Singer-songwriter Joe Brooks has released a music video for his debut single “Superman.” The video features the musician performing in a New York style loft and is definitely worth checking out. “Superman” will appear on Brook’s debut album, Constellation Me, available August 17th on Universal Republic Records.
Fans all over the world have responded and connected with Brooks’ first single, “Superman,” which has almost 10 million MySpace plays to date. And as his online fan base continues to grow (now closing in on 20 million MySpace plays overall), there is apparently a real world connection: his first two UK tours, 16 date’s total, sold out, without the help of a label or publisher.

Greyson Chance is the latest YouTube sensation to get himself a record deal. And the kid is just 12 years old! The big-voiced sixth grader, who has attracted nearly 14 million viewers on YouTube with his rendition of Lady Gaga’s ‘Paparazzi’, has reportedly signed a deal with Interscope Records but no confirmation from the label has been made. Some sources are saying that “Interscope [chairman] Jimmy Iovine closed the deal before any other label could even step in and meet the kid.” Congratulations to Greyson if it is true. Did you know that the kid has been taking piano lessons for 3 years but has never taken vocal lessons? Amazing!

Susan Boyle wants to work with the princess of pop Lady Gaga. The YouTube sensation of a singer said I think Lady Gaga is a wonderful artist and completely original and I like her costumes. Love it! Yes, I’d love to do a duet with her, complete with telephone hat too! Susan also hopes to sing for the Pope. Something tells me that her chances with the latter are better especially with the genre of music involved with the former. However, we all know that Lady Gaga loves her so we cant completely rule that out. Im pretty sure it will be weird if it does happen.
Kiely Williams, formerly of 3LW and the Cheetah Girls, released a rather offensive song and video this week called Spectacular. Its some desperate attempt to get some recognition in the music industry that ended up being a total failure because while people did get talking about her, they dont have nice things to say. The singer posted a lengthy note in the description for the music video on her official YouTube page saying I am playing a character in the music video for the song Spectacular, as I did in the Cheetah Girl movies. Young women across the country get intoxicated and have unprotected sex. That’s a fact. I recorded the song to bring attention to this frighteningly prevalent activity. It is absurd to infer or suggest that I am condoning this behavior. She goes as far as comparing herself to Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Rihanna, Madonna and Monique. She wishes.

Susan Boyles neighbors are afraid of the worst as the singer has been acting strangely towards them. The Britains Got Talent contestant has allegedly been speaking in a strange accent, complaining that her cat doesnt love her anymore and that she has been blasting tracks from her debut album I Dreamed a Dream nearly 24/7. A neighbor also said that shes seen two ambulances and a doctor come to the YouTube sensations house with Susan saying that she had been feeling pains in her stomach. The Muppets recently launched a viral parody of Queens classic Bohemian Rhapsody. The launch of the viral video, which features over 40 of everyones favorite Muppets, coincides with the release of the legendary rock bands new album on Hollywood Records. It seems that the comedian determined Taylor Swift to go to a fake dressing room where she was ready to pounce on the unsuspecting singer. The thing resulted in a funny little video that can be found on the internet showing Taylor Swift falling upon the bathroom floor where the scare took place. Youd think something like this would damage her popularity, but Taylor Swift probably got a few bonus points. If you missed watching U2s live concert on YouTube, theres another chance for you to see them for free in Berlin. Bono and the rest of the band will be belting out their music at no cost on November 5th to celebrate the 20 years since the falling of the Berlin Wall, which ended separation between east and west Germany. California, US: U2 have confirmed via video blog that their sold-out concert at the Pasadena Rose Bowl in California, Sunday 25th October 2009 will be streamed free, in full and live on YouTube. It’s the first time a show of this size will be streamed live.
The Rose Bowl show is the penultimate U2 show this year – with more to come in 2010 – and already is set to host the venues biggest ever audience of over 96, 000 fans. The 360? Tour, which has been critically acclaimed and re-invents rocknroll*, will now boast unique access for fans worldwide – as fans in territories yet to be visited by the tour, or not at all, will be able to enjoy the whole show online. Now, fans will have an opportunity to own a pristine copy of that entire performance — color-corrected video from the original film with audio sourced from the original multi-track masters. Nirvana Live At Reading will be issued in a limited edition CD+DVD Deluxe Edition as well as DVD-only, CD-only configurations on November 3, 2009, followed by a 2LP version on November 17, 2009.
While the show’s centerpiece was a performance of nearly the entire Nevermind tracklist, also noteworthy were early performances of three as yet unrecorded songs which wouldn’t be released until 2 years later on In Utero: “All Apologies,” “Dumb,” and in its first ever public performance, “Tourettes.” The career-spanning setlist also reached back to the band’s 1989 Sub Pop debut album, Bleach, for “Blew,” “About A Girl,” “School,” “Negative Creep” and first single “Love Buzz,” and even further back to the mid-80s for “Spank Thru.” Other songs from the Reading set would appear in studio form on the Incesticide compilation later in the year: “Aneurysm,” “Been A Son” and “Sliver.” Additionally, the band played a pair of beloved covers by two bands that helped shape the formative Nirvana sound “The Money Will Roll Right In” by Fang and “D-7″ by The Wipers.

Alice in Chains have just unveiled a “Making Of” video for the trippy “Check My Brain” video. Go behind the scenes with Jerry Cantrell and co. as they try and visually recreate the “Seasick” feeling of the “Check My Brain” riff with director Alex Courtes (U2 and White Stripes). The band has also released a live video of “Check My Brain” from their performance on the Jimmy Kimmel show on September 29th. The performance celebrated the release of the bands first new album in 14 years, Black Gives Way To Blue. The album is available everywhere now.

Hailed by Spin as “one of the catchiest songs of Alice In Chains’ history,” lead single “Check My Brain” has blanketed rock and alternative radio and rocketed straight to No. 1 on Billboard’s Rock Songs Chart and No. 1 on the R&R Rock Chart.
The riff-driven track appears on the band’s highly anticipated new album, Black Gives Way To Blue (Virgin/EMI), available September 29th. Playboy gave the disc four stars, calling it “Alice In Chains’ Back In Black,” Revolver praised the record for its “dense tapestry of heavy guitars and soaring melodies” and Reuters wrote “the heavy guitars, submerged vocals and thunderous rhythm section assures fans that the band has lost none of its menace.”
The “Check My Brain” video premiered yesterday on MTV2’s “Unleashed,” airing every hour on the hour. It also debuted on MTVu, as well as on MTVMusic.com, MTV2.com and MTVu.com. The clip was directed by Alex Courtes, whose credits include U2’s “Vertigo,” Wolfmother’s “Woman” and the White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army.”
The band (guitarist/vocalist Jerry Cantrell, guitarist/vocalist William DuVall, drummer Sean Kinney, bassist Mike Inez) has been previewing songs from the album during their current sold-out buzz tour, which wraps September 30th at the Avalon in Los Angeles. Alice In Chains will celebrate the release of Black Gives Way To Blue with a special two-night performance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on September 29th and 30th.
