It seems to have been quite some time since Coldplay released a new single, but lo! and behold the day has finally come and the band has released their new song called “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall”. Coldplay’s new song is a pretty fast-paced and optimistic sounding thing. It has a steady pace and Chris Martin’s vocals, even though not extraordinary, seem to blend very well into the whole thing. The song itself sounds like some sort of a combination of pop and a little psychedelic rock. This new song of Coldplay’s is probably going to bring them back into the charts for a bit… or maybe even longer than that if the gods are smiling.

Sean Kingston and a female passenger were injured in a jet ski accident near Miami this past weekend, leaving the two with substantial injuries that needed to be treated in the trauma unit, with Sean sustaining the worse injuries. Thankfully, the hip hop singer’s condition has now been stabilized. His publicist Joseph Carozza said in a statement “Sean Kingston is now stabilized and has moved from the trauma unit to ICU. Sean’s family thanks everyone for their prayers and support during this time.” I wish Sean a speedy recovery and that he gets out of the ICU soon enough. He’ll be in my thoughts till then.
Lady Gaga’s album may not be dropping for a couple of days still but that’s not stopping full versions of standout tracks from the princess of pop’s highly-anticipated “Born This Way” from coming out. Take the RedOne-produced “Scheiße”. The track was first heard during the Thierry Mugler fashion show. I think it’s pure fire. Lady Gaga’s vocals and the fierce German lyrics make one hot record. The song has been described as “a tune most likely to bring back memories of early-Nineties dance crossover hits by C&C Music Factory, Snap and RuPaul.” I think dance clubs, especially European ones, will go crazy if this comes out as a single.

Ke$ha recently revealed some details on her upcoming album with MTV News. The pop singer said “The next album… I’ve been working on writing on the road, but as far as a sound, I just know it’s gonna be balls-out, irreverent rock and roll. I’ve been pretty much in this ’70s rock and roll kick and I just want to capture some of the true essence of what rock and roll is, and that’s just irreverence and sexiness and fun and not giving a f—.” In other news, there’s a new song snippet that hit the internet called “31 Seconds Alone”. It’s not confirmed whether the electro-pop tune is an unreleased track from the “Animal/Cannibal” era or something new from Ke$ha.

The singer seems to have quite the soft spot for England… or rather a somewhat twisted spot for England. It seems that Lady GaGa will be doing a little tour in the UK this week and has asked that her tour staff all speak in the Cockney accent, the same accent traditionally found in the East End are of London. And of course there is also the usual request for traditional British cuisine such as fish and chips and of course gin and Pimm’s. It would appear that Lady GaGa doesn’t want to leave anything to chance while in the UK and wants to experience all of the finer things that the English have to offer. Hopefully she won’t be requiring too big a crew for her tour.

The singer who has recently revealed that she was working on a musical based on her own music and life is apparently going to actually be releasing it as soon as next year. This is what Kylie Minogue’s long time collaborator and stylist, William Baker, had to say on the matter: “We’re both working on the Kylie musical, using all her songs, which will hopefully be done next year some time. I can’t wait!” So Kylie Minogue is going to be doing a musical of her own, eh? Perhaps she’ll manage to do a little better than Cher and Christina Aguilera. After all, she does have a whole year to make it as good as possible.
It’s finally upon us! Check out the full version of the new Swedish House Mafia single called “Save the World Tonight”. Whether it’s high quality or a recording of a live performance, there’s no denying that the track is massive. I think it’s another certified hit for the producing trio. The new single also features vocals from up and coming Swedish singer John Martin. I think he did an amazing job. I love the atmosphere of the song. It kind of makes you feel free and that you’re the only person that matters. And of course, any Swedish House Mafia production is beyond amazing.

