Smirnoff Vodka is working with Madonna on a new promotion that could very well choose a new backup dancer for the Queen of Pop’s upcoming tour. The promotion, called the Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project, will try to get 10 million people in 50 countries to swap nightlife stories on their Facebook page. Some winners will be chosen to attend one of 50 parts on November 12 where Madonna herself will be in attendance. The singer will be on the lookout for some pretty awesome dancers who will compete for her attention and later participate in a dance off. The winner could very well be chosen to become a dancer on her next tour. So who has some interesting nightlife stories to share?
It looks like the singer has not yet given up on the African nation and is planning on trying to break their hearts one more time. After her failed attempt at opening a girls’ school, Madonna is going to try to open an orphanage in Malawi. This is what the singer had to say on the matter: ”My short term goals are to build an orphan care center that will service and reach at least 1,000 children and I’m also actively involved in funding several orphanages that already exist.” Well it certainly looks like Madonna is trying really, really hard to be a good person… but something just keeps getting in the way.
Well, it won’t be so much of a surprise now that it’s already out, but still it is reason for excitement for all of Britney Spears’ fans out there. The singer has been getting ready for her upcoming “Femme Fatale” tour and has a few surprises ready for her fans, one of which is apparently a cover she is doing of Madonna’s “Burning Up”. A short clip of Britney Spears performing the song leaked on to the internet and it’s getting a lot of attention. This might just prove to be a very good boost for the ticket sales on Britney Spears’ new tour. And one has to wonder that when something leaks on the internet like this, why is it never the whole thing?
The famous pop singer’s publicist, Liz Rosenberg, has recently taken a bit of a stab against Lady GaGa, probably due to the great success the singer has been having recently. This is what Madonna’s publicist had to say about Lady GaGa: “Of course, the natural instinct is to wonder: Where does she take it from here? She’s taken it pretty far on the fashion front and seems to be having fun with it. The next step might be a nice pastel sweater set with pearls and sensible shoes. That would be REALLY shocking.” Really subtle of Madonna there to have her publicist do all of the dirty work. It looks like somebody is a wee bit jealous.
Simon Cowell has admitted that Susan Boyle taught him some serious lessons about judging people on their looks. Speaking on a conference call to promote the X-Factor USA, the 51-year-old confessed that he was ‘guilty’ of making snap judgements about contestants. According to Digital Spy, he said, “You just can’t put an age cap on talent. With Susan Boyle, who would have thought this little lady living on her own in Scotland would go on to sell nearly 20 million records? It’s just typical of the record business saying that you have to look this way or whatever. “I was guilty of that. She taught me a huge lesson that I have to be more open-minded. I think the American audience know what talent is and I don’t think it matters if you’re in your 40s, 50s, 30s or 14 years old. If you have it, you have it. You only have to look at Madonna. She’s still one of the most influential artists in the world. It doesn’t matter how old she is.” The X Factor USA will be open to entrants aged as young as 12-years-old. Cowell said the decision to drop the minimum age has stemmed from a change in the market.
Sources are saying that Glee producers are rethinking their initial plan to do a tribute episode following the Super Bowl this year. It has been reported that the hit FOX TV series was considering an homage to either Bruce Springsteen or Michael Jackson, but now, Ryan Murphy and others are leaning towards a regular episode. There are good things and bad things to the strategy but I kind of agree with having a regular episode instead of getting another stunt one. I say get back to basics and remind everyone why we fell in love with this show. We all love Madonna and The Boss and that wouldnt change. Lets remember why we love Rachel, Finn, Kurt and friends.
This seems to be Madonnas latest idea for doing something with her time and also making a profit from her name. The singer is planning on opening a chain of gyms that will bear the name Hard Candy Fitness. This is what her partner, Mark Mastrov, had to say on the matter: “Hard Candy Fitness will be a reflection of Madonna’s point of view and will reflect her input on every detail, including music space, light and design cues. Madonna touch will be everywhere.” Even though Madonnas blessing would probably be enough to make the chain a hit among her subjects, not to mention her involvement in their design, it still isnt a good idea to associate candy and fitness in the name.
Taylor Momsen was recently revealed as the face for the upcoming fashion line from Madonna and her daughter Lourdes Leon. The former Gossip Girl actress turned lead singer of a punk rock band said Im psyched to be the face of Material Girl! For one, its Madonna so you know its gonna be cool and working with Madonna and Lola has been an unbelievable experience. They have such great sense of style, each brought their personal touch to the styling for the campaign. The line will launch exclusively in Macys stores across the country and on Macys.com on August 3.
Katy Perry recently had an interview with UKs Star magazine. The pop singer talked a bit about sexuality and religion saying It does not matter if its Madonna or my boyfriend doing it – if you put sexuality and religion in the same bottle and try to shake it up, its not cool. Perhaps its this same opinion why Katy recently unleashed a tirade on Lady Gaga and her Alejandro video where the princess of pop was seen swallowing a rosary. If youve been living under a rock your whole life and just recently came out from under it, Katys dad is actually a pastor. Go figure.
