Usher is set to hit the stage at the 2010 MTV VMAs and he couldn’t be more excited. The 31-year old R&B singer shared “It is an honor to once again be a part of the MTV Video Music Awards. I can’t wait to perform for my fans all around the world who have helped to make this album a success and my being here possible. You never know what’s gonna happen on an MTV VMA stage…I look forward to making it a night to remember.†I wonder if Usher knows about Ne-Yo getting cut off the performers’ list to make room for him.

Sir Elton John has said he didn’t fall in love until he was 43 because of his previous wild lifestyle.
The Rocket Man, now 63, married his partner David Furnish in a ceremony five years ago and said he finally grew up when he left the drink and drugs behind.
He said to UK newspaper Daily Mirror: “My greatest achievement in life was getting sober and clean because I was a real mess. That happened in 1990.
“I don’t know how I kept my career going with my drug consumption, but I did because I loved to work. If I hadn’t worked, I’d probably be dead.”
Chris Brown is literally begging his fans to keep him and his music relevant as the convicted woman beater is using a recorded audio message to spread his desperate plea. The R&B singer’s message is available through SayNow.com, a website in which celebrities can record messages for their fans. In the message, Chris begs his fans to help “bring me back” saying that “a lot of radio stations aren’t playing my records. They are not being that supportive and I wouldn’t expect them to.” He goes on to say that he’s “a better guy now” but says “[My music] won’t be possible if I’m not relevant on the radio.” Guess what Chris? No one cares.
Toni Braxton can’t seem to catch a break when it comes to money. On top of Lloyd’s of London looking for damages, City National Bank also filed a lawsuit against the singer for breach of contract. According to court documents, in 2007 Toni “made, executed and delivered to a CNB Promissory Note for $900,000.” Basically, she promised to pay back the money and obviously hasn’t after falling behind on payments in April of this year. City National Bank is seeking $657,567.74 and interest that amounts to over $44,000. Toni needs to get herself a job and fast if she wants to pay up what she owes because I doubt she has that kind of money stored away somewhere.
One of Michael Jackson’s close friends, Uri Geller, believes that it was the immense pressure caused by the singer’s upcoming comeback tour that finally did the poor fellow in. Uri Geller released the following statement about Michael Jackson’s death: “He was in good shape. I’m not a doctor, but I can only assume he was under immense stresses and pressures, and you can ask any doctor, stress is a killer. The pressure of these concerts, putting under huge pressures, he was a perfectionist. That could have been what did it. But that’s just my opinion.” This is probably not just Uri Geller’s opinion and most likely not that invalid a fact. It will be interesting to see what the promoting companies will be doing in regards to the show now that Michael Jackson has passed into the land of the righteous.
New Video from Rise Against for Hero of War now Premiering on Myspace!
The following is a message from the band:
We’ve just completed our new video for the song “Hero Of War” off of our record, Appeal To Reason. “Hero Of War” is the story of one soldier, not all soldiers, as he battles not just the war around him, but the war that rages within. Inspired by true events, we were given the choice to either document the tribulations of these times as they unfold around us, or ignore them. To ignore these problems, in our opinion, is letting down the brave men and women who risk everything. “Hero Of War” is our attempt to lift the stigma that surrounds everything from the skyrocketing suicide rate of troops, torture, internal sexual abuse, an under-funded VA, and the growing number of military personnel fighting Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as they return home. We hope this song and this video help the simmering dialogue about these problems evolve into a rolling boil.

“The notion that a radical is one who hates his country is naive and usually idiotic. He is, more likely, one who loves his country more than the rest of us, and is thus more disturbed than the rest of us when he sees it debauched. He is not a bad citizen turning to crime; he is a good citizen driven to despair.”- H.L. Mencken
Good Charlotte frontman Joel Madden was not allowed to board his British Airways flight not because he was showing too much skin but because he was showing too many tattoos. A British Airways manager called Joel Madden’s attention and asked him to cover up his tattoos or be disallowed to board his flight. Joel Madden covered up and was allowed to board but this did not stop his girlfriend Nicole Richie from chiding British Airways through Twitter.
The same British Airways manager is in hot water after airline management denied there was any such rule and reprimanded the manager for the refusal. Management said the employee took it upon himself to enforce the non-existing regulation. Joel Madden, who was on a flight from London, said he was embarrassed by the incident as all people were staring at him. Joel Madden said his tattoos are not offensive and as Nicole Richie said, her boyfriend’s tattoos are spiritual. Joel Maddens aid it is not his style to make a scene or complain but he is definitely not using the airline again.
