JLS recently premiered the music video for their song “Take a Chance on Me”. The mid-tempo pop track serves as the second single from the British boy band’s upcoming album “Jukebox”, which is due out on November 14 but will be available for pre-order on November 6th. In my opinion, the song is really mediocre and really does nothing to further their career. Call it secondary syndrome or whatever but I actually had high hopes for these guys. As for the video, the boys promote the sites of London, including the Thames path walk, Tower Bridge and the illuminated London eye. It makes me wonder if the England Tourist Board financed this video.
Skylar Grey played her first UK show ever this past Monday when the singer hit the stage at East London’s XOYO to present herself as the mastermind behind the amazing choruses in the hits “Coming Home”, “Words I Never Said”, “I Need a Doctor” and “Love the Way You Lie”. Immediately after doing that medley, Skylar did her solo efforts and sang her singles “Dance Without You” and “invisible”. I have a ton of respect to Skylar with her talents as a vocalist and songwriter. She was just born to do this. I feel a little worried though with “Invisible” being her first single. The song is beautiful but risky and maybe just a little unfriendly for radio.

Rihanna’s tour may not be doing so well in the US but she’s doing great in the UK. It has just been announced that the R&B singer will play a ninth concert at the O2 Arena in London , scheduled for December 22. The tickets have gone on sale today so make sure you snatch them up. If her ticket sales for the UK are anything to go by, they’re going to get sold out pretty quickly. If you’re one to keep count, Rihanna has now beat out pop star Britney Spears who managed to do eight shows at the O2 on her Circus tour.
The piano that Sir Paul McCartney used to perform Yesterday has gone under the hammer for the first time. The former Beatles star used the piano to think up the music to the famous track in 1964, which has become one of the most covered songs of all time. It’s claimed McCartney thought the song was another artist’s and went to see the singer Alma Cogan to play it for her on her family’s 1926 mini piano but she confirmed it was an original song. The piano, which has also been used by the likes of Mick Jagger, Sean Connery, John Lennon and Michael Caine, is now going up for auction at London’s Drury Lane Theatre. Alma’s sister Sandra Caron is auctioning off the piano and it is expected to go for at least £125,000.
Amy Winehouse and boyfriend Reg Traviss attended the opening of the new African-themed restaurant Shaka Zulu in Camden in north London last week, and as usual, the train wreck of a singer made a fool of herself. The restaurants special guest of honor, King of the Zulu Nation, monarch Goodwill Zwelithini, was in attendance to make a speech in front of 200 guests. Not only did Wino show up late and drunk, she kept interrupting the speech by making rude comments and making out with Reg in front of the king and his guests. Reg tried to keep Wino under control but after he failed, he decided to leave with her out the back door.
MIA is making all kinds of mischief these days by spouting off conspiracy theories, posting journalists phone numbers on Twitter and saying crazy stuff wherever she goes. The rapper recently talked to Nylon magazine about the unusual tactics she employed to gain admittance to the prestigious St. Martins college in London. She said I said, ‘If you don’t (accept me), you’re going to change my life completely, because I’m going to go outside and get on the bus, and I’ll be a crackhead prostitute and go to jail. And three years from now, I’ll come out of jail and make the best film.’ Or shed be in jail.
Coldplay is on its way back. According to lead singer Chris Martin, the band hopes to release a new album in 2010 ? hopefully near Christmas. They are currently at work in their secret studio in London which is said to be a converted church. No tracks will end up getting leaked this time as Chris said ?There’s only two people in the whole building who know how to open all the recording files. Even we [Coldplay] don’t know how to do it. We couldn’t even steal our own music at the moment. You would have to be a computer genius and a great burglar to get into the building, and download it, and mix it.?
Rihanna performed a cover of Bob Marley?s ?Redemption Song? on Oprah this past Wednesday. The whole show was done for the benefit of the victims of the Haiti earthquake. The song is currently available on iTunes and all proceeds made in the sale of the song will help all of the victims of the unfortunate tragedy. Rihanna will be performing the song again from London later tonight on the Hope for Haiti telethon. Again, I urge all of you reading this to give what you can for our neighbors in Haiti. However little you may give may end up actually saving a life.

