New Video from Scotty McCreery – The Trouble with Girls

Ξ October 28th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ American Idol, New Single, Video |

Scotty McCreery recently premiered the music video for his song “The Trouble with Girls”. The Mark Bright-produced country song serves as the second single from the American Idol winner’s debut album “Clear as Day”. The song is enjoyable but it’s failing to impress on the charts. Scotty has done a couple of high profile TV performances with it but he’s still very low on the Billboard 100 and nowhere to be seen on iTunes USA’s top 100. Anyway, the video is pretty nice with a sweet story behind it. It was actually shot at Garner Magnet High School in North Carolina where Scotty is currently a senior.

Taylor Swift speaks about her new tour

Ξ May 30th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Concert, Taylor Swift |

It seems that whoever is going to see Taylor Swift on her new tour is in for quite the show… as were the ones who attended her recent concert which featured a great number of theatrics that aren’t normally seen in concerts. When asked to describe her new tour, this is what Taylor Swift said: “The tour is exactly how my imagination looks and I’m so excited that we get to have these entire scenes created on stage.” Well it seems that Taylor Swift’s imagination surely is an amazing place. If it hasn’t already, this is bound to get the ticket sales for her next shows up a bit… and with good reason.

James Durbin Performs with Judas Priest

Ξ May 26th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ American Idol, Music People, Music Video, Performance |

Next to take the American Idol stage was James Durbin, dressed in all black with lots of spikes and studs, performing with rock and roll legends Judas Priest on “Breaking the Law”. James was clearly having the time of his life. This whole performance screamed so much of an actual concert for me. There were some serious pyro going on and just an all out amazing performance. James even got a standing ovation from the judges. Why couldn’t he have been part of the top 2? It would have been a more exciting finale night if he was. Do you have something against pure rock stars America?

American Idol Elimination Results

Ξ May 20th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ American Idol, Performance, TV Show |

We finally found out which two singers will be battling it out on American Idol season 10’s finale next week. After all the commercials, video packages and guest performances, Ryan Seacrest was handed the envelope, the lights were dimmed and someone was sent home. I was hoping for the top 2 to be Scotty McCreery and Haley Reinhart but after the performance night seeing Haley deal with some of the toughest songs and the judges siding more with Lauren Alaina, I was really nervous about the elimination. And apparently, I had reason to be when Ryan revealed that it was Haley that was going home. They may be touted as the most talented bunch but this season had robbed so many great singers that I’m saying this sucks the most.

Taylor Swift likes to get surprised by love

Ξ May 18th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Love and Romance, Taylor Swift |

It looks like the country singer is very partial to surprises, especially when they occur in her love life. This is what Taylor Swift had to say about how much she likes such occurrences: "There are no rules when it comes to love. I just try to let love surprise me because you never know who you’re going to fall in love with. You never know who’s going to come into your life – and for me, when I picture the person I want to end up with, I don’t think about what their career is, or what they look like. I picture the feeling I get when I’m with them." It’s nice to see that Taylor Swift still has such a positive attitude towards surprises in love… especially considering that all of her surprises thus far seem to have been rather unpleasant ones.

American Idol Elimination Results

Ξ May 6th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ American Idol, Jennifer Lopez, Lady Antebellum, Performance |

Most of the performers were on top of their game for this past Wednesday’s performance night on American Idol while others failed to impress. With three weeks left to go in the competition, there’s just no excuse to just coast along. Before announcing who was at the bottom, Ryan Seacrest announced that there were 60 million votes cast. After getting reviews from Jimmy Iovine, we saw Lauren Alaina standing with Jacob Lusk, and James Durbin standing with Haley Reinhart. Scotty was asked to choose to stand with the duo who he thought was safe. When he refused, Ryan led him over to Haley and James and announced that they were safe. And as I had hoped, we said goodbye to Jacob last night. Did you agree with the results?