It seems that the pop singer didn’t quite get off to a good start with Katy Perry’s husband, Russell Brand. This is what Rihanna related about the first time she ever met the British comedian: “I first met him when he was interviewing me on TV. I was sick and it was the worst interview I’ve ever done. I was throwing up in a bucket and a doctor gave me a shot in my butt. Nothing was funny to me. I thought it was the most stupid fucking interview I ever did in my fucking life. Why am I talking to this idiot? He made me want to throw up again.” Supposedly afterwards Rihanna realized that she might have been a bit harsh to judge Russell Brand, especially given the unpleasant circumstances. Rihanna admitted that after a second interview her impression of the British comedian did improve significantly. Still, why would she even agree to an interview if she was that sick? Questions, questions…
This one might actually be true since it’s her mother that believes Willow Smith was born a rebel… and who could know more about this than the girl’s mother? Jada Pinkett Smith had this to say about all of the gifts that she passed down to Willow Smith: “I was the girl hanging out with drug dealers, drinking, messing around. Whatever you think I did, I did worse. My daughter is a born rebel like me – Willow is so me it’s not true. But being a rebel isn’t a problem, as long as you have someone to guide you, and we are with our kids all the time. Russell Brand admits that married life can be ‘tricky.’ The British comic married pop star Katy Perry last year and admits he is still adjusting to his new domestic situation. “When I fell in love I changed from a philandering rascal to this gentleman,” Brand said on America’s Today Show. “Katy is gorgeous. Before I met her I was skylarking around and this didn’t used to be a keychain,” added Brand fingering a bondage-style keychain he had given to host Meredith Vieira. “I love it. It is like having a good friend, and when you talk about something on Wednesday, on Thursday it is the same person you are telling not a new person who doesn’t know about Wednesday. “The challenges are that if you are married to someone you have to do what they ask you all the time. Women change the rules every day, you have to apologise a lot. It is tricky but I love it.”
Far East Movement has a new song out called “Make it Bump” which features Japanese pop singer Koda Kumi. The hip hop group has released their major label debut album called “Free Wired” today and what better way to give it an extra commercial push than recording a track with a popular local artist. The song is featured as a bonus track on the Japanese edition of Far East Movement’s album. It’s a sexy club banger with a bounce electro pop beat. Koda Kumi takes over for the chorus where she sings parts in English and Japanese. I like it.

Owl City, aka Adam Young, is back with a new song. Two years after the successful album “Ocean Eyes”, the indie electronic artist will return to the music scene with the release of his latest studio project called “All Things Bright and Beautiful”, which is set to hit stores on May 17, 2011. The album will be led by the single “Alligator Sky” which features LA rapper Shawn Chrystopher. Adam’s lyrics are still pretty out there but that doesn’t even matter when his music is so amazing. I like the song but I also wish that he would have collaborated with BoB instead.

American electro pop singer Dev, aka the girl from Far East Movement’s “Like a G6”, has chosen The Cataracs-produced “In the Dark” as the official second single from her upcoming debut album “The Night the Sun Came Up”, which is scheduled for release late this Summer. The song sounds good and I think is so much better than her first single “Bass Down Low”, which only managed to peak at #61 on Billboard’s Hot 100. I like Dev’s vocals on the song even if it is auto tuned. The instrumentals are also pretty cool. If promoted right, this song can be a summer smash hit.

This time, the pop singer’s track “I Wanna Go”, which was produced by Max Martin and Shellback, from her upcoming album “Femme Fatale”, out on March 29, has been released in full. If by the snippet you already thought the song was hot, wait until you hear this one in full. The production is blazing hot and Britney’s sassy vocals are to die for. This one is another hit. At the rate things are going, pretty much every song on her latest album could be potential singles.

