Bret Michaels was rushed to the hospital and is in critical condition after suffering from a subarachnoid hemorrhage last week. Subarachnoid hemorrhaging, which is bleeding at the base of one?s brain stem, is often a complication from diabetes, which the former Poison lead singer is known to suffer from. Reports are also stating that according to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, people who don’t receive proper medical treatment after suffering a subarachnoid hemorrhage have a 20% to 30% chance of experiencing a second bleed within the first month ? and the odds of surviving a second bleed are extremely slim. I sincerely hope that Bret recovers completely from this.
Tokio Hotel drummer Gustav Schaefer found himself in the hospital on Sunday night after a bar brawl at The Club in Magdeburg, Germany. Reports are saying that a man began insulting the musician which led to a fight that ultimately ended with Gustav being smashed on the head repeatedly with a couple of beer bottles. The rocker was rushed to the hospital to treat his wounds, one of which was a 3-centimeter gash on the back of Gustav?s head from the broken glass. The group?s manager released a statement regarding the matter saying ?Gustav was admitted to the hospital emergency room around 4.30am. The cuts on his head were stitched up immediately.? Gustav has all intention to press charges.
Sooner or later, someone?s going to have a hospital wing named after Amy Winehouse as the British singer has once again visited the hospital for the third time in three months last week. The doctors of St. Lucia knew the drill so well that Wino was even released the same night that she was admitted. Wino?s friends are worried that her latest trip will mean that she is still not ready to go back to the full swing of things regarding her career. Wino is scheduled to make a comeback performance in London at the end of this month and they are saying that she might not make it.
Jane?s Addiction front man Perry Farrell suffered an injury last Sunday night when the rocker tore his calf muscle onstage during a concert in Atlanta. The band was starting their song ?Three Days? when he tore his muscle, but in the true sense of being a performer, he went on through a full set in pain before getting any medical help. He was taken by ambulance to the Atlanta Medical Center immediately. Jane?s Addiction was only three days into their joint tour with Nine Inch Nails but don?t expect Perry to take a break. According to a statement, he plans to stay on schedule and keep performing. The only downside is that he may be sitting down as he has been ordered to stay off his leg.
Amy Winehouse was taken to the hospital in St. Lucia this past weekend. The singer?s spokesperson said that the reason behind the hospitalization was dehydration. Wino?s publicist said ?She fainted at home (in St Lucia) and they took her in for observation, mainly to do with her medication to check everything was OK. They told her that she was dehydrated and needed to drink more water.? Her publicist further claims that Wino was running around with a group of children before she passed out. She?s expected to perform at a jazz festival in St. Lucia later this week so I hope she feels better.
