Foo Fighters have a new music video – Rope

Ξ March 14th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Foo Fighters, Video |

The band has released a new music video for their song “Rope”. Actually, this can hardly be called a music video since it’s mainly just a performance video in which the band just plays their song in a white room. But then again this is pretty fashionable for alternative rock bands it would seem and Foo Fighters don’t want to fall in behind. The song itself isn’t really half bad, the instrumentation and the lyrics are within reasonable limits and Dave Grohl’s vocals seem to add a bit of a twist to everything, even though this sounds like your basic alternative rock piece. There’s also somewhat of a light show toward the end of the music video. If there are any Foo Fighters fans out there who are tired to just listening to the song and want a few images to associate with the music, then they might want to give this music video a view or two.

Linkin Park has a new music video – Burning in the Skies

Ξ February 23rd, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Linkin Park, MuchMusic Video, Music |

The band has recently released a new music video for the song “Burning in the Skies”. This new music video of theirs can most accurately be described as slow. Not much going on in Linkin Park’s new video even though it has a lot of special effects, but it does seem to fit to the mellow and melancholic tone of the song itself. The director of Linkin Park’s new music video certainly saw something in “Burning in the Skies” and he tried to distill its essence and transmit it through images, but he doesn’t seem to have managed not to be too cryptic. Still, it will probably prove a good view for Linkin Park fans and others, even though the song too is not so much reminiscent of what the band is best known for.

Radiohead have a new music video – Lotus Flower

Ξ February 21st, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Radiohead, Video |

The band who have recently released their brand new album a day earlier than expected have also released a new music video for the song “Lotus Flower”. Radiohead’s new music video is rather strange as it is shot completely in black & white and it only features Thom Yorke dancing in front of what appears to be a warehouse of sorts… the dance itself is rather unnerving. The song mainly follows the same line… no Radiohead alternative rock here, just a steady electro beat and a few variations in-between, but it mostly all concentrates on Thom Yorke’s singing. This is probably Radiohead’s idea of an experiment so maybe their fans will want to check it out, but even they might find it a bit hard to interpret and even like.

Coldplays next album will be epic

Ξ December 16th, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Album, Coldplay |

The band is apparently going to be going epic with their next album as Chris Martin revealed that it is going to be a concept album. This is what Coldplays front man had to say on the matter: “It’s from the point of view of two people who are a bit lost. Two like-minded outsiders who meet in a very difficult environment and therefore have a journey together. It’s a concept album but it’s supposed to be very personal within a big framework. Does that make sense? I’m so lucky that we have that group, in as much as there are a lot of people who don’t like us in the world, but there would be a lot more without this filtering system. Think of the rubbish that doesn’t get out, if you don’t like the stuff that does.” So it seems that Coldplay have taken the high road and decided to experiment a little. They might not have as much success as they did, but they will certainly grow more and appreciate themselves as artists.

Kings of Leon have a new music video Pyro

Ξ December 13th, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Kings of Leon, Video |

The rockers from Kings of Leon have recently released a new music video for their song Pyro. The video itself is a fairly interesting thing as it features Kings of Leon playing in a sleazy strip bar. Except for the band itself, everything else seems to happen in slow motion and a guy starts a bar fight that has a rather unexpected result. Musically the song is a soft rock piece, very mellow, seemingly melancholic with some pretty cryptic lyrics, but King of Leon have probably hidden a sense in there somewhere for anybody who is patient enough to look for it. All in all its not a very bad waste of four minutes.

Coldplay have a new video Christmas Lights

Ξ December 2nd, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Christmas, Coldplay, Video |

The band has recently entered the Christmas spirit vigorously, especially given the release of their latest music video Christmas Lights. Visually, the video is a reasonably fun watch, it isnt too pompous, but it isnt lacking in nice imagery there are even a couple of fireworks at the end which might work for some people. The music on the other hand is disappointing, especially given that Coldplay are the ones singing. The song is a pretty mellow piece about a sad Christmas and Coldplay couldve done so much more with it, but it does seem like they didnt put too much effort into the writing and just went with common stuff.

