15 years ago, Smashing Pumpkins lead singer Billy Corgan ignited a feud with indie rock band Pavement. 15 years later, the rock star is still at it. As you all know, Smashing Pumpkins is re-launching for a new album and tour later this month. One of the tour stops is in Brazil and Billy has just learned that he will be sharing the stage with his rivals Pavement. Billy then took to his Twitter to comment, saying Just found out SP is playing with Pavement in Brazil. It’s gonna be 1 of those New Orleans type funerals. I say that because they represent the death of the alternative dream, and we follow with the affirmation of life part. Funny how those who pointed the big finger of ‘sell out’ are the biggest offenders now. Yawn. they have no love We’ll be the band up there playing NEW songs because we have the love. Talk about bad blood.
After cancelling a private show in Brazil at the last minute, Guns N Roses had a big problem on their hands. The band was due to play in front of an exclusive crowd, which included supermodel Ana Beatriz Barros at the Sao Paulo club, but when it was announced that the concert had been cancelled, the crowd went nuts! A source said ?The audience got angry and started to mount the stage, and fight and destroy everything. It was wild. There were fights everywhere, on the dance floor, in the bathrooms, outside the club. Crazy. I guess the free drinks didn’t help.? I wonder if they have the balls to reschedule.
Mariah Carey?s new music hasn?t been doing much good over in the US but can you believe that the singer is actually an epic star in Brazil? The curvaceous singer?s Foreigner cover ?I Want to Know What Love Is?, a song that barely got any airplay in the US, has been on the Brazilian charts for 20 consecutive weeks at the top spot! The song has even received the honor of being the longest chart topping song in the country?s history. That?s absolutely crazy. Congratulations all the same to Mariah Carey. The Brazilians just saved your music career so you better do something good to thank them.
Beyonce recently shot a guest spot in Alicia Keys? new music video ?Put it in a Love Song? in the Morro da Conceicao slum of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil this past Tuesday. The song is from Alicia?s latest album ?The Element of Freedom?. Speaking of Beyonce, the R&B singer is also rumored to star in the remake of the classic ?A Star is Born?. Russell Crowe may play the aging, alcoholic musician who mentors and falls in love with Beyonce?s character. I?m all for the classics but I?m not sure about the remake of that movie. Beyonce is definitely no Barbra Streisand.
