Singer-songwriter Joe Brooks has released a music video for his debut single “Superman.” The video features the musician performing in a New York style loft and is definitely worth checking out. “Superman” will appear on Brook’s debut album, Constellation Me, available August 17th on Universal Republic Records.
Fans all over the world have responded and connected with Brooks’ first single, “Superman,” which has almost 10 million MySpace plays to date. And as his online fan base continues to grow (now closing in on 20 million MySpace plays overall), there is apparently a real world connection: his first two UK tours, 16 date’s total, sold out, without the help of a label or publisher.
Written over three years and recorded in Los Angeles and England, in everywhere from state of the art recording studios to a garage apartment, Brooks’ upcoming release is the culmination of his musical efforts. Covering elements of rock, pop, and blues, Brooks’ recorded music reflects his own personal tastes from John Mayer to Ray Charles. But above all else Brooks is a born-performer and must be witnessed live to really understand his vision and art.

The music industry better brace itself as it is going to be plagued by new music from Heidi Montag. The reality TV star turned wannabe singer broke the news on her Twitter last week telling her so-called fans “heading into the music studio recording my new single! Steve Morales my music producer moves into my house tomorrow to make my summer album!” I guess that moving in is code for kidnapping and forcing him to produce her music. Kidnapping makes sense considering that I doubt anyone would voluntarily produce her music after what happened with her first album. Why can’t Heidi just crawl into a hole and die?

Kings of Leon is putting the finishing touches on their fifth album. Drummer Nathan Followill spoke to Billboard about how the band and producers Jacquire King and Angelo Petraglia “did a majority of (the album) in New York City and decided to come home to do the last couple of weeks just to fool around and do it at home [in Nashville]. Honestly, with the success of the last record…a lot of people thought we would put a lot of pressure on ourselves and go in there and try to recreate what we thought was successful on the last record… And I’ll be damned if we didn’t go in there and make a fun record. It’s got songs that are beachy. It’s got songs that are a little more of our (2003 debut album) Youth and Young Manhood days — pretty much all across the board. We’re super excited. Everything, we feel, fits perfectly for this project. It’ll be interesting to see how well-received it is.” Are you ready for new music from Kings of Leon?
Eminem released Recovery?s first single entitled ?Not Afraid? leaked right now. Produced by Boi-1da
Eminem Not Afraid lyrics
[ Hook ]
I?m not afraid to take a stand
Everybody come take my hand
We?ll walk this road together, through the storm
Whatever weather, cold or warm
Just let you know that, you?re not alone
Hola if you feel that you?ve been down the same road
[ Intro ]
Yeah, It?s been a ride?
I guess i had to go to that place to get to this one
Now some of you might still be in that place
If you?re trying to get out, just follow me
I?ll get you there
[ Verse 1 ]
You can try and read my lyrics off of this paper before I lay ?em
But you won?t take this thing out these words before I say ?em
Cause ain?t no way I?m let you stop me from causing mayhem
When I say ?em or do something I do it, I don?t give a damn
What you think, I?m doing this for me, so fuck the world
Feed it beans, it?s gassed up, if a thing?s stopping me
I?mma be what I set out to be, without a doubt undoubtedly
And all those who look down on me I?m tearing down your balcony
No if ands or buts don?t try to ask him why or how can he
From Infinite down to the last Relapse album he?s still shit and
Whether he?s on salary, paid hourly
Until he bows out or he shit?s his bowels out of him
Whichever comes first, for better or worse
He?s married to the game, like a fuck you for christmas
His gift is a curse, forget the earth he?s got the urge
To pull his dick from the dirt and fuck the whole universe
[ Hook ]
[ Verse 2 ]
Ok quit playin? with the scissors and shit, and cut the crap
I shouldn?t have to rhyme these words in the rhythm for you to know it?s a rap
You said you was king, you lied through your teeth
For that fuck your feelings, instead of getting crowned you?re getting capped
And to the fans, I?ll never let you down again, I?m back
I promise to never go back on that promise, in fact
Let?s be honest, that last Relapse CD was ?ehhhh?
Perhaps I ran them accents into the ground
Relax, I ain?t going back to that now
All I?m tryna say is get back, click-clack BLAOW
Cause I ain?t playin? around
There?s a game called circle and I don?t know how
I?m way too up to back down
But I think I?m still tryna figure this crap out
Thought I had it mapped out but I guess I didn?t
This fucking black cloud?s still follow?s me around
But it?s time to exercise these demons
These motherfuckers are doing jumping jacks now!
