It seems to have been quite some time since Coldplay released a new single, but lo! and behold the day has finally come and the band has released their new song called “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall”. Coldplay’s new song is a pretty fast-paced and optimistic sounding thing. It has a steady pace and Chris Martin’s vocals, even though not extraordinary, seem to blend very well into the whole thing. The song itself sounds like some sort of a combination of pop and a little psychedelic rock. This new song of Coldplay’s is probably going to bring them back into the charts for a bit… or maybe even longer than that if the gods are smiling.

The band is apparently going to be going epic with their next album as Chris Martin revealed that it is going to be a concept album. This is what Coldplays front man had to say on the matter: “It’s from the point of view of two people who are a bit lost. Two like-minded outsiders who meet in a very difficult environment and therefore have a journey together. It’s a concept album but it’s supposed to be very personal within a big framework. Does that make sense? I’m so lucky that we have that group, in as much as there are a lot of people who don’t like us in the world, but there would be a lot more without this filtering system. Think of the rubbish that doesn’t get out, if you don’t like the stuff that does.” So it seems that Coldplay have taken the high road and decided to experiment a little. They might not have as much success as they did, but they will certainly grow more and appreciate themselves as artists.
The band has recently entered the Christmas spirit vigorously, especially given the release of their latest music video Christmas Lights. Visually, the video is a reasonably fun watch, it isnt too pompous, but it isnt lacking in nice imagery there are even a couple of fireworks at the end which might work for some people. The music on the other hand is disappointing, especially given that Coldplay are the ones singing. The song is a pretty mellow piece about a sad Christmas and Coldplay couldve done so much more with it, but it does seem like they didnt put too much effort into the writing and just went with common stuff.
If youre an insomniac and your iTunes isnt filled to the brim with Coldplay music, then youre doing yourself a disservice. According to a Travelodge survey, the UK band is on top of the list of artists that helps people fall asleep. And just in case Coldplay isnt enough for you, the rest of the top 10 are as follows: Michael Buble, Snow Patrol, Alicia Keys, Jack Johnson, Taylor Swift, Mozart, Barry White, Leona Lewis and Radiohead. How cool is it that Mozart managed to creep in between all those contemporary artists? Do these artists help you fall asleep or are there others that do the trick for you?
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin said he has no plans to release a solo album and thinks the idea would be ‘cringeworthy’.
Martin, 33, said he had been chatting to Natasha Khan from band Bat For Lashes about the thought of a solo album and decided that he is nothing without the band behind him.
He said to UK’s Q magazine: “This is going to sound cheesy, but what makes a great frontman is the great people behind him.
“I had this conversation yesterday with Natasha from Bat For Lashes, who’s on tour with us, and we were talking about how if Bono or I were to release solo albums, they’d be cringeworthy.
“It’s still the same person singing, but the gang aspect makes you acceptable.
“If you take me out of the band, I can’t dance, I can’t do what Beyonce can do.
“I’m only surviving on enthusiasm and collective chemistry. All frontmen become s**t as soon as the perceived least important member of their band leaves.”
Coldplay is on its way back. According to lead singer Chris Martin, the band hopes to release a new album in 2010 ? hopefully near Christmas. They are currently at work in their secret studio in London which is said to be a converted church. No tracks will end up getting leaked this time as Chris said ?There’s only two people in the whole building who know how to open all the recording files. Even we [Coldplay] don’t know how to do it. We couldn’t even steal our own music at the moment. You would have to be a computer genius and a great burglar to get into the building, and download it, and mix it.?
Coldplay recently postponed their concert at the Ford Amphitheatre in Tampa this past Sunday due to ?artist related medical reasons?. The band released an official statement on their website which reads ?We’re sorry to report that Coldplay have been forced to postpone their show at the Ford Amphitheatre in Tampa on Sunday, August 9th. This is due to medical reasons. The show is currently being rescheduled – we’ll give you the new details as soon as we have them. In the meantime, the band have asked us to apologise on their behalf for the inconvenience this causes.? I wonder what happened.