The 20-year old Barbadian singer previewed songs from her upcoming album ?Rated R?, including ?Mad House?, ?Wait Your Turn?, ?Russian Roulette? and ?Hard? with special guest Young Jeezy. The beautiful pop star also played her past hits, including ?Disturbia?, ?Take a Bow? and ?Live Your Life? mixed with ?Run This Town?, when Jay-Z came out as a surprise. The crowd went wild at that. The police were called over to a Waterstone?s bookstore in London earlier this week after there were claims that Leona Lewis had been slapped. The singer was doing a book signing for her autobiography ?Dreams?. The X Factor winner?s camp released a statement regarding the matter saying ?Leona was the victim of an unprovoked attack this afternoon at her book signing. The police were called immediately and medical attention has been sought. Leona is understandably shaken and apologizes to the fans she was unable to meet and complete signings.? What the heck has gotten into the person who attacked her?
Amy Winehouse is about to deliver some new music. It?s just too bad that it?s not her own. The singer is starting her own record label called Lioness Records. Her official website explains ?Amy wanted to create a label where she could sign and work closely with a small roster of artists she really believed in. Lioness symbolises strength, pride and confidence, and will be a place where the artist is given the time, space and the opportunity to develop and flourish.? The first artist on her label is her goddaughter, 13-year Dionne Bromfield from London. She said ?The first time I heard Dionne sing, I couldn’t believe what I was hearing?such an amazing voice from such a young girl. I’m just so proud of her. I’m very lucky to have a record label. I’ve got all these people that I love, that are really talented ? and Dionne is my number one.?
The film which documented the final weeks of Michael Jackson?s life as he prepared for his comeback tour will be released by Sony worldwide on October 28th and will only have a limited run of just two weeks in theater. The studio describes the film, ?This is It?, as an ?intimate portrait of Michael Jackson as you’ve never seen him before.? It will showcase the King of Pop as he rehearsed for his upcoming shows at London?s O2 Arena that were supposed to kick off mid-July. The director, Kenny Ortega, also talked about the film, saying ?This film is Michael’s gift to his fan. It’s a very private, exclusive look into a creative genius’s world. With this film, we get a rare portrait of Michael as he prepares for his final curtain call and what I believe was going to be his master work.?
A teary-eyed Amy Winehouse arrived at London?s Gatwick airport on Monday morning after the singer?s extended 8-month stay in St. Lucia. I can?t believe she made it in one piece! Actually, I think Wino looked a million times better than she has in previous months. She has more meat on her bones now. According to her spokesperson, Wino is really happy to be back in the UK and ?can’t wait to catch up with family and friends.? However, some people are saying that?s not the real case. Wino apparently outstayed her welcome on the island. Wino kept getting banned from hotel bars and disturbing the locals so she thought that it would be a good idea to pack it up and leave before she was banned from ever returning.
Michael Jackson?s 50-show run at London?s O2 Arena was set to be the highest grossing single concert engagement if it took place. The concert promoter, AEG Live, went all out on the production and may now be facing some serious financial problems. According to Billboard, AEG sold $85 million worth of tickets along with $30 million spent on spent on production and $10 given to the late singer as an advanced payment. They?re not sure whether nonappearance insurance will cover the unfortunate situation. If the King of Pop died from a drug overdose or a pre-existing condition, the producer will not get reimbursed and will be forced to refund 750,000 already purchased tickets.
Britney Spears? handlers surprisingly let the recovered pop star out to have a night out in the town in London after finishing her first week of the UK leg of her ?Circus? tour. The singer dropped by Maddox night club this past weekend before calling it an early night and heading to bed. No fishnets, sunglasses at night, late convenient store stops or a pig wig involved in the whole matter, just a bunch of bodyguards and an utterly bored looking Britney. Britain?s Got Talent runner up Susan Boyle was admitted to a London clinic this past Sunday, a day after her shocking loss on the show. The YouTube sensation is said to be suffering from exhaustion. One of the show?s judges, Piers Morgan, talked about the singer on a Brit TV show saying ?Nobody has had to put up with the kind of attention Susan has had. Nobody could have predicted it. It has been crazy, she has gone from anonymity to being the most downloaded woman in history.? I would have gone crazy if that much pressure was on me. I wish that Susan get better soon and show the world just how big a star she truly is.
Michael Jackson reportedly wants Britain’s Got Talent winners Diversity to join him on stage at his London shows.
The dance troupe beat singer Susan Boyle to claim the prize on the British show – and now Jacko, 50, is reportedly keen to sign them up.
A source said: “Michael has already seen what the boys can do.
“He was captivated with Susan Boyle so he had an interest in the show. But when Diversity came up on the outside rail, he was mesmerised.”
The source added: “Everyone knows Michael’s performances are as much about the dancing as they are his music – and Diversity would only add to the magic.”
The source added: “They are the hottest thing in the country at the moment, and if everything goes well and Michael takes them on, they could be one of the hottest things on the planet.”

Susan Boyle really wants to win ?Britain?s Got Talent? because she keeps practicing nonstop. The finale takes place this Saturday and the singer has been practicing all day and night while staying at the Wembley Plaza Hotel in London where guest have complained about her constant singing until 2AM. All that practicing may have caused her a cold which we can all blame for her lacklustre semi-final performance of ?Memory? from Andrew Lloyd Webber?s ?Cats? this past Sunday. After winning the public vote, Susan said ?It was totally unexpected ? but I?m feeling pretty good about the result. It was a pretty rocky start because to begin with I sort of had a croaky note. That?s because I had a cold. But I said to myself, ?Pick yourself up, keep going.??
Sooner or later, someone?s going to have a hospital wing named after Amy Winehouse as the British singer has once again visited the hospital for the third time in three months last week. The doctors of St. Lucia knew the drill so well that Wino was even released the same night that she was admitted. Wino?s friends are worried that her latest trip will mean that she is still not ready to go back to the full swing of things regarding her career. Wino is scheduled to make a comeback performance in London at the end of this month and they are saying that she might not make it.
