Drake is the latest celebrity to have a plane named after him on Virgin Airlines thanks to Sir Richard Branson. The singer/rapper is also the first hip hop artist to have a commercial plane named after him. Air Drake is in the Virgin America fleet and will fly between Drake’s native Toronto and California destinations. Branson said “We’re honored to name our plane Air Drake. He’s Canadian through and through; he’s one of the most successful Canadians. He bridges the gap between Canada and America very successfully.” I wonder if Drake will get any perks if he flies in his own plane.
Jay-Z spends roughly around $250,000 to spend 55 hours on a private jet and that’s with a celebrity discount. However, according to a new lawsuit, the rapper never paid the entire cost to fly in style. Jay-Z is being sued by Air Platinum Holding, a private jet company which claims that the rap mogul spent 55 hours on their planes back in 2009 but only paid for 37 hours of service. The lawsuit also claims that the rapper flaked out on other payments. It breaks down to 18 hours of flight time for $81,000, catering for 17 domestic flights for $8,500, catering for 4 international flights for $3000, international fees for $8,500, taxes for $12,285 and a luxury trip to England for $24,200. This is why most people just fly coach.
Kanye West’s ex Amber Rose says that the rapper has saved her life by helping her make a name for herself in the fashion industry. The model says “Honestly, Kanye saved my life, and I don’t even think about what I would have been; I just think about what I’m going to be…I don’t look at myself as a celebrity. I’m just a dope chick from South Philly! I mean, it’s crazy when fans come up to me and cry and just want a hug from me. It bugs me out! The summer camp that Britney Spears created for under privileged kids back in 1999 is in serious danger of going under unless they find some serious cash ASAP. The camp, a 10-day summer program for 250 ?economically disadvantaged students?, was originally named the Britney Spears Camp for the Performing Arts until the pop singer bowed out in 2004. After that, the cam was renamed Summer Stars Camp and received donations from sponsors like 50 Cent and the Jonas Brothers. However, the camp has now run out of money and can?t find any celebrity sponsors this year. This is the first time they?ve had this type of issue since the camp was founded. The director claims that the camp is in need of $250,000 to stay afloat and have entered a contest run by Pepsi in an effort to score a grant.
Now that Lil Wayne is finally serving his time in jail at New York?s Rikers Island prison on weapons charges, the rapper has been ordered to not sign autographs. He has been warned to avoid publicizing his celebrity and giving autographs to any of the other inmates. A representative of the Correction Officer?s Benevolent Association said ?Lil Wayne is not a celebrity in here.? It looks like the rapper is in for a rough time. Rikers has been known to not really treat their celebrity inmates any better than any other goon. And that?s good since he deserves it after all the lucky breaks he had.

The rock star bared it all in his latest ad called ?Ink, Not Mink? in order to convince people to ?be comfortable in your own skin and let animals keep theirs?. As a former fur-wearer, the musician has since changed his ways saying ?Several years ago I saw video footage of animals being skinned alive and screaming, and it honestly is the most horrific, inhumane thing I’ve ever seen. The singer managed to rack up a whopping 42% of the votes for that category, edging out Britney Spears and Kanye West. Considering the recent happenings regarding the rapper, you know it?s bad when you?re voted to be worse than he is. Sources are chalking it up to the fact that she?s seeking a career separate from Disney and her alter-ego Hannah Montana. It really sounds like Miley is heading down the same path that Britney did.
MTV has decided that they will air ?Gone Too Far?, the documentary series on young drug addicts that the late DJ AM finished just three days before he died from an accidental overdose. The network says that they got the consent and support of the late entertainer?s family before choosing to run the eight-episode series which features him working with real life drug addicts and their families to help them overcome substance abuse. MTV released a statement saying ?It is our hope through airing this show that people will get to see the side of Adam that we knew and loved, not just the celebrity DJ, but the honest and caring person who gave so much of himself to help others.? The series will premiere on Monday.
You can add R&B singer Ne-Yo to the list of celebrity wannabes aiming for a crossover career as he will be taking a break from the music business by joining the cast of ?Battle: Los Angeles?. The science-fiction war film will also star the likes of Aaron Eckhart, Michelle Rodriguez, Bridget Moynahan and Michael Pe?a. Ne-Yo will play a corporal in the platoon fighting off the aliens. It sounds like a lame version of ?War of the Worlds? or ?Independence Day? to me. The singer has also landed a gig with Disney, penning and performing the closing song for ?The Princess and the Frog?.
