Kanye West has finally gotten a release date for his fifth and as yet untitled album. The rapper’s new record will hit stores on November 22nd. It comes at a pretty good time too as it will be dropping right before everyone starts their holiday shopping. However, Kanye has to compete with the likes of Ne-Yo, Flo Rida, Nicki Minaj and Akon who also have albums coming out the very same week. That’s a lot of competition to deal with but I have a feeling that Kanye will do just fine. I’m placing my bet on him to earn the top spot on the charts.

The new album signed by Enrique Iglesias, Euphoria, is the most diverse one till now. It is a collection of songs written in the past four years. This new material is showing Enrique discovering new directions, and being adventurous. Regarding the new album Enrique declared: “We can’t wait to finish this album. It does not resemble to anything I’ve done till now. It includes many musical genres and it was extraordinary for me to experiment and explore new territories.” . On this album Enrique collaborates with artists like Akon, Usher and Nicole Scherzinger.
Akon has revealed that Lady Gaga is travelling with a mini recording studio during the princess of pop?s ?Monster?s Ball? tour and she?s already come up with some new music for her album. The hip hop singer said ?She records while she’s on the road. I’m flying out to Europe to work on some new records with her. GaGa’s just like me. She has a tour bus with a studio in it. Some of the songs I’ve heard are going to be crazy. She’s getting bigger and better. All I’m doing at the end of the day is listening to the tracks GaGa has written and approving them for her album. She has producers that she works with outside of myself and they are coming up with some incredible records. But the beauty of it is she knows exactly what she wants. So it just makes it easier for me.?
The line up for the annual Wango Tango festival concert event has been announced. Ke$ha, Adam Lambert, Usher, Justin Bieber, Ludacris, Akon, Iyaz and BoB will be taking the stage at Staples Center in Los Angeles. That?s one heck of a line up and should prove to be a great treat for anyone who?s going to watch. KIIS FM?s Ryan Seacrest will host the show, along with the rest of the KIIS FM Air staff. Tickets for the show go on sale to KIIS Club VIP Members this Friday at 10AM. Will you be watching the concert? I definitely want to go.
Four people were badly injured at the Maharaja Organization in Sri Lanka when protesters hurled rocks at the building of the sponsor for Akon?s upcoming concert. Religious locals have taken offense to the R&B singer?s video ?Sexy Chick? which features groups of half naked women dancing at a pool party in front of a Buddha statue. Almost 200 protesters showed up outside the office holding posters and then taking a violent turn by smashing windows and destroying parked cars. The four injured network employees received immediate medical attention while police took several protesters into custody. However, it is unclear if they will face any charges.
Akon, who signed Lady Gaga to his KonLive imprint (along with her being signed by Streamline and Cherry Tree) at Interscope Records, is very thankful that he decided to do so. The singer said ?She’s pretty much retired me. She was definitely a blessing. She came at the right moment. I’m glad I believed in her, boy. That goes to show you, if you believe in something strong enough, it will pay off. I was like ‘Yo, I want to sign that right there. She needs to be under my umbrella. Jimmy was like ‘Yeah, whatever you want. Take her. Let’s get it done.’ And she just blossomed into a super megastar, man.? The smartest decision that Akon?s ever made was to sign the princess of pop ? no questions asked.

The same guys who sued Common for copyright infringement have also set their sights on Bone Thugs n Harmony and Akon, accusing the hip hop artists of ripping them off of the exact same song that they were suing rapper Common for. In a lawsuit that was filed just a day after Common?s, Songster, LLC, which owns the rights to the song ?When Will the Day Come?, claims that Bone Thugs, Akon and producer Swizz Beatz ripped off their music for the collaboration ?I Tried?. Songster is seeking unspecified damages. There?s no word on who they will sue next. What is this, a collect and select type of thing?

The rapper has recently been contacted by FIFA to be in charge of the music at the opening ceremony at the South African Tournament next month. Akon had this to say abut his new position: “I’ve been hired as musical director for the World Cup. I will be overseeing the World Cup anthem and music at the ceremonies and I’m off to South Africa this week for meetings. I love soccer so it’s a great honor.” He also added the following about involving football players in the music while referring to David Beckham: “I know David, he’s my man. But I’m not asking for his advice. Footballers should stick to football.” Interesting boundaries Akon sets? but I ask myself how a rapper is going to arrange world cup music? but hey, why be skeptical. Why not just wait and see how Akon manages to? handle the situation.

Aubrey O?Day may be saying good things about Danity Kane but we all know she thinks that she?s way better than them and that she doesn?t need them. It looks like Aubrey is already in talks for a solo career. It?s being said that she?s already in talks with Steve Rifkind at SRC/Universal for a deal. Rifkind even allegedly asked Aubrey to go into the studio to work with Akon. It looks like she might be getting her break after all. I doubt anyone is going to care if she does get an album out though. She should just stick to doing Playboy.
