Check out the full version of Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga’s cover of “The Lady is a Tramp”, a classic jazz song that dates from 1937. The music icon and the pop singer have revised the popular song by adding a more contemporary sound, well, at least Lady Gaga did. I love their version. Who knew that her voice was actually suited for this genre? The track can be found on Tony’s upcoming album “Duets II”, which is due out on September 20th. Tony also has collaborations with Mariah Carey, Carrie Underwood, Aretha Franklin, Norah Jones and others on the CD.
Check out this epic collaboration from J Cole and Jay-Z called “Mr. Nice Watch”. The track can be found on the up and coming rapper’s debut album “Cole World: The Sideline Story”. The Roc Nation artist goes hard on the track, oozing great energy and flow. Plus, he gets the help of his label boss who spits a killer rap verse on the heavy-hitting electronic beat that the song has. I think J Cole has a hit on his hands with this song. “Mr. Nice Watch” is on fire on its own but with the added star power of Jay-Z, I think this is definitely going to slay.
David Guetta will not ever drive a car in France. The DJ’s driving permit was canceled because of repeated violations of driving laws.
The artist has been caught numerous times with the speedometer needle well above the limit allowed, so from now on he’ll have one problem less. He will not be able to race on the streets of his homeland. What did David Guetta had to say about the authorities decision? Well, the star explained that it did not bother him too much as there will never drive legally again, because he did not have expensive cars in the garage. Oh well, what else could he could have said?
Recently, David Guetta has released the single “Night Of Your Life”, a feature with Jennifer Hudson. “Night of Your Life” has a rhythm that suits you and successfully combines old school electronic sounds with modern samples.
Over all, it fits perfectly, the voice Jennifer’s voice is gorgeous. “Night of Your Life” will be part of the material “Nothing But The Beat” which is ready to be released on 29th of August in the United States.
Inna has decided to give us another brand new song called “Endless”, which comes off of her upcoming sophomore album “I Am the Club Rocker”. The 24-year old singer from Romania uploaded the track onto her YouTube account for fans to listen to. I wonder how many more songs she plans to put out before the album gets released on September 19th. Anyway, as for the new song, in a word, it’s different. The song isn’t straight electro pop/dance material. It actually shows a more mellow, calm side to Inna with soft vulnerable vocals over a simple thump synth beat and a few stings of Spanish guitar. It’s actually pretty nice.
It looks like things are going good for Joe Jonas. Not only has he set off with a solo music career but he’s also going to get a chance to be a real Hollywood movie star. If anyone knows anything about Hollywood, you can work on a film all you want but if you don’t have financing, you have a problem. That’s apparently been the struggle Joe was facing for a while but good news came recently. The pop singer said “I was in Mexico City last week and my manager called me and said, ‘The movie’s financed!’ I was, like, in tears. [It's about a] young man who is finding himself. The storyline is still bare bones, but I will say he has a specific dream that he wants to accomplish, and it’s the good and the bad he has to go through to get there. It’s going to be an older-feeling kind of movie. It’s a little bit of everything. One of my favorite movies is The Four Feathers, and that has everything. It has funny, romantic, passionate. I want to do something like that.”
Leona Lewis has recently unveiled the official artwork for her upcoming album “Glassheart”. The pop singer’s third studio effort will hit stores in the UK on November 28th. I guess she’s keeping “Glass Heart” written as one word. I’m not sure what to think of that. Anyway, the actual album cover features a pretty photo of Leona. There’s no denying that her face is simply stunning but with all the possibilities with the words, they could have done so much better with the cover. It’s very safe in my opinion. Where’s the creativity and originality? In other news, Leona recently had an interview with UK radio show “IN: DEMAND with Alex and Lucy” earlier this week where she confirmed that she will be performing on the US X Factor.
Christina Milian is making a comeback. Unfortunately, it’s not going to be in music but on TV. ABC Family is developing a new show called “Maid in Miami” with the music producer of “Glee” and the “Rita Rocks” producing duo. With Adam Anders, Stan Zimmerman and James Berg, the show could have some talented potential. It would center in on Christina’s character as she dreams of becoming a singer while she dusts for a living. It all sounds so familiar but I just can’t put my finger on it. I’ll reserve further judgment once I see the pilot. But with the names attached to production, I have high hopes.
Smirnoff Vodka is working with Madonna on a new promotion that could very well choose a new backup dancer for the Queen of Pop’s upcoming tour. The promotion, called the Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project, will try to get 10 million people in 50 countries to swap nightlife stories on their Facebook page. Some winners will be chosen to attend one of 50 parts on November 12 where Madonna herself will be in attendance. The singer will be on the lookout for some pretty awesome dancers who will compete for her attention and later participate in a dance off. The winner could very well be chosen to become a dancer on her next tour. So who has some interesting nightlife stories to share?
Next to take the American Idol stage was James Durbin, dressed in all black with lots of spikes and studs, performing with rock and roll legends Judas Priest on “Breaking the Law”. James was clearly having the time of his life. This whole performance screamed so much of an actual concert for me. There were some serious pyro going on and just an all out amazing performance. James even got a standing ovation from the judges. Why couldn’t he have been part of the top 2? It would have been a more exciting finale night if he was. Do you have something against pure rock stars America?

