For a second week, Eminem’s album “Recovery” is still on top. This is really of no surprise, the album selling 313,000 as Nielsen SoundScan reported. The album was sold in 1.1 million copies in the U.S., in two week’s time. The song “Love The Way You Lie” featuring Rihanna, also stays number one for a second week on the Digital Songs chart. The song was downloaded 280,000 times during these two weeks. The first single of this album was “Not Afraid” released on April 29 and landed number one on the Billboard Hot 100.
The rapper who had a bit of a problem with prescription drugs a while back has shared the secret to his ability of staying sober. Eminem related this on the matter: “How do you stay sober? My kids, and also I see a rehab counselor once a week. I’ve been clean for two years.” Strange… for a minute there you’d think that both Eminem and his kids see the rehab counselor. But that’s a misappropriate interpretation of what are actually some very heartfelt words on Eminem’s part… after all, not all junkies can rely on getting inspired to giving up their addiction on their kids.

It seems that Eminem?s work was not all in vain. The artist has recently been declared the top-selling artist of the decade with 33.2 million copies of his albums sold worldwide. The best-sold album however went to The Beatles? hits compilation. Well, well? looks like Eminem might as well retire now. Beyonce scooped three awards at the MTV Europe Music Awards at the ceremony to mark the tearing down of the Berlin Wall 20 years ago.

It was reported a while back that Eminem?s music publisher was going after Apple for the unauthorized sales of 93 of the rapper?s tracks on iTunes, claiming a copyright violation. The lawsuit has since been settled. Well that was quick! While the terms of the settlement are confidential, Eight Mile Style LLC?s attorney stated that ?the case was settled to the satisfaction of all parties.? Good for Eminem! Considering he?s pretty much considered washed up nowadays and has to ride on Mariah Carey for an ounce of attention, he can?t afford to lose the support he gets for his music from iTunes.

It looks like we have yet to see the end of the Eminem VS Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey story. The rapper has recently released a track called ?The Warning? which completely eviscerates the curvaceous singer and her husband. In the song, Eminem claims to have naked pictures of Mariah which he threatens to release and he calls Nick the F word, amongst other things. We can all be sure that Nick will have something to say about this. But of course, we also don?t expect that it will be as massive as what Eminem has to say. Nick should just admit defeat now.
It?s not like any of us thought otherwise but the butt-to-mouth incident between Eminem and Sacha Baron Cohen?s character Bruno at Sunday night?s 2009 MTV Movie Awards was all for show. Head writer Scott Aukerman confirmed on his blog that ?Yes, the Eminem-Bruno incident was staged. They rehearsed it at dress [rehearsal] and yes, it went as far as it did on the live show.? Insiders who attended the awards thought that ?There’s no way it was an accident? You don’t let two stars collide without a detailed plan.? Of course it wasn?t! As far as Eminem walking out after the skit, most of the big names at the show bailed after they did their part presenting/accepting/performing.
The rapper is planning to hold a free concert in Detroit when he will release his new album ?Relapse?. The relatively weird part is that there will be tickets and those tickets will be given away. The number of tickets got up 1500, the seat capacity of the MotorCity Casino where the concert will be held. Quite the bold move for Eminem, but after sitting so much time in the shadows, it?s a breath of fresh air. Still, you have to wonder if this idea has anything to do with his latest, serial-killer related source of inspiration? or the new hippie-oriented transformation.
Soulja Boy?s delusions of grandeur have given a new definition to the meaning of the phrase. The rapper keeps a tally of goals that he hopes to accomplish but the young Soulja has set the bar almost into outer space. First on his list is to tour with Rick Ross and Eminem. Then he wants to collaborate with Jay-Z, Kanye West and Lil Wayne for his upcoming album ?The DeAndre Way?. Do those guys even know him? The delusional rapper boasted to reporters ?Mark my words: This album will go platinum. It will be the best album I’ve put out so far. I don’t want no bullshit. I want, from start to finish, classic #1 records. I’m not playing.?

Nick Cannon wrote: “Not only has his music not evolved, but also homeboy is still obsessed with my wife. The same female that wouldn’t let him get to second base from 8 years ago. This so-called man has just disrespected and slenderized one of the world’s most significantly influential artists, one of the most notable BLACK females of our time, the incredibly cherished, globally loved and world-embraced woman of color, Mariah Carey.? Nick Cannon also prompted Eminem for the two of them to deal with the problem: “Man to man, let’s meet up and deal with this like adults. This is my invitation to you, whenever and wherever you like sir.” Indeed, very mature of Nick Cannon to want to kick Eminem?s ass for a song. And very mature of Eminem to be so direct with his lyrics and not try a more subtle approach? society has indeed evolved from its earlier cave days.
The self-proclaimed greatest rapper alive, Lil Wayne, became audience-proclaimed most bullshit rapper alive when he stood up 8,000 fans at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, New York recently. After he found the sound system not up to his standards, the rapper excused himself from teh show along with co-headliner Piles. What a diva! Fans were promised a refund though. Fellow rapper Ludacris came to the show?s rescue as best he could despite the bad sound system. His set was reportedly smooth and professional proving that someone who isn?t the world?s greatest can overcome less than stellar equipment. And by the way, Eminem was proclaimed the world?s greatest rapper alive.