After performing for Libya’s Colonel Gaddafi on New Year’s Eve of 2009, Beyonce has apparently decided that the best thing to do with her earnings from that show would be to donate them to Haiti. This is what Beyonce’s publicist said on the matter: “All money paid to Beyonce for her performance at a private party at Nikki Beach St. Barts on New Year’s Eve 2009, including the commissions paid to her booking agency, were donated to the earthquake relief efforts for Haiti over a year ago. Once it became known that the third party promoter was linked to the Qaddafi family, the decision was made to put that payment to a good cause.” This is certainly going to give Beyonce an even better popular image… and it might even serve as a good example for some artists out there.
The piano that Sir Paul McCartney used to perform Yesterday has gone under the hammer for the first time. The former Beatles star used the piano to think up the music to the famous track in 1964, which has become one of the most covered songs of all time. It’s claimed McCartney thought the song was another artist’s and went to see the singer Alma Cogan to play it for her on her family’s 1926 mini piano but she confirmed it was an original song. The piano, which has also been used by the likes of Mick Jagger, Sean Connery, John Lennon and Michael Caine, is now going up for auction at London’s Drury Lane Theatre. Alma’s sister Sandra Caron is auctioning off the piano and it is expected to go for at least £125,000.
American Idol may not have let Chris Medina through but he’s already ahead of everyone else. If you recall, Chris is the guy who touched everyone’s hearts and possibly made us cry with his heartbreaking love story about his fiancé who’s currently suffering from brain damage due to a car accident. As the first example of the new partnership between AI and Universal Music Group, the singer has now been given the opportunity to release his debut single online. “What are Words”, which hit iTunes last week is a beautiful ballad inspired by Chris’ dramatic story. The song was written by Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, specifically for Chris. Wow!

The soul singer has recently released a new music video for the song “Bodies”. This one is a really creepy ride and what’s amazing is that it seems to be done a pretty low budget since it does look like more or less of a collage of images, but it’s done very well and Cee-Lo Green’s song comes as the essential piece in completing the atmosphere. The song is a soul/R&B piece and the lyrics seem to hold a rather disturbing load of negative emotion that fits very well with the general theme of the music video. It also features a spoken part at the beginning and a rather disturbing ending to top it off. This one is definitely worth a view or even more.
The singer recently shared what exactly her stage experience feels like with all of her fans out there. Apparently when Lady GaGa is on stage she feels like she has this very intimate and raw passionate relationship with all of her fans. These were her words on the matter: “Sometimes, being on stage is like having sex with my fans. They’re the only people on the planet who, in an instant, can make me just lose it.” Right… well, most of Lady GaGa’s fans are probably very thrilled to hear that… and they’ll be looking forward to her next concert with much, much anticipation. This probably explains the singer’s choice in outfits. After all, it can become very dull after a while if one is wearing the same thing.

So Lady GaGa has decided to shorten the wait for her brand new single, “Born this way”, which is set to be released on iTunes this coming Sunday. Lady GaGa has recently tweeted the following about the highly anticipated piece: “Can’t wait any longer, single coming Friday.” Well it will be hitting the radio waves on Friday, that is for sure, but from there to getting on the internet there probably won’t be too much of a stretch. Actually, that’s probably what Lady GaGa is counting on. What else could heighten the anticipation for the new album even more?
Justin Bieber’s reps are reportedly in talks with World Wrestling Entertainment to participate in the company’s biggest event of the year, Wrestlemania. I’m not sure just what kind of crossover audience that the WWE and the pop singer might have but according to sources, talks have been ongoing for several months now and a deal for Justin to perform at the event may be reached soon. I wonder if his performance would call for him to fight in the ring. I sure hope so. Maybe someone can kick his butt so I can never hear from him again. That will be a dream come true.
Jennifer Lopez recently gave Ryan Seacrest the go signal to premiere her new single “On the Floor”. As announced, this is the final version of the RedOne-produced track and I’m glad to say that it’s so much better than the leaked demo. There’s more of JLo in the intro and rapper Pitbull’s minute long verse was divided into two parts, one at the beginning and another to close the song. The beat is also neater along with some improvement on the pop singer’s vocals. Overall, this version sounds and feels hotter. Now that the song is on US radio, I wonder how long it will take for her to perform it on American Idol.