Kenny Chesney Lands 20th #1

Ξ April 28th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Album Release, CMT Awards, Kenny Chesney |

I was quite impressed with Kenny Chesney when his album “Hemingway’s Whiskey” hit the number 1 spot on both the Soundscan Top 200 and the Country Albums charts. Now, the country singer’s success continues as his single “Live a Little” has become his 20th number 1 on Billboard’s Country Songs airplay chart. The song also marks Kenny’s third number 1 country songs hit from “Hemingway’s Whiskey”. Congratulations to Kenny on his success! He continues to impress and I don’t think he’s going to stop impressing any time soon. Are you among the people who have helped his song and his album reach this type of success?

Kelly Clarkson Returns to American Idol

Ξ April 15th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ American Idol, Kelly Clarkson, Rihanna |

Kelly Clarkson made her triumphant return to American Idol last night when she performed a duet with Jason Aldean. The pop star and the country singer delivered a fantastic rendition of their single “Don’t You Wanna Stay”, the second single from Jason’s fourth album “My Kinda Party”. The song has garnered huge success in the US and I’m sure it will gain even more steam after that performance. It was top notch. Jason did his thing but Kelly definitely stole the show with her beautiful vocals. It just made me want for her next album to come sooner. I hope the Idols took notes from her last night. Kelly is definitely a pro!

Taylor Swift Covers Mumford & Sons – White Blank Page

Ξ April 8th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Taylor Swift, Video |

Following a banjo-picking performance of her hit single “Mean” at the ACMs, Taylor Swift kept strumming along to offer a great form of flattery to British indie rock band Mumford & Sons. The 21-year old pop/country singer laid down a beautiful rendition of the band’s song “White Blank Page” for BBC. Mumford & Sons’ popularity is on a steady rise and I have no doubt that Taylor’s cover of their song will give them even more of a push. Whether you’re a fan of hers or not, you can’t deny that she did the song more than just a little bit of justice.

Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow are making me think that they used to be an item – were they or weren’t they? Anyway, the chemistry between the two singers is undeniable especially after having a look at the music video for their latest collaboration “Collide”, which is included on Kid Rock’s latest album “Born Free”. The song is the fifth single to come off of the late 2010 release. I’m totally feeling the sweet country rock sound. Kid Rock and Sheryl sound amazing together. I think they should do more songs together. The video just oozes of some chemistry and love.

Taylor Swift Raps

Ξ February 7th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift |

It looks like Nicki Minaj may have some competition when it comes to being a female rapper. During a visit to Nashville’s 107.5 radio last week, Taylor Swift showed off some rap skills when she rapped a few lyrics from Nicki’s “Super Bass”. The country singer was asked to choose any song she wanted and the radio show’s DJ would play it right away. In a surprising move, Taylor selected Nicki’s song and rapped a few of the lines for kicks. I know it’s impossible for Taylor to release an album outside the country and pop genre but if she wants to have a bit of fun, I wouldn’t rule out rapping.

Carrie Underwood is becoming quite the soccer mom

Well, actually hockey mom… and, not mom just yet, but she does seem to be on the right path for it. It seems that whenever Carrie Underwood is home alone because her new husband has to play a game in another city, being a married and honorable woman, there’s not much for her to do. This is what Carrie Underwood related about those difficult moments: “It is hard being a hockey wife. They will go off for a few days at a time to play some road games, and I am just like sitting at home twiddling my thumbs thinking, ‘What do I do?’ I cleaned, and we are moving into a new house, and so I was unpacking all of his stuff. And laundry and dishes.” Laundry, dishes and cleaning… and she’s only been married near half-a-year. Carrie Undewood’s husband must sure be happy to have her under his roof.

