New Video from Cobra Starship – You Make Me Feel

Ξ June 29th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Music, Music Bands, Video |

Cobra Starship recently premiered the music video for their song “You Make Me Feel” via MTV. The synth pop band’s very catchy, albeit sounding like a Calvin Harris rip off, single is the lead track from their upcoming album “Night Shades”. The track also features upcoming rapper Sabi. In any case, I like the song. The beat is hot and Sabi’s hook is blazing. As for the video, I think it’s just meh. It’s still that basic club and party concept where lead singer Gabe Saporta has fun in a photo booth while Sabi works it out on the pole.

UK boy band The Wanted has recently premiered the music video for their song “Glad You Came”. The track is the second single to come off of their upcoming new studio album, which is out later this year. The very catchy single was produced by Steve Mac, Wayne Hector and Ed Drewett. It’s a great pop record with an infectious beat, dancehall influence and rhyming verses. As for the music video, it sees the members of the group partying it up on the paradise island that is Ibiza. It’s a good visual and fits the song’s summery vibe really well.

LMFAO have a new music video – Champagne Showers

Ξ June 2nd, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Music Bands, Music Video |

The group have recently released a new music video for their song “Champagne Showers”. As one would expect from LMFAO the music video starts out pretty interestingly, with messages written in mirror view. The video supposedly has some sort of story behind it, but it all unfortunately degenerates into a party video. Still, it is not your average party video and that’s certainly going to score it a few points. The song itself is in LMFAO’s reasonable stile of electropop/hip-hop with a bit of a twist of dance in there. All in all, not a bad piece of work, although it could have done a bit better in retrospect.

All Time Low has a new music video – I Feel Like Dancin’

Ξ May 24th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Music, Music Bands, Video |

The band has recently released a new music video for their song “I Feel Like Dancin’”. The song itself isn’t too amazing, a rather catchy pop/rock tune that seems to work pretty well. The music video however is the really interesting part since All Time Low seem to be trying at a satire on how things go in the music industry these days. It’s not a bad idea, but doesn’t seem too well implemented since they’ve put so much of the elements they’re trying to mock in the music video that it somehow looks like they’re going for reverse psychology. Still, the really fun part is how they make fun of a very well known artist of today towards the end. So all in all, it’s a pretty fun music video to watch at least once.

New Video from Swedish House Mafia – Save the World

Swedish House Mafia has recently premiered the music video for their single “Save the World”. The uplifting club-ready tune is their offering for 2011’s summer parties and it features vocals by up and coming Swedish singer John Martin. As for the music video, it was shot in LA and released via VEVO recently. The premise is quite clear, a diner attendant on a late shirt, a gentleman chilling in his car and two ladies walking the streets are the targets of different assailants. And when Swedish House Mafia ask who’s gonna save the world tonight, their answer is dogs. I love the video concept!

Moby is back with the music video for his song “The Day”. The track is the first single to come off of the singer’s upcoming album “Destroyed”, which is due out on May 16th. In the video, the very beautiful actress Heather Graham stars as an angelic nurse. The visual is also loaded with some very spiritual images depicting the battle between good and evil for a dying woman’s soul. That’s pretty deep. I usually don’t understand any of Moby’s videos but this one is definitely an interesting watch. Check out the video and tell me what you think of it.

The track is the official second single from the rock band’s latest album, and the first work as a two-piece group, “Vices & Virtues”. The video was directed by Shane Drake, who also directed several other visuals for Panic at the Disco, including “The Ballad of Mona Lisa” and their 2006 VMA-winning video for “I Write Sins Not Tragedies”. I love this song and I love the video. Anything by Panic at the Disco, I’m a fan of. Add the fact that Shane directed it, even more so.

British electro pop singer Frankmusik recently premiered the official music video for his track “Do it in the AM”. The Far East Movement-assisted track serves as the lead single from Vincent’s upcoming album of the same name, which is set to come out this summer. The song will also be Frankmusik’s first US single of his career. I like this song, just don’t pay too much attention to the lyrics because it’s really bad. As for the video, it served its purpose well enough with fitting visuals, featuring lots of partying and hanging out with the boys of Far East Movement.