Coldplay front man Chris Martin has finally come out to talk about the accusations that he has ripped off guitarist Joe Satriani?s ?If I Could Fly?, which bears resemblance to the hit ?Viva La Vida?. Yusaf Islam, formerly known as Cat Stevens, also claims that the hit Coldplay song took from one of his songs too. Chris said ?If everyone’s trying to take away our best song, then we’d better write 25 better ones. And so just at the point where I was thinking about getting fat and becoming complacent, I’ve been finding more inspiration. Now we’ve got more to prove than ever before. Some people are suing us at the moment and although it was initially a bit depressing, now it’s become really inspiring.? Obviously, he?s never heard of the term originality.
Coldplay wants to be nice to their fans and promote their live CD ?LeftRightLeftRightLeft? while they?re at it. For the rest of the band?s concerts this year, they will be giving away free live CDs to everyone who attends their shows, not including festivals. According the their website, starting with their first North American tour date on May 15th, ?every fan attending a show will be given a free copy of the nine-track CD, which won’t be available elsewhere.? Also on that date, the album will be available to download for free on their site. The free CDs are apparently meant as a ?recession-busting mark of gratitude to everyone who’s supported them.? Coldplay says ?Playing live is what we love. This album is a thank you to our fans ? the people who give us a reason to do it and make it happen.?
In a US federal court, Coldplay has denied any similarities between Joe Satriani?s ?If I Could Fly? and their hit ?Viva La Vida?, fighting the guitar icon?s December copyright infringement lawsuit. Adding arrogance to their being douche bags, the British band also claimed that Satriani?s piece ?lacks originality? and should therefore receive no copyright protection at all. Satriani?s lawyer said that the band?s response is typical and that he felt like the situation could have been handled without legal action. In other words, things would have not gotten ugly if it wasn?t for the band turning out to be made of complete divas.
The British rock band has supposedly come to the decision of taking a wee bit of a break to figure out what direction they want to take their music. Coldplay?s lead guitarist, Johnny Buckland, said: “We ended up doing much more touring than we originally planned so there’s no time to do proper justice to a new project. And anyway people may need a bit of a break from us. We’re taking a little break and let’s see where we get after that. We’ve got a lot of ideas but we want to find a new way to go and that may take some time.” It seems like Coldplay might be a little bit bored with themselves. Or they figured that since U2 might be blowing into the ethereal winds soon, they can afford a bit of a vacation. After all, it?s not like the fans are going anywhere.
Back in December, music man Joe Satriani is alleging that Coldplay?s ?Viva La Vida? is a rip off of his song ?I Just Wanna Fly?. The iconic guitarist asserts that the band has dodged being served his plagiarism lawsuit but hopes that it won?t be the case much longer. He and his lawyer are planning to fill the Grammys with servers ready to pounce on Coldplay. The lawyer representing Joe said ?We have warned their British lawyers that we have hired a fleet of process servers lined up to dog the band everywhere they go this weekend in the hopes of serving them.?
It?s been quite a good year for Coldplay as the group had the most downloaded album on iTunes this year. Their ?Viva La Vida? has been named the best selling album of 2008. Since its release in June, the British band?s CD has sold more than 2 million copies and over 500,000 digital downloads. The number 2 best selling album online is Jack Johnson?s ?Sleep through the Static?, followed by the soundtrack to ?Juno?. The best selling single goes to Leona Lewis? ?Bleeding Love?. The singer sold 3.2 million digital downloads for her song which was followed by Coldplay?s title track.
The Oasis singer has recently spilled out a bit of hate in Coldplay?s way: “I don’t give a shit about Coldplay. We are the coolest band and we are the best fucking band. We are the most important band. We may not be the biggest band in America but who would want that?” Now, now, watch the temper. It?s really sad when somebody gets this frustrated and starts believing such things? and even worse, spilling them out like that. He?s probably just a bit upset that Chris Martin wants to be ?immortalized? in wax. Maybe he should try to arrange the same thing for Oasis, it might make him feel better.
The Coldplay singer has recently given this answer to the press when asked what he cannot get while in America: ?Laid. Oh and maybe a Toffee Crisp.” The singer also mentioned that he split his pants for the first time on stage during his American tour and explained why: “I split my trousers for the first time on stage recently. I aspire to ripping my trousers. It shows I am enjoying myself.” Of course he?s enjoying himself? and given his previous words, we would never think of correlating them and saying that it?s the real reason for which he had that gesture on stage.