Taylor Swift Talks Songwriting

Ξ October 23rd, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Taylor Swift |

While talking about her upcoming album Speak Now, Taylor Swift revealed that she will never stop taking material from her life and putting them into music. The country singer said It sort of is what it is. I’ve had this formula for a long time that I’ve kind of applied to my music. If I continue to write music about my life and my life is always changing, then my music is always changing. And if I change that whole process of writing music, that entire process of writing songs in my bedroom about what I’m going through at that moment because the only way I know how to understand pain or move past it is to write songs about it if I change that, I’m really more changing a part of who I am. And I don’t really want to start doing that It’s understandable [having reservations about dating her], but I’ve never kept quiet the fact that I write songs about people. It’s like, this is album number three. You guys have had fair warning!

Jessica Simpson Snubs Veterans

Ξ October 19th, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Christmas, Concert Gig, Jessica Simpson |

After inviting The 4Troops, a singing group of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans, to join Jessica Simpson onstage for her PBS Christmas special in New York City this past Thursday, the vets ended up getting snubbed because of their wardrobe. A source said Jessica’s dad, Joe Simpson, effectively kicked them off the show because he didn’t like what they were wearing. They were in camo pants and blazers, the same outfits they wore to sing for Gen. David Petraeus on the USS Intrepid. They were told they couldn’t perform unless they were wearing tuxedos. She should be ashamed of herself! But the failed country singer and actress told a different story. Jessicas rep said The song was cut due to time. Jessica wasn’t even aware. She is wholeheartedly devoted to the troops. She just returned from the Persian Gulf where she performed for and met with service men and women stationed at several different locations. The military was the source of inspiration for her entire Christmas album, so much so that she recorded a duet for the album with a USS Harry Truman sailor. Whatever.

Taylor Swift has revealed that she has put a lot of her own life into the songs on her upcoming album Speak Now. In a new interview with Glamour magazine, the country singer reveals Everything that happens to me gets put into a song. For some reason, I’m really comfortable talking about my personal life in songs. There, I don’t hold back: names, dates, times, expressions on people’s faces, exactly where we were and how it felt, what I wish I would have said to them in the moment. This album could very well be known as the official Taylor Swift autobiography.

Taylor Swift has managed to win multiple trophies from just about every music awards show I can think of and Im beginning to think that the country singer can win just about anything. That was recently proven when the International Bowling Museum just inducted Taylor into the Hall of Fame. Steven Johnson, executive director of the BPAA, explains In many ways, Taylor Swift perfectly represents the current face of bowling, especially as the sport enjoys unprecedented growth in popularity among youth, women and young adults. The best part is that her honor was voted upon through an online poll, with 1.3 million votes for Taylor, followed closely behind by Justin Bieber.

When it comes on the radio, I sing it so loud and I’m so embarrassed! Because I so freely sing it so loud! You can’t help it! The song, it’s not a bad song. It’s a great song! I think it’s just because it’s very whimsical in a way that I’m not necessarily whimsical every day. When it comes on, I just get this I wanna sing it! Every woman feels that way. It?s so sad that Tim Urban won?t be there anymore? she sure could?ve made a real star out of him.

This is what happens when two people cheat to get into a relationship? or at least in the country music circles. It seems that LeAnn Rimes and her new boyfriend Eddie Cibrian were recently invited to the Country Music Awards where he was even supposed to give out an award. But as Eddie Cibrian got on stage the people from the press room started calling him a cheater. It was probably at this point that LeAnn Rimes figured it wouldn?t do well to even show her face there. It seems the two are now outcasts in the country music circles. Poor LeAnn Rimes, never again will she sing of the wonders of the West.

Kid Rock Loses Lawsuit

Ξ March 17th, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Kid Rock |

Kid Rock has to pay three guys who sued him over an alleged fight last year. The singer has to fork over $35,000 ? that isn?t at all bad considering that they originally demanded $15 million. The three men who filed the lawsuit last year claimed that the country rock star and three members of the Boo-Yaa Tribe hip hop group assaulted them outside of an LA hotel in 2006. The jury in the case reached the verdict and ordered Kid Rock to fork over the money for the three guys to split. It doesn?t sound so bad until you figure out that they weren?t awarded any attorneys fees which means that a nice chunk of that money, if not all, will be handed over to their lawyers.