America was shocked last night when American Idol favorite James Durbin didn’t get a coveted spot in the top 3. Most fans expected Haley Reinhart to be going home, especially with the amount of negative comments that she’s been getting from the judges. I actually thought this season was James’ for the taking. He may not have the best vocals each and every week but he’s the only guy who really went out there to perform and gave the crowd an amazing show. I always felt like he was doing his solo concert every week. Needless to say, I think James will be fine once he hits the real world of music. However, that doesn’t prevent me from saying that he got robbed.

The singer has recently released a new music video for his song “Bounce”. To make things a little more interesting Kelis is actually featured in this music video too. The song is mainly an electropop piece with the occasional pop vocals from Kelis. It’s pretty catchy, especially in comparison to most other songs of the genre without being overly annoying. The music video isn’t really too amazing either. It starts out with Calvin Harris breaking-up with his supposed girlfriend and then continues with a collage of all of the fun he has with a few friends of his afterwards. Despite the lack of amazing here, it’s not too bad a listen and the music video might just find its way on a couple of charts too given a little time.
Bruno Mars performed his latest single “The Lazy Song” on American Idol’s results show this past Thursday. The reggae-sounding Smeezingtons production serves as the third single from the R&B/pop singer’s debut album “Doo-Wops & Hooligans”. As usual, Bruno’s vocals were flawless. I was actually half expecting him to come out with dancers in gorilla masks and perform like in the music video for the song. However, I was sorely disappointed with the AI crew though. It was made obvious that the performance wasn’t live when they decided to put a dog in the shot. One second the dog is up and about, the next it’s sound asleep. From technical difficulties to bad camera shots, someone in the technical department really needs to step up their game.

Sir Elton John has said he didn’t fall in love until he was 43 because of his previous wild lifestyle.
The Rocket Man, now 63, married his partner David Furnish in a ceremony five years ago and said he finally grew up when he left the drink and drugs behind.
He said to UK newspaper Daily Mirror: “My greatest achievement in life was getting sober and clean because I was a real mess. That happened in 1990.
“I don’t know how I kept my career going with my drug consumption, but I did because I loved to work. If I hadn’t worked, I’d probably be dead.”
Chris Brown is literally begging his fans to keep him and his music relevant as the convicted woman beater is using a recorded audio message to spread his desperate plea. The R&B singer?s message is available through SayNow.com, a website in which celebrities can record messages for their fans. In the message, Chris begs his fans to help ?bring me back? saying that ?a lot of radio stations aren’t playing my records. They are not being that supportive and I wouldn’t expect them to.? He goes on to say that he?s ?a better guy now? but says ?[My music] won’t be possible if I’m not relevant on the radio.? Guess what Chris? No one cares.
Toni Braxton can?t seem to catch a break when it comes to money. On top of Lloyd?s of London looking for damages, City National Bank also filed a lawsuit against the singer for breach of contract. According to court documents, in 2007 Toni ?made, executed and delivered to a CNB Promissory Note for $900,000.? Basically, she promised to pay back the money and obviously hasn?t after falling behind on payments in April of this year. City National Bank is seeking $657,567.74 and interest that amounts to over $44,000. Toni needs to get herself a job and fast if she wants to pay up what she owes because I doubt she has that kind of money stored away somewhere.
One of Michael Jackson?s close friends, Uri Geller, believes that it was the immense pressure caused by the singer?s upcoming comeback tour that finally did the poor fellow in. Uri Geller released the following statement about Michael Jackson?s death: “He was in good shape. I’m not a doctor, but I can only assume he was under immense stresses and pressures, and you can ask any doctor, stress is a killer. The pressure of these concerts, putting under huge pressures, he was a perfectionist. That could have been what did it. But that’s just my opinion.” This is probably not just Uri Geller?s opinion and most likely not that invalid a fact. It will be interesting to see what the promoting companies will be doing in regards to the show now that Michael Jackson has passed into the land of the righteous.
New Video from Rise Against for Hero of War now Premiering on Myspace!
The following is a message from the band:
We’ve just completed our new video for the song “Hero Of War” off of our record, Appeal To Reason. “Hero Of War” is the story of one soldier, not all soldiers, as he battles not just the war around him, but the war that rages within. Inspired by true events, we were given the choice to either document the tribulations of these times as they unfold around us, or ignore them. To ignore these problems, in our opinion, is letting down the brave men and women who risk everything. “Hero Of War” is our attempt to lift the stigma that surrounds everything from the skyrocketing suicide rate of troops, torture, internal sexual abuse, an under-funded VA, and the growing number of military personnel fighting Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as they return home. We hope this song and this video help the simmering dialogue about these problems evolve into a rolling boil.
-Rise Against
“The notion that a radical is one who hates his country is naive and usually idiotic. He is, more likely, one who loves his country more than the rest of us, and is thus more disturbed than the rest of us when he sees it debauched. He is not a bad citizen turning to crime; he is a good citizen driven to despair.”- H.L. Mencken
