Music boss Simon Cowell is reportedly planning to replace David Hasselhoff as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent. The 51-year-old is said to be ‘unimpressed’ with Hasselhoff’s start on the show after joining along with comic Michael McIntyre. A source close to the music mogul said to UK newspaper Sunday Mirror: "He’s not thrilled about the start. He feels that The Hoff hasn’t quite taken off with BGT viewers." It’s claimed he could be lining up Louis Walsh to take over on the hit British talent show. Cowell himself will not appear on the line-up until the live finals.
Geordie singer Cheryl Cole is in the running to become a judge on the US X Factor, Simon Cowell has said. The music mogul told fans he is still undecided as to who the final two judges on the panel will be. Cowell has already confirmed music producer and executive Antonio ‘L.A.’ Reid, 54, will join him on the panel – leaving two spots for female stars. During a web chat on Twitter yesterday a fan asked if Cole, 27, will join the US version of the talent show. The 51-year-old responded: "Cheryl is in the mix, talking to the network this week, hope to announce the 2 remaining judges very shortly." And Simon also said he wanted to find the next Lady Gaga on the programme. He wrote: "We hope 2 find an artist who can compete with people in the charts. Would love to find the new Lady Gaga. No Rules."
There are only a few episodes left of American Idol meaning there?s only so much time left until Simon Cowell will be gone from the judges? table permanently. However, there?s still no replacement named. It?s being said that the snarky judge?s replacement will not be revealed until after the May 26 season finale. Fox chairman Peter Rice said ?We?re not going to rush into something. We?re not going to try to find a Simon clone who can do what he does because, you know, he?s one of a kind. But the [Idol] format itself, people love.? I wonder who they?re going to pick.
New American Idol judge Ellen DeGeneres has revealed Simon Cowell is meaner than she realised.
DeGeneres has joined the panel of judges – that includes Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi – this year after Paula Abdul sensationally quit.
But after spending time filming the new series of the hit reality show, DeGeneres admits she finds it hard to listen to TV’s Mr Nasty crush people’s dreams.
She told US TV show Entertainment Tonight: “I had one idea of Simon when I came in, and it’s changed. He’s actually meaner than I thought. It’s hard to listen to him tell people things and me not to go: ‘You poor thing!’”
She says, however: “I’m getting good at delivering bad news, myself, but I’m trying to do it in a tender way. I hate hurting people’s feelings, so that, I think, is the hardest part. But I think we have good people. I’m going to fight very, very hard to keep the people that I believe in, so that we have a wide variety, somebody for everybody, I hope.”
DeGeneres will debut as a judge on the February 9 episode of the show while Cowell will exit the show at the end of this season.
Seeing as how his American version of the X Factor is in the building plans, Simon Cowell is trying his best to bring on all sorts of interesting folk to join in the fun. Next on the list would have been Victoria Beckham for one of the judge?s seats, but the former Spice Girl apparently turned Simon Cowell down more or less. This is what a source related about Victoria Beckham?s refusal: “Victoria told Simon she needs time to think about it as she is so busy with her fashion work right now. Looking at her hectic schedule, some of the dates mooted could be problematic as David is away, so she wants to work from home and look after the kids. Simon is incredibly charming so who knows. they did have a long conversation and although Victoria thinks he will be too manic to commit, she loved her time on the Idol panel.” Well, that?s what you get when you ask a working mom to dedicate herself to a career. But Simon Cowell is probably going to find a way? he always does.
American Idol’s newest judge, talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, has revealed that she knows she will not be able to ?please everyone? on the hit US show.
The 51-year-old comedienne has replaced former Idol judge Paula Abdul in the upcoming ninth season of the talent show.
Talking about the negativity she has faced from some viewers, she said: “I understand it. I was one of those people that was sceptical, like, ‘Why are they adding a fourth judge? I don’t understand this.’?
She added: “But I do think that [Idol judge] Kara [DioGuardi] adds a lot to the show now. And also, it’s not just a new judge in the place of someone that they loved.
“I mean, a lot of people loved Paula, and I don’t want to be the person that took Paula’s job away from her. Which I wasn’t.
?I’m not going to be able to please everyone. I gave up trying to do that a long time ago.”
X Factor judge Simon Cowell has said that his slamming of the Beatles was a joke.
The 49-year-old, who recently stated if the Beatles had taken part in the British TV talent competition, he wouldn’t have put them through to the finals, has now said he was only joking.
Cowell told RadarOnline.com: “Regarding my comments on the Beatles, it was a joke. I have always said they were the group I have always wished I had signed.
“Also, to set the record straight, it was recently reported that I turned down the Spice Girls. In fact, I offered the girls a recording contract before they were signed and actually offered to double the offer they had on the table.”
Brit judge Piers Morgan blasted host Nick Cannon on America’s Got Talent, telling him “You’re the mean one!” after he tricked girl group The EriAm Sisters into thinking they had been voted off the show.
Piers was – almost – speechless after Nick told the girls that they hadn’t made it through to the semis on NBC’s Tuesday night show, then told they had – causing them all to burst into tears.
Afterwards, Nick laughed as he told the girls: ?Gotcha!?
Piers then said: ?That’s a mean trick you just played, Nick Cannon.
?You’re meaner than me and you call me the bad one. My God!?
David Hasselhoff was thrilled the girls got through with fellow singer Drew Stevyns.
The Hoff stood up and shouted at Nick: ?You’re the man!?
Nick tried to defend himself saying: ?I’m just doing what it says on the cards.?
Joe Jonas will be serving as a guest judge for this week?s set of American Idol auditions. It also seems that we?ll be seeing more guest judges as the season goes by. An insider recently told Pop Tarts that ?At this stage it doesn?t look like Paula [Abdul] will be replaced by one person. The celebrity judges are working really well for now.? Other celebrities who will be joining Season 9 regular judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi include the likes of Shania Twain and Jennifer Lopez. Victoria Beckham and Mary J Blige have already finished their run as guest judges. Also, the original American Idol, Kelly Clarkson, is said to be in negotiations to be a guest judge.
