New Song from J Cole – Mr. Nice Watch

Ξ September 22nd, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Music, Music People, Video |

Check out this epic collaboration from J Cole and Jay-Z called “Mr. Nice Watch”. The track can be found on the up and coming rapper’s debut album “Cole World: The Sideline Story”. The Roc Nation artist goes hard on the track, oozing great energy and flow. Plus, he gets the help of his label boss who spits a killer rap verse on the heavy-hitting electronic beat that the song has. I think J Cole has a hit on his hands with this song. “Mr. Nice Watch” is on fire on its own but with the added star power of Jay-Z, I think this is definitely going to slay.

Jay Z and Kanye West, sample from Fetele de la Capalna ( Capalna Girls)(audio)

Ξ September 2nd, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Music, New Single, Video |

Jay-Z and Kanye West included on their album a song inspired by a famous song from Capalna Girls.
The song in question is called ‘Murder To Excellence’ and appears on the album ‘Watch The Throne’. At the song credits are not listed the girls from Capalna as inspiration, but the twins from Indiggo, Mihaela and Gabriela Modorcea, who sampled themselves the popular song.
It is not the first time American rappers borrow Romanian songs.
Three years ago, T.I. released the song ‘Live Your Life’ ft. Rihanna, which contained a sample from the chorus of the song “Dragostea Din Tei”.

Jay-Z has revealed the source of his coolness

Ξ April 14th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Beyonce Knowles, Jay-Z |

The rapper and highly successful business man has recently revealed how he managed to become the cool musical idol that he is today. This is what Jay-Z had to say on the matter: “I’m around great women, starting with my mom. Women keep men cool. The hotter the chick the cooler the guy… that sounds like a really bad rap line!” So Jay-Z is not only very subtly complimenting his mother on her good looks, but he’s also saying that if it weren’t for Beyonce, he’d still be stuck rapping away in some obscure studio. One can see the point that Jay-Z is trying to make here.

Willow Smith Talks Roc Nation

Ξ January 31st, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Beyonce, Jay-Z |

Willow Smith recently had a photo shoot and interview for the February 2011 issue of Vanity Fair magazine. The 10-year old pop singer talked about her budding music career and being able to work with rap mogul Jay-Z. She said “It is very cool, because Jay[-Z] really welcomes me and makes me feel like the record label is a place where I can have fun and talk about my career. He and his people make me feel like I’m a part of something. And I love Beyonce—she’s awesome!” I wonder if there’s a Willow-Beyonce collaboration somewhere in the near future.

New Video from Alexis Jordan – Good Girl

Ξ January 26th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Jay-Z, singer, song |

Alexis Jordan has recently premiered the music video for her song “Good Girl”. The track is the second official single taken from her self-titled debut album, which is set to hit the UK shelves on February 28th and US shelves some time in March. The Roc Nation singer’s latest song is already getting several spins at UK clubs. It was smart of her camp to continue with the light dance/house sound. As for the video, it’s good but I feel like Jay-Z could have spent a little bit more cash on it. Alexis looked amazing though and the choreography was cute.

Kanye West Reveals Release Month of Joint Album with Jay-Z

Ξ January 26th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Album Release, Jay-Z, Kanye West |

A couple of weeks ago, Kanye West announced via Twitter that his joint album with fellow rapper Jay-Z would drop on 1.11.11. The date has come and gone and there’s still no album out. Now, it looks like the album has been delayed further as Kanye went to tweet about it, saying “WATCH THE THRONE COMING IN 2 MONTHS!!!!!!!!!!” With all the delays that this album has seen, it better be good. I suppose I can forgive them if they do make it good. I wasn’t exactly thrilled with their latest single “HAM”. They’re two of the biggest names in hip hop. I would hate to take that back just because of this one album.

Kanye West and Jay-Z’s new album delayed once more

Ξ January 24th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Album Release, Jay-Z, Kanye West |

It looks like the Universe just wants to keep Kanye West’s genius at bay whatever the cost. It’s just that combined with Jay-Z’s mastery it would just create an album of epic proportions. So Kanye West and Jay-Z’s new album just keeps getting delayed. This is what Kanye West recently tweeted about the release date: “WATCH THE THRONE COMING IN 2 MONTHS!!!!!!!!!!” So it’s another two months of excruciating wait for that greatly sought revelation. Well, at least all of the impatient ones out there can comfort themselves with the sheer awesomeness of the new song “H.A.M.” courtesy of the Kanye West and Jay-Z duo.

