Rihanna and Chris Brown Video War

Ξ November 13th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Chris Brown, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Rihanna |

Rihanna is going to debut her music video for her single ?Russian Roulette? on 20/20 tonight while Chris Brown will be doing the same with his music video for ?Crawl? on the Wendy Williams Show. The two singers and former lovers both have spots on the Billboard Top 100 at the moment with the Barbadian babe?s collaboration with Jay-Z and Kanye West ?Run this Town? at number 7, and R&B douche at number 24 with ?I Can Transform Ya?. Some people aren?t surprised that fans are still buying Chris? albums, with one psychologist saying ?His fans will keep buying his albums because they want to feel like they are helping him. Supporting him through this tough time makes fans feel like they are a part of Brown’s inner circle.?

More Hits for Lady Gaga

Ξ November 9th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Billboard, Lady Gaga, New Single, Top List |

Lady Gaga?s latest hit ?Bad Romance? debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 last week at number 9! That makes it the fifth Top 10 single in America for the pop princess. The singer?s hit ?Paparazzi? is still going strong at number 6 on the Hot 100 too! Lady Gaga is also at number 3 on the Digital Songs with 142,000 downloads of ?Bad Romance?. With that, she?s getting ever so close to reaching five number 1 singles from a single album. I have no doubt that it?s going to happen. We all just have to wait just a few more weeks, perhaps even just one.

More Broken Records for Taylor Swift

Ξ November 5th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Billboard, Nickelback, Record Sale, Taylor Swift |

Taylor Swift doesn?t seem to be slowing down as the country singer officially has Billboard?s longest charting album of this century with her self-titled debut album. ?Taylor Swift? was first released in October 2006 and now in its 157th week in the Top 200 albums chart beating out previous record holder Nickelback. If the cutie?s first album has done this well, I can?t wait to see how well ?Fearless? ends up doing. I can just imagine it breaking even more records. Congratulations Taylor! You are truly one amazing talent. I don?t think us music fans will ever get to see another one like you in our lifetime.

Madonna Makes History

Ξ September 16th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Billboard, Madonna, Music Chart |

Madonna just keeps on blowing minds and breaking records and it looks like she?s not going to stop any time soon. In the September 26th issue of Billboard, the Queen of Pop?s single ?Celebration? has become the singer?s 40th number one single on the Hot Dance Club Play Chart. That?s more hit singles than any other artist in the history of the chart! Talk about achieving a great milestone. I bet the second placer with regards to number one hits doesn?t even come close. Madonna is utterly amazing! Congratulations are definitely due out to her. And you can bet that there?s more where that came from.

Katy Perry Grabs Top Spot

Ξ August 4th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Avril Lavigne, Billboard, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga |

Multi-platinum pop singer Katy Perry just nabbed another number one hit with her latest single ?Waking Up in Vegas?. That song makes it the singer?s third number one Top 40 song from her debut album ?One of the Boys?. There have only been three other artists in the history of the Billboard charts to have achieved that feat, including Ace of Base, Avril Lavigne and Lady Gaga. Wow. Avril?s in the list? Anyway, back to Katy. Congratulations to her! I?m such a big fan of hers and I couldn?t be more proud that she?s achieved that milestone. I?m sure she?s got plenty more up her sleeves for us to watch out for.

Mariah Carey?s Single Slips Hard

Ξ July 29th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Mariah Carey, Music Chart |

Mariah Carey?s mediocre single ?Obsessed? debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at a very disappointing number 11. The new charts came in recently and as it was predicted, the singer has suffered a steep decline. Mariah?s single has dropped to number 20 and it?s likely that it won?t even crack the top 10 at all. Radio hasn?t been that receptive to the song and Mariah had just announced that she is delaying the release of her new album. That sucks for her. She needs to come out with a new song and hope that it will do loads better than the song that?s out right now.

AEG in Big Trouble

Ξ July 2nd, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Billboard, Concert, Concert Gig, Michael Jackson |

Michael Jackson?s 50-show run at London?s O2 Arena was set to be the highest grossing single concert engagement if it took place. The concert promoter, AEG Live, went all out on the production and may now be facing some serious financial problems. According to Billboard, AEG sold $85 million worth of tickets along with $30 million spent on spent on production and $10 given to the late singer as an advanced payment. They?re not sure whether nonappearance insurance will cover the unfortunate situation. If the King of Pop died from a drug overdose or a pre-existing condition, the producer will not get reimbursed and will be forced to refund 750,000 already purchased tickets.

‘The E.N.D.’ Marks The Group’s First #1 Album & Their Highest Sales Week Ever!

Black Eyed Peas’ “The E.N.D.” bows at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, selling 304,000 — the hip-pop act’s best sales week ever. It’s also the first No. 1 album for the group, which had previously gone as high as No. 2. Its last set, 2005′s “Monkey Business,” bowed in the runner-up slot with a then-best 291,000. It had the unfortunate luck to come out the same week as Coldplay’s “X&Y,” which kept the Peas’ at bay when it started at No. 1 with 737,000. -via Billboard.com

Twilight Tops the Charts

Ξ November 19th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ AC/DC, Billboard, Movies, Soundtrack |

The movie might not even be in theaters yet but the soundtrack for the vampire movie ?Twilight? has snatched the top spot on the Billboard charts from rock icons AC/DC. The soundtrack has sold around 165,000 copies last week. 29% of which, or 48,000 were digital downloads. The soundtrack for the movie scored the second biggest digital download week for a soundtrack since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking album download sales in 2004. The biggest digital week honor goes to ?High School Musical 2? back in August 2007 when the soundtrack sold 62,000 downloads in a week. If the soundtrack is any indication, the movie ?Twilight? is going to be huge!
