Usher is set to hit the stage at the 2010 MTV VMAs and he couldn’t be more excited. The 31-year old R&B singer shared “It is an honor to once again be a part of the MTV Video Music Awards. I can’t wait to perform for my fans all around the world who have helped to make this album a success and my being here possible. You never know what’s gonna happen on an MTV VMA stage…I look forward to making it a night to remember.” I wonder if Usher knows about Ne-Yo getting cut off the performers’ list to make room for him.

Method Man Injured

Tila Tequila was recently a casualty at the Gathering of the Juggalos last weekend when audience members threw pretty much everything, including feces, at the reality TV star. She wasn’t the only victim though as Method Man was also subjected to the attack. According to sources, he and fellow rapper Redman were performing at the festival on Sunday night when someone in the audience threw what appeared to be a full beer can at Method Man’s face, resulting in a pretty nasty wound right by the eye. Redman threw expletives at the crowd before telling Method Man to get the cut looked at, however, he refused to stop the show and continued on performing.

Justin Bieber began shooting his latest video, “U Smile”, and posted on his Facebook account a few photos from the set. In one picture, 16 years-old singer is sitting behind a black piano while singing a song. In other two pictures he appear alongside Alfredo Flores, and the rest of the photos are made while he was filming. The song “U Smile” is part of his the second studio album” My World 2.0 “, released in March this year. Justin said about this song that it is the best which he has recorded so far.

New Van Halen

I have some great news for all you Van Halen fans. The band is currently in the studio recording an album of new music. Even bigger news is that this time around, they have their original lead singer David Lee Roth. The last time that David recorded with the band was on their best-selling 1983 release, ‘1984’. It’s been almost twenty years since Van Halen released a new studio album so you know that they’re going to make this one good. And if that wasn’t enough for you, the band is also gearing up for a reunion tour which should kick off around the same time the album is released in 2011.

Lil Wayne could be released in November

Lil Wayne could leave prison in November, 4 months earlier than he should. The rapper was condemned in March to 12 months in prison, after he pleaded guilty to illegal possession of a weapon. According to MTV News, Lil Wayne will be released for good behavior, on the 4th of November. Life in prison seems to be manageable for Wayne, he even wrote a few songs while being in prison. Recently on the rapper’s blog was posted his day by day program inside the prison walls.

Sir Elton John has said he didn’t fall in love until he was 43 because of his previous wild lifestyle.

The Rocket Man, now 63, married his partner David Furnish in a ceremony five years ago and said he finally grew up when he left the drink and drugs behind.

He said to UK newspaper Daily Mirror: “My greatest achievement in life was getting sober and clean because I was a real mess. That happened in 1990.

“I don’t know how I kept my career going with my drug consumption, but I did because I loved to work. If I hadn’t worked, I’d probably be dead.”

Muse Front Man Dating Kate Hudson

Kate Hudson was recently spotted with Matt Bellamy, the lead singer of the band Muse, in New York last week after reportedly dating for over a month. It’s only been a few months since the actress and A-Rod broke up but sources say that this new relationship is getting serious and that the couple plans to make the relationship public at Britain’s Glastonbury festival later this month. A source said “Matt has been over to America to hang out with Kate. Things are going so well, Kate was planning to fly out to the UK to hang out with Matt at the festival. She wants to watch the band from the side of the stage and meet his pals.” It makes me wonder if Kate had anything to do with Matt’s split with fiancé Gaia Polloni.

‘Diddy’ opens up about childhood dreams

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has opened up about his childhood dreams and how he discovered the tragic truth about his “kingpin” father’s death.

During his Tuesday night appearance on Bravo TV’s Inside The Actor’s Studio, the actor and music mogul also told how his dreams of making his mother proud spurred him on to graduate from university and begin making his millions.

Now aged 40, the Harlem-born rapper, actor and successful fashion designer appeared on the show to celebrate his many successes, watched from the front row by his beaming mother Janis and teenage son Justin.

Named one of Time magazine’s “100 most influential people of 2006″, the father-of-five, who has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, chronicled his path to stardom.

He revealed he was aged just three when his father, Melvin Combs, died.

“I would dream about him throwing me up in the air,” he told host James Lipton.