Rising star Jessie J has recently premiered the music video for her song “Price Tag”. It’s the singer’s second UK single and first US single to come off of her upcoming debut album “Who You Are”, which is due out on March 28th in the UK and April 12th in the US. The single features Atlanta rapper BoB. I love the lyrics and the vibe of the song and hoping that it would be a hit of Jessie J. As for the video, it’s simple, colorful and manages to grab the song’s essence. In other Jessie J news, she has confirmed a new tour in the UK and Ireland in Spring 2011, where she will play 7 shows beginning in Glasgow on March 31 and ending in Belfast on April 9.

Or at least this is his daughter’s opinion… no, not Liv Tyler, his other daughter, Mia Tyler. Apparently she thinks that Steven Tyler is what American Idol has been missing for a very long time. This is what Mia Tyler had to say about her dad being a judge on the show: “He’s the funniest man I know. He’s saving the show because it was kind of boring before. There’s only so many times you can watch Simon be mean to people.” So it’s clear… the fan base is polarized: there are those who couldn’t stand Simon Cowell and those who watched the show just because he was there. Well, Steven Tyler surely is a refreshing change to how the show was being done so far.

During the Milwaukee auditions of the show, one of the people who went for the gold was a 26 year-old Chicago native, Chris Medina. He sang “Break Even” by The Script and he did a damn good job of it apparently. Without any synths or chorus or instruments backing him, he actually made it sound very good so he got a yes from all three of the judges. However, Chris Medina’s motivation for being on the show has a rather inspiring story behind it which he tells during the audition. It does seem like he is a man of character. That probably did impress the judges along with his singing. Hopefully going to Hollywood and through the whole American Idol process won’t change him too much. Definitely one to keep an eye out for.

Alexis Jordan has recently premiered the music video for her song “Good Girl”. The track is the second official single taken from her self-titled debut album, which is set to hit the UK shelves on February 28th and US shelves some time in March. The Roc Nation singer’s latest song is already getting several spins at UK clubs. It was smart of her camp to continue with the light dance/house sound. As for the video, it’s good but I feel like Jay-Z could have spent a little bit more cash on it. Alexis looked amazing though and the choreography was cute.

The full version of the unreleased 50 Cent track called Sunday Morning has finally arrived. A snippet of the song leaked back in late 2009. Then a DJ promised that he would be releasing the full song in May 2010 but it wasnt until last week that the song leaked in its entirety. The song is good and has a great vibe. The rapper kills it in the verses. The song was actually crafted during the recording sessions to 50 Cents fourth studio album Before I Self Destruct but it failed to make the final cut. Im not entirely sure why though because I think the song is great and definitely better than some of the music that did make its way into the CD.

Singer-actor Justin Timberlake has admitted he secretly always wanted to go to university. Speaking at a press conference after receiving Harvard University’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals Man of the Year, the 29-year-old revealed why he was happy to be hanging round the school. Timberlake said: “Secretly, I always wanted to go to college and I didn’t get the chance to do that.” Justin’s girlfriend Hollywood actress Jessica Biel, 28, and his mother attended the ceremony, but managed to keep a low profile. The Social Network star also admitted that he isn’t sure what his plans for the future involve. He added: “I’m an artist first, so I’ll continue to follow the inspiration. That means movies, TV and writing [songs] for other people. “I mostly don’t know what I’m doing, I go from project to project to project.”
The singer probably regrets marrying Ojani Noa a lot more than she did up to now since its his girlfriend, Claudia Vasquez, who is suing Jennifer Lopez for the not so small amount of ten million dollars. The lawsuit is apparently going to state that Jennifer Lopez misstated facts about her former husband just to get a restraining order against him. That should probably ensure that Jennifer Lopezs former husband and his girlfriend are going to have a very merry Christmas but its not going to be this one. Considering how long it takes for a lawsuit to get resolved or settled especially given how well Jennifer Lopez and Claudia Vasquez supposedly get along with each other.