Caleb Followills little memory problem

Ξ October 21st, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Kings of Leon |

The singer from Kings of Leon recently admitted that he had a little addiction problem with the prescription drugs and, moreover, it affected his memory. This is what Caleb Followill related on the matter: ” ‘Only By The Night’ was the most messed up. That was the party record. I don’t remember a lot of it. I had surgery on my shoulder so they gave me pain pills which I kind of got hooked on.” Well, a little memory loss now and then isnt such a bad thing. Maybe stuff happened during that time that Caleb Followill is better off forgetting. Hopefully he didnt forget any of the music he was playing at the time. That would be very professionally detrimental.

Billy Idol will be writing an autobiography

Ξ October 14th, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Book |

Its probably that time of the life, isnt it? It seems that Billy Idol has made the monumental decision of writing an autobiography. It will be entitled Dancing With Myself and the singer has promised not to leave out any of the spicy and rather unheard details. It is set to be out in a year or two, probably depending on how much time Billy Idol can rip out of his very busy schedule to get working on this. Has Billy Idol really reached that point in his career where there is nothing more to squeeze out of it but an autobiography?

Linkin Park is going eco

Ξ June 8th, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Linkin Park |

It seems that the band has other things on their agenda rather than selling out concerts or albums. The guys from Linkin Park were recently present at a construction site in California where they helped out to build eco-homes for the needy. Apparently this is all part of Linkin Parks Music for Relief charity. Even though theyre not out there selling-out, this course of action might just help them to do that. After all, any eco-freak is bound to support Linkin Park in endeavors such as this. But it is commendable nonetheless you dont see these guys going out and buying ten million-dollar mansions in California.

Brandon Flowers is going solo

Ξ May 1st, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Album, The Killers |

It looks like The Killers? front man is getting a bit bored with his band and he?s thinking about trying something different. So Brandon Flowers is going to go solo and on the band?s official site any fans can subscribe to a newsletter that follows the evolution of Brandon Flowers? upcoming album. Considering it?s on the band?s website, they?re probably still going to be playing together as well, which brings in mind the following question: what?s Brandon Flowers going to do for a solo album? Play all of the instruments himself? Because getting session musicians would really be utterly pointless?

Green Day getting a new release ready

Ξ March 24th, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Album, Album Release, Green Day |

While others can?t stand being famous and successful, Green Day sure have no problem with it. In fact, they seem to love it so much that they?re actually getting ready for a new album even though their last was released less than a year ago. This is what Billie-Joe Armstrong said about it: “We did some demos in Berlin, some in Stockholm, some just outside of Glasgow and some in Amsterdam,” said Armstrong. “We wanted to get down in some early form.” So, Green Day are using Europe to probe the field for their next album? they?ve become quite the little marketing geniuses, haven?t they? Maybe it will stick this time around too.

Kings of Leon still on Columbia Records

Ξ January 25th, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Kings of Leon |

It seems that the last info on Kings of Leon getting a new and unique deal with Warner Brothers Records was a bit inaccurate. The band has recently come out and stated that there is no other deal and that they are keeping true to Columbia Records. This is what the guys from Kings of Leon said on the matter: “Consider the source. Kings of Leon have always had and continue to have a great relationship with their label.” It?s probably true though? what band would actually want to pay for their own recording, anyway? Nasty stuff? the way the labels can control them these days, that?s good. Why would Kings of Leon ever even want to change that?

The Killers cancel Asian tour

Ξ January 25th, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Concert, The Killers |

It seems the band has suddenly cancelled their Asian tour without any real explanations. There is only a very straightforward statement of The Killers? official site that reads as follows: ?The Killers have been forced to cancel their appearances in Singapore, Beijing, Hong Kong, Manila, Tokyo and Seoul due to unforeseen circumstances. The band deeply apologizes to their fans and hope to reschedule their shows in these cities soon. At this time the bands Australian appearances remain scheduled as planned.? Maybe the band found out something they didn?t like about the cities they were supposed to visit? Or maybe The Killers don?t think that videotaping any of their Asian appearances is worth a DVD so why go there anyway. ?Unforeseen circumstances? can mean so many things.