Eminem is getting back in the game at 53rd Annual Grammy Awards

Ξ December 2nd, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Bruno Mars, Eminem, Lady Antebellum, Rihanna, Video |

Even though his recent stuff didnt seem to sound that amazing, it looks like somebody up there sure likes Eminmens music as he is currently at the top of the nominations list for this years Grammy with no less than ten nominations. Among the categories in which Eminem is nominated for Grammys are Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Best Rap Album. He does owe two of those to Rihanna, though. Of course, in which of these categories he is actually going to get an award still remains to be seen, but it is a pretty impressive thing for Eminem. Maybe he hasnt lost his touch after all.
Bruno Mars follows with seven, Jay-Z, Lady Gaga, and Lady Antebellum got six nods, John Legend and B.o.B got five, Drake, Rihanna, Cee Lo Green, Katy Perry, and Alex Da Kid get four nods each.

Jay-Z Lawsuit

Ξ June 26th, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Jay-Z, rapper |

Jay-Z spends roughly around $250,000 to spend 55 hours on a private jet and thats with a celebrity discount. However, according to a new lawsuit, the rapper never paid the entire cost to fly in style. Jay-Z is being sued by Air Platinum Holding, a private jet company which claims that the rap mogul spent 55 hours on their planes back in 2009 but only paid for 37 hours of service. The lawsuit also claims that the rapper flaked out on other payments. It breaks down to 18 hours of flight time for $81,000, catering for 17 domestic flights for $8,500, catering for 4 international flights for $3000, international fees for $8,500, taxes for $12,285 and a luxury trip to England for $24,200. This is why most people just fly coach.

Jay-Z Rihanna

Ξ May 11th, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Jay-Z, Rihanna |

Even though Katy Perry seems to have taken a title more fitting for this type of idea, Jay-Z is going to have to do with Rihanna for a while. It seems the rapper has had one of his amazing business ideas recently and it involves Rihanna being the ?mascot? for a chain of burlesque clubs. This is what a source said about Jay-Z?s new idea: “All the top people think she’s smoking hot. They’re desperate to make her the face and body of a new burlesque club. Jay sees it as a great business opportunity.” Sure? what woman doesn?t like to have her body exploited for the purpose of profit? Rihanna?s probably going to get a real hoot out of this one, but what of Matt Kemp? How kindly will he take to this idea?

Betty White and Jay-Z on SNL

Ξ April 19th, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Jay-Z |

According to sources, rapper Jay-Z will be the musical guest for the special Mother?s Day episode of Saturday Night Live on May 8. Former ?Golden Girls? actress Betty White will be co-hosting the night with 6 former female SNL cast members ? Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Molly Shannon, Maya Rudolph, Ana Gasteyer and Rachel Dratch. Betty was recently asked if she knew that Jay-Z was going to be the musical guest. She said ?I really didn?t, in all honesty. I was just so thrilled when I heard that Tina and the girls were going to do it, I have tried not to have anything to say [on the creative end]. It?s their show. All I have is veto power. If anything comes up that I don?t feel comfortable doing, I can say, ?Can we go in another direction?? They know what they?re doing far better than I do, so I didn?t even get into the musical end of it.?

Beyonce is pregnant?

Ξ March 26th, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Beyonce, Jay-Z |

Not only does Amy Winehouse want children now, but it looks like Beyonce might already be expecting her first. This is the news that can be found on blogging site Mediatakeout: “According to our source Beyonce is doing fine and resting (for now), but she’s expected to continue working throughout her pregnancy. And we’re also told that Jay-Z is extremely happy to be having his first child with Beyonce.” The official representatives of Beyonce and Jay-Z of course are refusing to comment on all of this, but then again that?s only natural. It might all be a hoax, but you have to observe how much of a workaholic Beyonce is. She just has to catch up to Rihanna, doesn?t she?

Jay-Z finally sits down with the president

Ξ March 5th, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Barack Obama, Jay-Z |

After so many wasted opportunities and declined invitations, it seems Jay-Z finally found the time in his busy schedule to go and have a chat with president Barrack Obama. It probably wasn?t the lunch the president was hoping for, but Jay-Z was probably pretty strapped for time since he was just in the neighborhood so to speak as he had a concert in Washington DC. Of course the fact that the meeting was brief didn?t stop Jay-Z from telling his concert audience that he finally got to have a chat with one of his biggest fans, President Barrack Obama. There?s a real ham for you!