Ryan Murphy has just confirmed that the producers of Glee will be doing a sequel to their smash hit episode The Power of Madonna. And guess what? They might even get the Queen of Pop to make an appearance! Ryan said I cant say. But shes sort of the muse of our show. She loves the show and has supported it. She gets that the show is about arts education and so shes very supportive about that. I cant wait for it! I wonder what Madonna songs the cast would sing this time around. And of course Im expecting another album from them.
As it was previously reported, Madonna?s private journal went up for auction ? or at the very least, they used to be. The auction has come to a halt last Monday as the Queen of Pop?s rep convinced eBay that the items rightfully belonged to the singer. The seller is pretty pissed at that. He still claims that the 12 journals, photos and address books are his. He was expecting to rake in at least $2.5 million from the auction. How can he claim that when the previous owner, a former assistant to Madonna, spoke out to not bid on the items? It goes to show you not to mess with Madonna!
An eBay seller is claiming to have a boatload of Madonna?s personal items, including journals from 1988 to 1992, an address book with famous contacts like Antonio Banderas, Dennis Hopper, Lenny Kravitz, Matt Damon, John Malkovich, Oliver Stone and Al Pacino, as well as personal family pictures. The set, which is now being sold on eBay, is said to have belonged to the Queen of Pop?s personal assistant Melissa Crowe, who worked for the singer from 1987 to 1996. There?s no word yet on how the seller obtained the items but Melissa has told a fan site that she wants the items back and tells fans to not bid on the items. I can only imagine how juicy those journals are.
Kiely Williams, formerly of 3LW and the Cheetah Girls, released a rather offensive song and video this week called ?Spectacular?. It?s some desperate attempt to get some recognition in the music industry that ended up being a total failure because while people did get talking about her, they don?t have nice things to say. The singer posted a lengthy note in the description for the music video on her official YouTube page saying ?I am playing a character in the music video for the song Spectacular, as I did in the Cheetah Girl movies. Young women across the country get intoxicated and have unprotected sex. That’s a fact. I recorded the song to bring attention to this frighteningly prevalent activity. It is absurd to infer or suggest that I am condoning this behavior.? She goes as far as comparing herself to Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Rihanna, Madonna and Monique. She wishes.
Madonna has returned to Malawi to oversee the first steps toward the construction of her Raising Malawi Academy for Girls. The Queen of Pop will even have the esteemed honor or laying down the first brick on the school. The singer also spent some time at the Millennium Village, a United Nations initiative in the central border district west of Lilongwe. I wonder if she brought David and Mercy along for the trip to meet with their families. Let?s hope that the school is all that she gets herself into and not another adoption. I?m all for her helping others but let the other kids grow up a little first, yeah?
Up and coming singer Jason Derulo, who just finished a stint on tour with Lady Gaga, is on his way into the studio to work with none other than the Queen of Pop herself, Madonna! The R&B singer said ?Lady Gaga’s as awesome offstage as she is on stage. She actually said something which was really, really cool. She looked me in my eyes and said, ?Jason, I’ve worked with a lot of talented people, I’ve seen a lot of talented people, but you’re special. You’re star.? That meant a lot coming from her. I’m about to work with Madonna, and I?ve been watching her for years. I would love to be a part of another reinvention. She?s been able to reinvent herself time and time again. Lady Gaga recently spoke to UK?s OK magazine about the comparisons between her and the Queen of Pop Madonna. The record-breaking singer said ?It’s funny when people say they see a lot of Madonna in me. I just feel so flattered because I love her and I am just her biggest fan. She is very strong. I love the way she does interviews -you know you won’t get anything past her.? I actually think that Lady Gaga is this generation?s Madonna. Madonna was spotted making out with rumoured ex Jesus Luz – before burying the hatchet with ex-husband Guy Ritchie at the same party, according to U.S. reports.
In what would have been a dizzying night for Madonna watchers, the Material Girl was said to have spent time with the two most important men in her recent life at the after-party for the London premiere for A Single Man on Monday night.
An insider insists Madge made out with Jesus – then made up with Guy, spending time chatting with her ex-husband to the amazement of onlookers.
The insiders said that her actions made it very clear she was still with Jesus – at least on Monday.
“They were all over each other and were even kissing in front of everyone,” said an insider who snuck into the afterparty in Harry’s Bar. They looked like they were still very much an item.”
The onlooker said Jesus left right before the party ended, but Madonna stayed until the venue closed.
“Tom Ford was there, and she looked like she wanted to talk to him before she left for the evening,” the source says.
“But there’s no doubt she and Jesus were at the party together.”
Madonna is reportedly back in the studio hard at work for the follow up to 2008?s ?Hard Candy?. For the yet to be titled album, the Queen of Pop is bringing in a long list of collaborators including French DJ David Guetta, Fernando Garibay and Kanye West?s DJ A-Trak. The latter of the DJ?s talked about the collaboration saying ?It’s my production, turned into song structure – halfway between rap and electronic and whatever else I listen to.? And with Pearl Jam?s producer Brendan O?Brien on board with the singer as well, it leads me to believe that there?s going to be some rock infused music as well.