The Killers go cinema

Ξ October 30th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ The Killers |

It seems that Brandon Flowers has found an interesting way to promote The Killers? performances. The show they did at the Royal Albert Hall will be playing in theatres this November. Since when do concerts get to be played as movies? Is The Killers? fan base that spread out that they couldn?t make the show so they have to play it in theatres? Aren?t the usual DVD?s and whatnot working any more for the fans? Have people become bored of their home cinemas? But hey, maybe if it?s in 3-D? then we?re talking! Then it would probably be worth spending money to see a recording of The Killers playing.

Alex James has confused kids

Ξ July 6th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Blur |

The bassist from Blur has apparently managed to dazzle his children with his occupation, so much so that they believe he is actually a conductor. Alex James said the following about his children?s confusion: “Yes, they think I’m a conductor, or they did until recently. They wanted to be conductors until recently, now I think they want to sing. Bad choice.” Right, shows how much Alex James trusts his kids. I?m sure he?ll be going all lawyers and doctors on them from now on? it?s not like his own profession has been to kind to him or brought him the least meagre amount of success.

Razorlight considered pulling the plug

Ξ June 22nd, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Music |

The members of Razorlight recently admitted that when their former drummer Andy Burrows quit the band, they actually considered pulling the plug on the whole thing. Singer Johnny Borrell had the following to say about that time: “It was not at all certain that we were going to carry on. We had kind of rehearsed for it because we had exactly the same situation just after the first album, where Christian Smith-Pancorvo left, then Andy came in. David fitted in right away. He’s a really great guy and an excellent drummer so it feels new and exciting.” Sometimes it seems that they talk about having a band like being married. Even if they had disbanded, they would?ve probably reformed with a new name, so what?s the difference. It?s not like they would give up their careers just for the sake of a drummer.

Blur will be featured in a new movie

Ξ June 4th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Blur, Music, Music Bands |

The famous British group will be the subject of a documentary that will tell the story of their rise to fame, the peak of their glory and their steady downfall? and maybe the stuff that led to their present-day reunion. A source said the following about the upcoming project: “Everyone in the Blur camp is really excited. There’s plenty of material to fit in – their first five years of struggle, their Britpop heyday with all the drinking and their gradual and bitter demise.” Sounds dreamy, the whole story of Blur in one neat little package? what?s a bit strange is that the band would be so eager to let the world see how they managed to screw everything up because of drinking.

Adam Levine meets the mother

Ξ May 19th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Maroon 5 |

The front man from Maroon 5 who was recently spotted with Cameron Diaz has also had the privilege of meeting the actress? mother. A source told the story of Adam Levine?s latest encounter: “Cameron arrived with her mom first and then Adam joined them at the table. It was total deja vu, except Cameron and Adam were even more comfortable with each other on Sunday, despite having the pressure of Adam meeting Cameron’s mom. Her mom made things easy though – she laughed and joked around with them and it was clear that everyone had a blast. Cameron and Adam were super cute with each other and there was definitely a strong attraction.” She must like the music? or she must like Adam Levine. Either way, things seem to have went down too good to be true? surely there is more to this than meets the eye.

Jeff Ament?s bad money-swapping experience

Ξ May 15th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Pearl Jam |

The bassist from Pearl Jam, Jeff Ament, had a bit of a bad experience in changing the ownership of currency. He and a certain Mark Anthony Smith were attacked and robbed outside a studio in Atlanta where Pearl Jam is supposedly recording a new album. Apparently there were three assailants that stole 7000 dollars? worth in money and equipment. The two were attacked when arriving in a jeep at the studio? Jeff Ament apparently tried to run, but was intercepted with great hostility. What kind of a bassist is he anyway? He should?ve been hardcore, he should?ve used his instrument as a hand to hand weapon? after all, a bass guitar does pack quite a wallop.