PETA has just named Leona Lewis as their Person of the Year. The talented singer has been a vegetarian since she was just 12 years old. She is also an active anti-animal cruelty campaigner and refuses to wear fur and leather. Leona has taken the spot from Stella McCartney, who was named as the Person of the Year last year. I think the spot is well deserved. Not even money could change her mind as she turned down a $1.5 million from Harrods, the only UK department store to still carry fur, to open its summer sale. The Europe Director for PETA, Robbie LeBlance said “Leona Lewis is admired for her beautiful voice, but it’s her kindness to animals that makes her a superstar in our book.”
Emo fans unite! Fans of the band My Chemical Romance are planning to march across London on May 31st to protest what they consider to be the unfair depiction of the band in the British media. The march will start at Hyde Park?s West Pond and end outside the offices of The Daily Mail who organizers are calling the worst offender in the media. The said newspaper recently called the band a suicide cult band in its reports covering the suicide of a 13-year old British girl named Hannah Bond. Let me guess, she happened to be a fan. That?s not any basis for them to start calling MCR a suicide cult band!
Hip hop producer, rapper and now, actor. will.i.am has been cast to play Kestrel/John Wraith in the new ?X-Men Origins: Wolverine? movie which is set for release next year. According to Wiki, the character he?s playing was part of Team X along with Wolverine, Sabretooth, Maverick, Mastodon, and Silver Fox. Kestrel is a powerful teleporter capable of getting the team out of sticky situations after their job was finished. His alter ego is John Wraith. Like the other members of Team X, he was given an artificial age suppressant so he was likely much older than he looked. His time as a secret agent and a member of the Weapon X program has left John somewhat paranoid. His house is a veritable death trap, as is the yard around it – John trusts no one.
The whole world is catching the hate on Avril Lavigne ? even her home country of Canada! You know that?s bad. Canada?s national newspaper The Globe & Mail has written an article which basically sums up why Avril is such a douche. They wrote on Avril?s ever-changing image ? from being the so-called anti-Britney created by a record company to the now supposed glam rocker. Then there are those allegations of plagiarism, swearing at photographers and fans.
I guess the last straw for them was the ?Avril in Mexico? show on MTV Canada where it chronicles the singer?s trip to the MTV Latin Awards. She?s unbearable on that show so I?m not even going to talk about it.
Ashlee Simpson premiered her new music video ?Outta My Head? on TRL on Tuesday (aired on Thursday) in New York City. She was also there to promote her new album which would come out in March 2008.She says about the album ?[Bittersweet World] definitely influenced by ?80s music. I wanted to do music with beats, I wanted to step outside the box. It?s where I am in my life. There?s parts of the record that are ?80s-influenced, because that?s just kind of where I?m at right now. I?m more laid-back, and I want to dance around, and I kind of laugh at things a lot, so you?ll hear that on the record.?
Ashley Tisdale has had an extremely busy year promoting her album and her hit song ?He Said, She Said? which is currently climbing the charts. What better way to wish your friends a happy holiday than with a message or song clip from Ashley! The new Audio Gifts Facebook application enables users to send a special holiday gift from Ashley: facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=2534336806&b&ref=pd.
Mandy Moore, Marie Digby, John West and Scott Simons are some of the artists that covered Rihanna?s hit single ?Umbrella?. Apart from being one of the biggest singles of the year, it also happens to be the most covered song as well. Heck, even Rihanna herself did an acoustic cover of the song! Since the song has gone back to where it all started, I thought that would be it. Just when you thought that we?d heard the very last cover of the song, someone goes out to prove us wrong.
UK rock group McFly have gone and done their own version of the song. And it?s a great version. They stuck to the slow singing and added a very edgy rock sound to it. I liked it.
Here’s Britney’s new video and single titled “Piece of Me”. The video was shot in late November at the nightclub, it was directed by Wayne Isham.

Interscope and Geffen Records merged into one on Thursday and along with the merger was the layoff of 60 people. Many of those laid off had been there for years. This is another sign that the music industry is dying.
A music industry source is saying that the biggest reasons for the merger and cutbacks were the huge failures of the albums of will.i.am, Nicole Scherzinger and Eve. The last two aren?t even out yet but are projected to be big losses. The insider says ?It cost $18 million to make and market those three albums – all bombs. Jimmy Iovine [the head of Interscope responsible for the layoffs] is the most hated man in music today!?