Jay-Z Bans White People

Ξ February 23rd, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ BRIT Awards, Brit, Jay-Z |

Jay-Z is in the middle of some crazy crap because security at is Brit Awards after party reportedly banned white people from going in the VIP area. Britain?s Daily Star music reporter Kim Dawson said ?I’ve been to countless showbiz bashes but never have I met meatheads like those at the Jay-Z do (party). Jay-Z is a megastar and yet it was clear white people were not welcome in his VIP area. While the red rope was lifted for black guests to breeze through, let’s just say it stayed down if your face didn’t fit. I have never felt so intimidated. It left me feeling like a mauled dog.? The rapper?s reps are reportedly claiming that security was hired by the club but the club owners were unaware of any issues.

Beyonce: Jay-Z was shocked when I thanked him as my husband at Grammys

Ξ February 8th, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Beyonce, Grammy Awards, Jay-Z |

Beyonce says Jay-Z was “shocked” when she thanked him as her husband at the Grammy Awards.

The couple have tried to keep their marriage top-secret, but collecting her sixth Grammy of the night, Beyonce said: ?I’d love to thank my family for all their love and support, including my husband.?

After her speech, rapper Jay-Z could be seen in the audience making gestures with his hands to the star.

?He was shocked!? Beyonce said of the speech. ?He was just like, ?What did you say?’ I was just like, ?What did I just do? No, I didn’t just say that.?

Beyonce said the speech was completely on the spur of the moment and unplanned.

?I was so happy, I could’ve said anything,? she said. ?That’s why I ran off the stage.?

Jay-Z?s Club Faces Lawsuit

Ξ December 15th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Jay-Z |

Jay-Z?s 40/40 nightclub in Atlantic City was the site of a violent fight between security personnel and club goers and now one of them is suing mad. Bryant Norwood was attacked and has filed a lawsuit for a substantial amount of money from the club since he?s claiming that the attack was unprovoked. His attorney said ?These so-called security personnel are going to have to answer why Mr. Norwood was lying on the ground being kicked and why he was punched in the head as he tried to escape from them. The 40/40 Club is going to have to answer why they hired people like this to supposedly protect their patrons and maintain order in their establishment.? The other two men in the attack are also planning to file lawsuits of their own.

Jay-Z Lawsuit

Ξ December 10th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Gwen Stefani, Jay-Z, Rihanna, Taylor Swift |

Jay-Z is following in the footsteps of Taylor Swift, Bon Jovi and Gwen Stefani as the rapper has filed a lawsuit against a tea house in Alabama claiming that the place was rocking his music without paying the price. The sting operation went down at a place in Mobile, Alabama called A Spot of Tea which turns into a nightclub called Club Insanity. According to the lawsuit, agents working for ASCAP, an enforcer of music royalties, observed the bar playing all sorts of music that they?re not allowed to pay, including ?Umbrella? by Rihanna and Jay-Z. Jay-Z, along with the publishers of the other songs played, wants the club to pay up.

Rihanna Rocks London

Ξ November 20th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Concert, Jay-Z, Rihanna, Young Jeezy |

Rihanna rocked the house at the launch party for the Nokia X6 in London. Her concert was also broadcast online by Nokia on Monday. The 20-year old Barbadian singer previewed songs from her upcoming album ?Rated R?, including ?Mad House?, ?Wait Your Turn?, ?Russian Roulette? and ?Hard? with special guest Young Jeezy. The beautiful pop star also played her past hits, including ?Disturbia?, ?Take a Bow? and ?Live Your Life? mixed with ?Run This Town?, when Jay-Z came out as a surprise. The crowd went wild at that. Rihanna?s album will hit the stores this Monday, November 23. Will you be buying it?

Jay-Z is going to help Cheryl Cole

Ξ November 17th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Jay-Z |

It seems that the esteemed rapper and highly respected business man has taken it upon himself to help Cheryl Cole make her way through the bumpy road that is the American music industry. Apparently, Cheryl Cole is very thrilled to have Jay-Z helping her out as a source relates: “Cheryl is the biggest fan of Jay-Z and Beyonce. To hear the feeling is mutual has totally made her year. She never imagined her album would have taken off like this. To get Jay-Z’s support is beyond her wildest dreams.” Looks like Cheryl Cole is really starting off on the right foot in America? after all, who better to make a name for you in the music industry then a well established rapper, eh?
