihanna?s ?Umbrella? and Beyonce?s ?Single Ladies?, is working with Christina Aguilera on her upcoming album. He said ?It’s just great. I wouldn’t say that it’s alternative, I wouldn’t say that it’s different. Christina’s always been an artist that moves the bar and that’s what the great ones do. They don’t stay in the same place for too long and this album is just another move for her. I really feel it’s one of her best bodies of work that I’ve heard since ?Stripped?.? Unfortunately, we won?t be hearing her album until next year as the pop singer is concentrating on her movie career at the moment, working on ?Burlesque? with Cher.

Miley Cyrus Rolls Large

The fact that her movie just got pushed back doesn?t seem to have any effect on Miley Cyrus as she continues to live large. After her concert at the Staples Center on Tuesday night, sources say that the singer showed up at the newly opened Katsuya LA live with an entourage of 100 people. The Disney star wanted a little privacy for her group so she bought out the restaurant for the night. Miley danced the night away while sipping on Katsuya?s Watermelon Elixir. It?s not an alcoholic beverage but let?s be honest ? if she wanted one, she could have one.

The Best and Worst in Music This Year

Ξ September 17th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Beyonce, Jonas Brothers, Michael Jackson, Taylor Swift |

The past year has treated many artists in the music industry very well but there are also others that didn?t have as much luck with their new releases. The biggest albums of the year sales-wise are Taylor Swift?s ?Fearless? which sold 3.7 million, Michael Jackson?s ?#1?s? which sold 3 million, Beyonce?s ?I Am? Sasha Fierce? which sold 2.4 million and the soundtrack for the movie ?Twilight? which sold 2.2 million. However, not everyone can do well. The Jonas Brothers fever seems to be dying down because the boys only managed to sell 520,000 copies of their new album. Disney starlet Demi Lovato also bombed selling only 240,000 copies of her album. Jordin Sparks, Green Day and Kelly Clarkson are also on the list of so-called failures.

50 Cent?s music career may be falling in a quick downward spiral but at the very least, his movie career seems to be going strong. The rapper has been cast in a new police corruption drama called ?Caught in the Crossfires?. His co-stars include the likes of Chris Klein, Adam Rodriguez and Richard T. Jones. The story will follow two homicide police officers caught in the middle of a war between dirty cops and gangs. 50 will play the role of a gang member who is forced to become an informer. What is with rappers wanting to be movie stars?