[ Hook ]
[ Bridge ]
And I just can?t keep living this way
So starting today, I?m breaking out of this cage
I?m standing up, Imma face my demons
I?m manning up, Imma hold my ground
I?ve had enough, now I?m so fed up
Time to put my life back together right now
[ Verse 3 ]
It was my decision to get clean, I did it for me
Admittedly i probably did it subliminally for you
So I could come back a brand new me, you helped see me through
And don?t even realise what you did, believe me you
I been through the ringer, but they can do little to the middle finger
I think I got a tear in my eye, I feel like the king of
My world, haters can make like bees with no stingers, and drop dead
No more beef flingers, no more drama from now on, I promise
To focus soley on handling my responsibility?s as a father
So I solemnly swear to always treat this roof like my daughters and raise it
You couldn?t lift a single shingle lonely
Cause the way I feel, I?m strong enough to go to the club
Put a ??? and lift the whole liquor counter up
Cause I?m raising the bar, I shoot for the moon
But I?m too busy gazing at stars, I feel amazing and
Although R&B singer Usher?s latest album ?Raymond v. Raymond? took the top spot on the US album charts this week by selling nearly 330,000 copies, Justin Bieber has achieved the near impossible as his sales for his ?My World 2.0? album have actually gone up from last week when it came in at number 1. The young pop singer?s sales were at almost 219,000 this week for the number 2 spot. I wonder how his mentor Usher feels about that. He?s got to be proud of the fact that Justin is doing so well but his ego must be swelling because he can still beat the young ones.
While others can?t stand being famous and successful, Green Day sure have no problem with it. In fact, they seem to love it so much that they?re actually getting ready for a new album even though their last was released less than a year ago. This is what Billie-Joe Armstrong said about it: “We did some demos in Berlin, some in Stockholm, some just outside of Glasgow and some in Amsterdam,” said Armstrong. “We wanted to get down in some early form.” So, Green Day are using Europe to probe the field for their next album? they?ve become quite the little marketing geniuses, haven?t they? Maybe it will stick this time around too.
After being convicted for gun possession and even though he is still serving time in Georgia, T.I. has decided to make a public appearance with his fianc?e Tameka Cottle at her Alzheimer?s research fundraiser. A good way for T.I. to score some extra good behavior points, no doubt. Also, his manager seems to be very excited about T.I.?s upcoming projects which include a new album and a movie: “He’s sounding beautiful. His spirit is really good. He’s got the eye of the tiger. There’s no theme as of yet. The sound is definitely not a bunch of samples.” Interesting how busy T.I. has been since being convicted. He probably has too much free time on his hands and thought it best to at least use it for another record.
Heidi Montag has invested a lot into her album ?Superficial?. Not only did the attention whore produce it independently but the wannabe singer also spent $2 million on in and believes that it holds up to Michael Jackson?s ?Thriller?. She wishes! She said ?I?ve spent as much time?maybe more, even?than Thriller. Every detail was very important to me, because I take this very seriously. Most artists, it?s not their own money, but I?ve actually gone broke putting every dollar I?ve ever made and my heart and soul into this music. For me, I have a different appreciation, a different understanding, and a different love of my music and for my album than any other artist possibly could. Because this is my money. This is my gamble. This is my chance.?
Madonna is reportedly back in the studio hard at work for the follow up to 2008?s ?Hard Candy?. For the yet to be titled album, the Queen of Pop is bringing in a long list of collaborators including French DJ David Guetta, Fernando Garibay and Kanye West?s DJ A-Trak. The latter of the DJ?s talked about the collaboration saying ?It’s my production, turned into song structure – halfway between rap and electronic and whatever else I listen to.? And with Pearl Jam?s producer Brendan O?Brien on board with the singer as well, it leads me to believe that there?s going to be some rock infused music as well.
This is probably just some marketing scheme to get more people to pre-order stuff, but it will be interesting to see if it works. It seems that Lil? Wayne?s new album which was scheduled to be released in February when he was going to go to happy camp has been delayed for late June. Why, you might ask. Lil? Wayne remains silent? he probably thought it would be a good idea to keep pumping up the release date, maybe he?ll manage to do his time and be back for a few release concerts, that is, if anyone is ever going to show up seeing the stunts he?s pulling. But hey, Lil? Wayne has loads of time to make new friends and fans at the happy camp.