Scott Weiland, the singer for the Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, was arrested when he crashed his car while driving on an LA highway on November 21. He has recently been charged with driving under the influence of drugs with a prior conviction and with an allegation that he refused a chemical test as required by the law.Los Angeles City Attorney spokesperson Frank Mateljan made a statement regarding Scott?s legal trouble saying that the singer faces ?maximum penalty of one year county jail and a $1000 fine, and a minimum penalty eight days in jail (because of the prior conviction and the refusal to take a drug test). His car could also be impounded for up to 30 days.?
Idol fans, this is your time for sweet revenge. He may not have won the competition, but he won the hearts of album buyers this year. Billboard named Chris Daughtry the most popular album of 2007. They sold about 3.2 million copies.
Just half a million shy of that, in second place, is Akon’s album “Konvicted”, followed by the Hannah Montana soundtrack (2.5 million), Fergie’s “The Dutchess” (2.4 million), and Carrie Underwood’s “Some Hearts” (2.3 million).
Number one song of the year was “Irreplaceable” by Beyonce, with Rihanna coming in just behind with “Umbrella”. Top tour of the year was The Police’s reunion tour, bringing in $212 million at last estimate.
John Mayer was spotted as he was shooting a secret music video just off Mulholland Drive with a Los Angeles backdrop late Sunday afternoon.
John?s latest song ?Say? from the soundtrack off ?The Bucket List? has sold over 39,700 downloads to date. The song is about saying out loud what you feel in your heart. On his official blog, John says that the video is a ?Sunset live performance for the upcoming DVD.?
John also had his solo acoustic First Annual Holiday Charity Revue on Saturday. He was pretty funny when he began the acoustic set saying ?It?s a real honor to be opening for myself. I ran into myself backstage and I was very nice ? and, I mean, I?m huge!?
It seems to be happening all over the place at the moment; celebs cancelling gigs due to illnesses etc?
But it has been revealed that The White Stripes may never tour again. Oh the travesty! The band cancelled their 2007 tour earlier this year after drummer Meg White was diagnosed with acute anxiety.
Jack White has now suggested the band may follow the lead of The Beatles in the ’60s and stop playing live, depending on how it affects Meg.
Oh no! I guess if it happens then we will have to pacify ourselves with TV appearances and DVDs. Not the same though?
The internet is buzzing! While we all eagerly await the release of the new Green Day record, people are buzzing about a band called the Foxboro Hot Tubs. What do the two bands have to do with each other? People are saying pretty much everyting.
The Foxboro Hot Tubs released an EP of six songs and it has people thinking that it?s actually Billie Joe and the rest of the Green Day boys experimenting with a new sound. The tunes in the EP sound like they?re sung by Billie Joe but have a very 60s inspired sound. Somebody needs to verify this.
Pete Wentz and the rest of his band Fall Out Boy attended People magazine?s Grammy nominations party at Avalon Hollywood in Hollywood on Thursday night. And he was not a happy camper.
It appears that Pete is one very sore loser especially since he and the band attended the party and even had to perform at the party yet they had no Grammy nominations to show for it. And Pete had no problem letting the audience know his displeasure. He pitched a fit, threw his mic stand in the air and flung his bass against the speakers. Was that a fit or just part of the show?
Fergie gave a very priceless reaction when it was announced that she got a Grammy nomination on Thursday. The singer was one of the musicians on hand to announce who got the nods. It would have been very embarrassing if she didn?t get any.
But it?s still a very bittersweet reward for Fergie as she was a big favorite to get many Grammy nominations before the nominees were announced. She was nominated for Best Female Pop Vocal. But when your album has 5 hit singles, it doesn?t really matter how many nods you get. Just think about that for a good while.
The Hives have just released a video for ?Fall is Just Something Grown Ups Invented? featuring a personal performance for Cartoon Network. The new high-energy single is now playing as the network?s fall theme song. The Hives? new album, The Black & White Album, is available in stores, and the band is currently on tour in Europe until 2008.

Taylor Swift was thrilled to be asked to help announce Grammy nominees on Thursday. She became ecstatic when she heard her own name called by the Foo Fighters. She is nominated for best new artist.
As soon as she heard that, she ran over to the Foo Fighters (Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins). She grabbed them and repeatedly hugged the two. George Lopez, another announcer, leaned over and hugged her as well. He encouraged her by saying, “You got it in the bag.”
Taylor has seen immense success with her self-titled album. She has already sold more than 1 million copies since its release last year.