The 23-year old pop singer impressed the magazine?s editor-in-chief Martine Bury so much that they could only pick her for the cover of their Vanguard issue. Martine said ?Lady Gaga has liberated music and fashion the way David Bowie and other Brit Glam rockers did in the seventies – using costume, artifice and drama while bending gender norms and conventions. But she also one ups everyone with her phenomenal vocal talent and truly unique aesthetic. She?s way ahead of her time and the only universal artist to truly break ground and provoke thought since Madonna.?
Madonna has been linked to shamed Tiger Woods – through their doctor.
Madge and golf superstar Woods were both patients of Canadian sports-medicine specialist Dr. Tony Galea, according to reports.
Dr. Galea was arrested in October after an associate was arrested at the US border with a bag containing human growth hormone.
HGH is banned in most sports leagues.
Dr. Galea was reportedly treated by Galea after a horse-riding accident in the Hamptons last year.
Woods was reportedly treated by Galea following his knee surgery, also last year.
“Information regarding Madonna’s doctors has never been available to me, but I knew that sooner or later, the names Madonna and Tiger would be in a sentence, and I’m delighted that it’s sooner,” said Madonna’s publicist Liz Rosenberg.
It looks like the superstar?s profession is finally catching up with her. One of Madonna?s neighbours from New York is suing her because of frequent loud music and dance sessions. It seems that all of Madonna?s neighbours are bothered by the fact that she?s using her appartment as a rehearsals studio and she has previously been threatened with eviction. Madonna has probably already thought of a sollution for this one. She?s most likely going to bring her boyfriend by much more often? but of course, that?s no guarantee that the decibel level will get any lower than it is now.
Guy Ritchie is clearly trying to get himself some attention as he has brought up his ex-wife Madonna. In a recent interview for Esquire Magazine, the director starts off with some much deserved praise for the Queen of Pop, saying ?Madonna makes things happen. Put Madonna up against any twenty-three-year-old, she’ll outwork them, out-dance them, outperform them. The woman is broad.? But then Guy goes and ruins that by going on about his love for the singer saying ?I still love her. But she’s retarded, too.? I would get if he still harbors some resentment but couldn?t he find a more suitable or mature adjective to describe her?

Reports are saying that Madonna will be making a return to Saturday Night Live some time this season. The Queen of Pop is apparently set to make her return after 16 years and word has it that she?s also likely to be performing. However, execs of the show are trying to have her do both ? perform and host, that is. I think that the singer should do it all! I just hope that she doesn?t give current boy toy Jesus Luz any cameos unless he?s shirtless and he doesn?t talk at all. However, I do welcome cameos from her daughter Lourdes and her son Rocco.

Madonna was at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards which were held at New York City?s Radio City Music Hall last Sunday. The 51-year old singer spoke during the Michael Jackson tribute at the beginning of the show and even introduced for Janet Jackson?s performance. The Queen of Pop spoke about her love of Michael and the things that were parallel in their lives. She said that the late singer was ?so unique, so original, so rare. He was a king.? I only have one comment for Madonna though. When talking about someone you?re supposed to be paying a tribute to, I don?t think talking about yourself more is an appropriate thing to do.
Madonna just keeps on blowing minds and breaking records and it looks like she?s not going to stop any time soon. In the September 26th issue of Billboard, the Queen of Pop?s single ?Celebration? has become the singer?s 40th number one single on the Hot Dance Club Play Chart. That?s more hit singles than any other artist in the history of the chart! Talk about achieving a great milestone. I bet the second placer with regards to number one hits doesn?t even come close. Madonna is utterly amazing! Congratulations are definitely due out to her. And you can bet that there?s more where that came from.
Madonna?s fans tend to worship the ground that the singer walks on, but apparently, not everything the Queen of Pop says is golden. A crowd of 60,000 people in Bucharest, Romania began to boo Madonna when she spoke out against discrimination against Gypsies in Eastern Europe. She said that no one should be discriminated against and that it made her sad that Gypsies, also known as Roma, faced that kind of ordeal. That?s when thousands of fans in attendance, who didn?t agree, loudly booed the pop singer. Madonna didn?t react to the negative response from the crowd. When will the day when thoughts of free thinking people be received warmly?
African stage stars are putting on a show called Mercy Madonna of Malawi which mocks the singer’s two adoptions from the country.
The 50-year-old performer has two adopted children David, three, and Mercy, four, who were both adopted from Malawi.
The Material Girl is being played by an African actor in a blonde wig in the show, which is using rewritten versions of Madge’s tracks mocking the adoptions.
The actor is joined by dancers wearing “Adopt Me” t-shirts and they have brought their show to the UK and will perform at the Edinburgh Festival. They say they are trying to show a local perspective of the star’s adoptions.
The audience of the show are reportedly asked at the end whether or not they believe the adoptions should have been allowed.
The show’s director Toby Gough said: “I know one of Madonna’s dancers and I’ve sent him an email saying: ‘Please invite her along.’ I haven’t heard back yet.”