OneRepublic recently performed an exclusive show at The Palms in Las Vegas for Walmart Soundcheck. The band rocked songs from their new album Waking Up, including their current single, “All The Right Moves.” The Colorado quintet also sat down for an intimate interview where they weigh in on critics, Coldplay and the story behind their sophomore release. Check out a preview of the footage and come back to Soundcheck on December 15th to see the full performance.
On November 2 at 11 p.m. ET, Fuse, the national music network, will televise the worldwide premiere of Nirvana Live at Reading, the band’s legendary, never-before-released 1992 Reading concert. The show, marking the first time that Nirvana fans will experience the epochal August 30, 1992 headlining appearance at UK’s Reading Festival, will debut as an hour long broadcast the night before the limited edition 90 minute CD+DVD Deluxe Edition is by Geffen/UMe.
Featuring 25 songs including “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” “All Apologies” and “Come As You Are,” Nirvana’s performance at Reading ranked No. 1 in Kerrang Magazine’s “100 Gigs That Shook The World” chart and was voted as “Nirvana’s No. 1 Greatest Moment” by fans in a recent NME poll.
“Fuse is excited to provide Nirvana fans with the first opportunity to witness this historic music event since the concert 17 years ago,” said David Weier, vice president, programming, Fuse. “Not only are we airing a highly anticipated, never-before-seen concert in more than 65 million homes, we are providing Nirvana’s loyal fan base with companion programming for a comprehensive and unique viewing experience.”
Leading up to the premiere of Nirvana Live at Reading, Fuse will air “Loaded: Nirvana,” a half-hour of Nirvana’s greatest music videos at 10 p.m. ET, followed by “Videos That Rocked the World: Smells Like Teen Spirit,” a celebration of the legendary music video which was a breakthrough for music, entertainment, culture and society.
While the show’s centerpiece was a performance of nearly the entire Nevermind tracklist, also noteworthy were early performances of three as yet unrecorded songs which wouldn’t be released until 2 years later on In Utero: “All Apologies,” “Dumb,” and in its first ever public performance, “Tourettes.” The career-spanning setlist also reached back to the band’s 1989 Sub Pop debut album, Bleach, for “Blew,” “About A Girl,” “School,” “Negative Creep” and first single “Love Buzz,” and even further back to the mid-’80s for “Spank Thru.” Other songs from the Reading set would appear in studio form on the Incesticide compilation later in the year: “Aneurysm,” “Been A Son” and “Sliver.” Additionally, the band played a pair of beloved covers by two bands that helped shape the formative Nirvana sound– “The Money Will Roll Right In” by Fang and “D-7″ by The Wipers.
Tune in to The Ellen DeGeneres Show on October 20th to catch a performance from OneRepublic. The band will play their current single “All The Right Moves” which appears on their forthcoming album Waking Up due out on November 17th.
OneRepublic recently premiered the Wayne Isham (Britney Spears, Michael Jackson, Metallica) directed video for the track which can be seen here.
If there was ever a question of what would come of Wolfmother after the departure of two founding members then now is the time to stop asking and start listening. Wolfmother has just unveiled their entire forthcoming album, Cosmic Egg, on MySpace and with each track a nail in the coffin of the past is hammered further in resulting in a full blown rock explosion into the present. When describing the new Wolfmother Kerrang! said the band, “have exceeded expectation, proving themselves modern masters of riff-centered, bass-heavy bong rock alchemy. Almost every track contains something fresh and off kilter while remaining immediate and throat-grabbing at the same time.”
Cosmic Egg arrives October 27th, and features the single “New Moon Rising.” For more information on Wolfmother, and where you can catch them on tour, visit www.Wolfmother.com and listen to Cosmic Egg now at MySpace.com
Today, and for the next 3 weeks, AOL’s Noisecreep.com will be releasing an exclusive and/or unheard audio clip from the amazing FMQB Metallica/Alice in Chains interview, “Inside Alice In Chains: Black Gives Way To Blue.” This week’s clip features Metallica talking to Alice in Chains about their collaboration with Elton John on the song “Black Gives Way To Blue.” “It’s a really intense song, and a really open-hearted song to Layne and the experience that we went through,” Cantrell says to Hetfield and Ulrich about the title track. “Facing up to all of that stuff, and owning all the good, and owning all the bad, and moving forward together. It was a lot of big steps…things were pretty black for us. It’s pretty literal to that, and things are starting to get a little lighter.” Keep checking back in the coming weeks for parts 2 and 3 of this classic interview.