“That’s the only memory I have of him. My mother is a very protective mother. She didn’t tell me the whole truth, she told me he died in a car accident.

“I went to the library to go through the microfilm and I searched my father and it came up that they had called him a ‘Kingpin’ in Harlem and that he was killed on Central Park West. He had got shot in his head, that’s how I found out about my father.”

Combs told of his schoolboy dreams to become an American football star, which he was forced to give up when he broke his leg at a crucial point in high school.

“It broke my heart, I had to learn at a young age that things happen and sometimes your dreams get deferred, and you don’t have to give up your dreams,” he said.

“That’s when I found music.”

Bret Michaels� is making lots of progress and his sister Michelle says that the Poison lead singer is �definitely doing better and was starting to walk a little bit!� She continues �He�s up and moving but it is not going to surprise me if he is still in the ICU on Friday. I think they�re having a problem really getting the bleed�I think there are some issues�that�s why the back pain. What�s happened is all that blood in his brain is starting to drain and he�s starting to have a lot of back pain. It�s been I can hear it in his voice, I know he�s in a lot of pain�He�s so happy that everybody is pulling for him. The fact that he got medical treatment right away, he went immediately and because there is one of the best neurological centers in America there he was very fortunate and I think he will recover quickly and it wouldn�t surprise me to see him back there sooner than most.� Keep it up Bret!

Weezer Officially Indie

After 16 years with the label, the boys of Weezer have left Geffen Records and plan to start producing their own music all on their own, also known as being indie. What that means, even the band doesn�t know, but bassist Scott Shriner told Billboard Magazine that they are definitely working on new music and are scheming something big for fans. One of the things that they have in store is a collection of B-sides and rare recordings the guys have had over the years. That sounds like a great way to recycle. Who�s interested in some new/old Weezer music?

Public Enemy Wants Fans to Pay for Album

Rap group Public Enemy wants to release an album entirely funded by donations from their fans. It kind of gives a whole new meaning to paying for it that�s for sure. In return for investing in the project, fans will get albums, meet and greets and even a cut of the profits. Public Enemy has set a goal of raising $75,000 through donations. A statement says �We have learned that the fan-funding model is still not fully developed and, as a result, a $250,000 fund-raising effort, while possible, will take too long to accomplish�As a result of our SellaBand experience and all that we have learned, we now believe that a $75,000 fund raising target will fulfill the needs for a new recording project and is much more appropriate for the strength of the existing SellaBand model and the current economic climate.�

American Idol Band Leader Moves to Leno

It has been reported that American Idol musical director Ricky Minor will be replacing Kevin Eubanks on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Ricky has worked as a musical director for the likes of Beyonce, Ray Charles, Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, Whitney Houston and a boat load of others. He was also musical director for the Grammy Awards and the Super Bowl. Kevin will be leaving his spot as band leader at the end of May, right around the same time that this season of AI comes to an end. NBC has also confirmed that Ricky will debut on The Tonight Show on June 7. I wonder if he has comedic abilities too.

Nicki Minaj fires her manager

This is probably part of not taking herself too seriously and just loosening up a bit and going with the entertainment. It seems that Nicki Minaj has recently fired her manager, Debbie Antney, who has been with her for three years a short time after dropping out of the tour with Rihanna and Kesha. This is what Debbie Antney said on the matter: “I received a letter, which was a suspension. The next letter that came in was a cease and desist in doing all business with Nicki Minaj from Nicki’s attorney. I love Nicki. I wish her the most success. It’s not about the music, she’s like one of my children� I wish her no harm, only much success.” Oh well, Nicki Minaj is probably going to manage all by her lonesome� after all, it�s just entertainment, isn�t it?

Synth-rock duo MGMT is featured on the cover of the May 2010 issue of BlackBook magazine. The band talked about moving away from their 2007 hit album �Oracular Spectacular� and giving a new style of music saying �If we tried to re-create our last album and someone didn�t like it, I think it would have been really difficult to look them in the eye and tell them we really believed in the album. But now, if someone tells us that it sucks, we don�t give a shit. But if this doesn�t work, if this isn�t what people want to hear, then I�m not sure what we�ll do next.�
