The former Spice Girl is apparently going to be doing a new gig from now on: Melanie B is going to host the reality competition ?Dance Your Ass Off? and she will be replacing former host Marissa Jaret Winokur. This is what the producer of the show said about Melanie B?s new gig: “Oxygen looked at some things they wanted to change. Marissa was a fabulous host. She was great hosting the show and got great press, but they found in talking to the audience that there was a portion of the audience who loved her and a portion who didn’t connect with her. The core Oxygen audience grew up as Spice Girls fans, so they connect with Mel B.” It sure does pay to have played in a famous pop group, doesn?t it? The boy-bands however don?t seem to have done so well.
Carrie Underwood has recently released the music video for her latest single ?Cowboy Casanova?. It?s the first single off of the country singer?s upcoming third album ?Play On? which comes out on November 3. The 26-year old American Idol champ co-wrote this song with Mike Elizondo and Brett James. It?s a great song and it?s shaping up to be a hit. In other Carrie news, she and fellow country crooner Brad Paisley will be co-hosting the 2009 CMA Awards which will be held on November 11. Reports are saying that Madonna will be making a return to Saturday Night Live some time this season. The Queen of Pop is apparently set to make her return after 16 years and word has it that she?s also likely to be performing. However, execs of the show are trying to have her do both ? perform and host, that is. I think that the singer should do it all! I just hope that she doesn?t give current boy toy Jesus Luz any cameos unless he?s shirtless and he doesn?t talk at all. However, I do welcome cameos from her daughter Lourdes and her son Rocco.
Brit judge Piers Morgan blasted host Nick Cannon on America’s Got Talent, telling him “You’re the mean one!” after he tricked girl group The EriAm Sisters into thinking they had been voted off the show.
Piers was – almost – speechless after Nick told the girls that they hadn’t made it through to the semis on NBC’s Tuesday night show, then told they had – causing them all to burst into tears.
Afterwards, Nick laughed as he told the girls: ?Gotcha!?
Piers then said: ?That’s a mean trick you just played, Nick Cannon.
?You’re meaner than me and you call me the bad one. My God!?
David Hasselhoff was thrilled the girls got through with fellow singer Drew Stevyns.
The Hoff stood up and shouted at Nick: ?You’re the man!?
Nick tried to defend himself saying: ?I’m just doing what it says on the cards.?
Cheryl Cole is reportedly set to host a US version of The X Factor.
The star, who recently celebrated her 26th birthday, was reportedly handpicked by boss Simon Cowell, 49, to fly the flag for the show across the Atlantic.
Cole is a judge on the British version of the show and it is claimed NBC bosses will fly to Manchester this weekend to witness her in action at the live auditions.
A source said: “Simon is on the brink of signing a deal to take The X Factor to America and, if he gets his way, Cheryl will be its star. He thinks she has amazing presence and her down-to-earth Northern charm will appeal to the American public.
“She is also an incredibly beautiful girl. She won’t get paid anything like the ?1m salary she’s on here, because obviously she is not as well known in the States. But if it is a success, like most of Simon’s shows are, it could catapult her into the big league.”