Tricky Stewart, the mastermind behind Rihanna?s ?Umbrella? and Beyonce?s ?Single Ladies?, is working with Christina Aguilera on her upcoming album. He said ?It’s just great. I wouldn’t say that it’s alternative, I wouldn’t say that it’s different. Christina’s always been an artist that moves the bar and that’s what the great ones do. They don’t stay in the same place for too long and this album is just another move for her. I really feel it’s one of her best bodies of work that I’ve heard since ?Stripped?.? Unfortunately, we won?t be hearing her album until next year as the pop singer is concentrating on her movie career at the moment, working on ?Burlesque? with Cher.
Head over to Tokio Hotel’s Myspace for an exclusive listen of their album Humanoid. The first single, “Automatic” is a metallic anthem with layered, buzzing guitars, stomping percussion, and a falsetto chorus made to be belted out by a stadium full of people while “World Behind My Wall” redefines the power ballad with depth, introspection, musical confidence and an irresistible sing-along chorus. The band tracked songs in Hamburg, Miami, and L.A. “Bill drove us all crazy, constantly coming in with things, even though the old songs weren?t finished yet,” says Tom, who’s fond of frequently ribbing his brother. “Apart from that, we just didn?t limit ourselves, and we used new instruments.”
The album does not hit stores until tomorrow, but the band is streaming all 12 tracks from the standard version until midnight. Like what you hear? Preorder the sci-fi themed release on iTunes now.
Introducing Orianthi, the guitar phenomenon who is featured prominently in the upcoming Michael Jackson concert documentary, This Is It. Already a renowned musician, Orianthi has been playing guitar since the age of eleven and was discovered by legend Carlos Santana. After playing with artists like Carrie Underwood, ZZ Top, and Prince, she received a MySpace message from Michael Jackson’s musical director asking her to audition for his comeback tour. Following a test run with the King of Pop himself, she was selected as his lead guitarist for his O2 arena dates in London – a crowning acheivement for the 24 year old from Adelaide, Australia.
Now Orianthi is preparing to release her solo debut album, Believe, on October 27th. In addition to her talent at guitar, Orianthi has a gorgeous voice and even sang at Michael Jackson’s Staples Center memorial service. Even before starting rehearsals for his tour though, she was hard at work writing and recording the album with her band. Believe is full of anthemic rock tracks with a sound reminiscent of Paramore or Evanescence, but entirely Orianthi thanks to her signature shreds and thunderous hooks. Her first single, “According to You” is a catchy tale of an ungrateful boyfriend, featuring a killer guitar solo.
To hear the story in her own words, watch Orianthi in this segment from Australia’s Today show. Visit Orianthi.com for updates on this rising star, and be sure to check her out in This Is It out on October 28th.
Orianthi Panagaris Interview On Today Show:
To celebrate the release of their eighth studio album, Crash Love, AFI took to the stage at the world famous Roxy on Sunset thanks to local Los Angeles radio station KROQ. In front of an intimate crowd of hundred’s, rather than thousands that typically fill AFI shows, the band played a thrashing 14 song set filled with classics of the past, and a handful of Crash Love gems that are soon to be just that. Highlights of the night were too many to capsulize, but front man Davey Havok’s front flip into the waiting crowd on “Kill Caustic” and the stunning rendition of The Cure’s classic “Just Like Heaven” marked just a few of the moments that lit up the night. Reminiscent of 1995, AFI welcomed Nick 13 (Tiger Army) and Geoff Kresge (ex AFI/Tiger Army) to the stage to sing “Nyquil,” a track from the band’s first album, Answer That and Stay Fashionable. Electric performances of AFI’s radio singles “Miss Murder” and Crash Love’s “Medicate” put a cap on a night that will not soon be forgotten by the fan’s lucky enough to be present that night.
Fans of AFI who could not be at the show now have the chance to watch a handful of videos from the epic evening on KROQ.com. To find out when and where you can see AFI live, visit www.AFireInside.net/events. Crash Love is in-stores now and available everywhere good music is sold.

Watch Tokio Hotel In The Studio Recording Humanoid
Sneak a peek into the life of Tokio Hotel recording their new album Humanoid. Bill shows off his vocal recording room and discusses his extremely loud recording technique. “Most people use regular ‘headphone volume,’ but I can’t stand it. I need to feel like I’m onstage and I’m standing beside the other guys,” says the front man. The high-tech vocal mixer used on the tracks is what brought the band to Los Angeles to record. The clip also shows guitarist Tom Kaulitz playing the piano – a skill that most fans didn’t know he had.
