Taylor Swift gets Halloween fright

Ξ November 2nd, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Kanye West, Taylor Swift, Video, YouTube |

The singer fell for a prank orchestrated by Ellen Degeneres this Halloween. It seems that the comedian determined Taylor Swift to go to a fake dressing room where she was ready to pounce on the unsuspecting singer. The thing resulted in a funny little video that can be found on the internet showing Taylor Swift falling upon the bathroom floor where the scare took place. You’d think something like this would damage her popularity, but Taylor Swift probably got a few bonus points. Too bad they didn’t get Kanye West to do it… he might’ve bought himself a few extra points too.

U2 for Free

Ξ October 30th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Concert, U2, World Tour, YouTube |

If you missed watching U2’s live concert on YouTube, there’s another chance for you to see them for free in Berlin. Bono and the rest of the band will be belting out their music at no cost on November 5th to celebrate the 20 years since the falling of the Berlin Wall, which ended separation between east and west Germany. I thought that they were looking to get some profits off of their concerts. Why the heck to they keep doing free gigs? Oh well, it’s not like they need the money anyway. I’m sure a lot of their fans are enjoying all the freebies.

U2 Concert to Stream Live on YouTube

Ξ October 23rd, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Concert, Live, U2, Video, YouTube |

California, US: U2 have confirmed via video blog that their sold-out concert at the Pasadena Rose Bowl in California, Sunday 25th October 2009 will be streamed free, in full and live on YouTube. It’s the first time a show of this size will be streamed live.

The Rose Bowl show is the penultimate U2 show this year – with more to come in 2010 – and already is set to host the venue’s biggest ever audience of over 96, 000 fans. The 360˚ Tour, which has been critically acclaimed and “re-invents rock’n’roll”*, will now boast unique access for fans worldwide – as fans in territories yet to be visited by the tour, or not at all, will be able to enjoy the whole show online. Managed in partnership with Live Nation, this sell-out tour has broken attendance records in most venues it has visited – its success due in part to increased capacity coupled with a lower ticket price and great sight lines afforded by the stunning in-the-round stage set. Visit U2.com or youtube.com/u2official for details of how to join in this ground-breaking on-line event.

U2 manager Paul McGuinness said – “The band has wanted to do something like this for a long time. As we’re filming the LA show, it’s the perfect opportunity to extend the party beyond the stadium. Fans often travel long distances to come to see U2 – this time U2 can go to them, globally.”

YouTube will be streaming live across five continents. The show will be available in the usual You Tube way, as video-on-demand, following two full replays – after the live stream – on both U2.com and You Tube.

“YouTube is thrilled to be able to provide our global audience with a live streaming performance from one of the world’s greatest bands” – Chris Maxcy, Director of YouTube Partner Development. “We are always looking for new ways to connect fans around the world with their favourite artists, and this is the perfect opportunity to do just that.”

Nirvana Live at reading
Nirvana headlining at Reading in 1992 was something you had to see, and if you didn’t see it then it was something you pretended you saw.”
Kerrang (October 2003)
“The staggering energy and intensity radiating from the stage never let up… Cobain’s ravaged pop songs coming off like some dream marriage of the Sex Pistols and the Beatles, borne on bracing waves of distorted guitar noise.”
Rolling Stone (October 29, 1992)
Ranked #1 in Kerrang Magazine’s “100 Gigs That Shook The World” and voted as “Nirvana’s #1 Greatest Moment” by fans in an NME poll, Nirvana’s historic August 30, 1992 headlining appearance at the UK’s Reading Festival is one of the most bootlegged concerts in the annals of rock n roll. Now, fans will have an opportunity to own a pristine copy of that entire performance — color-corrected video from the original film with audio sourced from the original multi-track masters. Nirvana Live At Reading will be issued in a limited edition CD+DVD Deluxe Edition as well as DVD-only, CD-only configurations on November 3, 2009, followed by a 2LP version on November 17, 2009.
While the show’s centerpiece was a performance of nearly the entire Nevermind tracklist, also noteworthy were early performances of three as yet unrecorded songs which wouldn’t be released until 2 years later on In Utero: “All Apologies,” “Dumb,” and in its first ever public performance, “Tourettes.” The career-spanning setlist also reached back to the band’s 1989 Sub Pop debut album, Bleach, for “Blew,” “About A Girl,” “School,” “Negative Creep” and first single “Love Buzz,” and even further back to the mid-‘80s for “Spank Thru.” Other songs from the Reading set would appear in studio form on the Incesticide compilation later in the year: “Aneurysm,” “Been A Son” and “Sliver.” Additionally, the band played a pair of beloved covers by two bands that helped shape the formative Nirvana sound – “The Money Will Roll Right In” by Fang and “D-7″ by The Wipers.

American TV hosts could not contain their excitement about X Factor’s Danyl Johnson as they played his stunning audition on their show.

Johnson got his own segment on NBC’s Today Show, in which he was compared to overnight British singing sensation Susan Boyle.

Johnson wowed judge Simon Cowell and has since become an internet sensation after his audition was posted on YouTube.

The Today Show is now reportedly trying to land Johnson for a performance on its hugely popular morning show.

“He does seem to have great range, but he also has this incredible presence,” said co-host Matt Lauer.

“If you want to go online and watch his whole audition, it is just extraordinary, his presence onstage and how he captivated the audience and judges.”

Johnson was hailed by Cowell as the best first audition he had ever seen when he performed a rendition of a Beatles track, With A Little Help From My Friends.

Now Johnson is being tipped as a favourite to win the talent show.

Michael Jackson’s doc Conrad Murray posts bizarre video on YouTube

Ξ August 18th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Michael Jackson, Video, YouTube |

SPL120281_001
Michael Jackson’s doctor has posted a bizarre video on YouTube – speaking for the first time to tell family and friends he is ‘fine’.

Dr Conrad Murray is currently under investigation over The King of Pop’s sudden death on 25 June.

Dressed in a suit and tie, Murray protests his innocence in the one-minute video, insisting: “I have done all I could do. I told the truth and I have faith that the truth will prevail.”

He reveals on the video that because of the ongoing police investigation that he is afraid to call friends or family – or even use his email – and has posted the video on YouTube because he is unable to contact them personally.

Dr Murray says in the video: “I want to thank all of my patients and friends who have sent such kind emails, letters and messages…

“Because of all that is going on, I am afraid to return phone calls or use my email, therefore I recorded this video to let all of you know that I have been receiving your messages.

“I haven’t to been able to thank you personally, which you know is not normal for me.”

So far, less than 250 people have viewed the video on YouTube.

The medic’s offices in Houston and Las Vegas have both been raided as authorities seek to find what, if any drugs, including Propofol, were illegally prescribed to the pop icon and if that is what led to his untimely death.

Susan Boyle Bails on Talent Tour

Ξ June 8th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Britain’s Got Talent, Susan Boyle, YouTube |

Susan Boyle may not be able to complete the national Britain’s Got Talent arena tour as she seems to have cracked under the pressure of intense media coverage. After thousands of tickets were sold and 7 additional tour dates, promoters fear that ticketholders may want their money back now that the YouTube sensation may not perform. A source says “We are working on a day-by-day basis here. This is about someone’s health and future.” Some have criticized the talent show for not taking better care of Susan and perhaps some others, saying “There’s a need to look after people properly around the intense process.”