Porcelain Black has a new music video – This is what Rock’n’Roll Looks Like

Ξ March 28th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Music Bands, Music Video, Rock, Rock N Roll |

The recently discovered singer has just released her first music video for the song “This is what Rock’n’Roll Looks Like”. It’s a bit hard to believe that Porcelain Black was discovered by Lil’ Wayne… she looks a bit more like something Marilyn Manson would promote… well, apart from the dance elements and moves in the video and the song. Lil’ Wayne of course wasn’t going to let Porcelain Black do all of this by herself so he pitches in on the music video a bit as well. The video itself borders somewhere between interesting and annoying: on the one hand you have this weird girl who’s a cross between Lady GaGa and Marilyn Manson, at least at first glance, and her singing’s a bit off too, but not annoying. On the other hand, you have the same old party video with lots of enticing females and what have you. The song doesn’t sound too bad either: a cross between the dance of decades past and something that kind of sounds like Rock’n’Roll. This one is probably going to have a very polarized following.

British pop band The Wanted has recently premiered the music video for their song “Gold Forever”. The track is their latest single and the official 2011 Comic Relief song – a charity single in the UK. The song is a feel good tune with mid tempo ballad-like verses and a cheerful synth-minded chorus. As for the video, it’s good. It’s nothing ground breaking or utterly original but it goes quite well with the song’s spirit. The guys seemed to have a great time shooting the video so that should be enough reason to check it out. What do you guys think?

Eminem’s Epic Grammy Performance

If you thought Lady Gaga’s performance at the 2011 Grammy Awards was epic, then you obviously missed out on Eminem’s time on the stage. The Grammy-award winning rapper wasn’t alone though. Rihanna, with Adam Levine on piano and backup vocals, opened up the set with “Love the Way You Lie (Part 2)”. After the R&B superstar did her thing, they quickly transitioned into “I Need a Doctor” with Skylar Grey and rap legend Dr. Dre. With the song, video and the performance, could Dr. Dre’s return be upon us? I’m really hoping it is. And if the reaction of the crowd was anything to go by, he’s definitely got a huge welcome waiting for him.

Josh Farro has a New Band

After a bit of a controversy surrounding the departure of Josh Farro and Zac Farro from Paramore, it looks like at least one of them is ready to move on. Josh has actually assembled a new band called Novel American. The guitarist said “Basically, I met these guys in high school — they’re a little older than me, and that’s a big deal when you’re in high school, they were always in the cool crowd — but we connected after high school, and we got together after the whole Paramore thing, and I was like, ‘I don’t know if I want to be in another band, but I called the guys, we got together, we wrote and we jammed, and it was great, so we decided, ‘Let’s do another band.’ And, honestly, I had some ideas that just didn’t fit with Paramore, and I said, ‘Guys, we can try these,’ and they just loved them, and so that’s really how it all started.” Are you curious as to what Josh and his new band have to offer?

It’s been four years since the duo put out any new music but fans of The White Stripes were still hoping for the best. However, the band is no more. Meg White and Jack White have decided to go their separate ways and continue to pursue other musical ventures without the other. On their official website’s main page, they explain “The reason is not due to artistic differences or lack of wanting to continue, nor any health issues as both Meg and Jack are feeling fine and in good health. It’s for a myriad of reasons, but mostly to preserve what is beautiful and special about the band and have it stay that way… The White Stripes belong to you now and you can do with it whatever you want. The beauty of art and music is that it can last forever if people want it to. Thank you for sharing this experience. Your involvement will never be lost on us and we are truly grateful.” All good things come to an end. I wish them the best of luck with their future endeavors.

Electro hip hop duo 3OH!3 have recently premiered the music video for “Touchin’ on My”. The song is the official third single taken from their latest studio LP “Streets of Gold”. The Matt Squire-produced song was released as a digital download back in May 2010, before the album hit stores, in the US. It peaked at number 49 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart back then. The song is now getting the official single treatment and will go for US radio spins in the coming weeks. I expect to see it go up higher in the charts with the support of this music video. The song is fun and I think it’s the strongest track off of their album. As for the video, it’s pure craziness that everyone’s sure to have fun watching.

The rock bands lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong was originally slated to take over the role of St. Jimmy in American Idiot for eight performances but the rock star will now return for the role for 50 performances in 2011. Billie Joe will be on stage on January 1 to January 9, January 18 to January 30 and February 10 to February 27. If his September performance is any indication of how the show is going to be, I think its going to be a great run for the Green Day singer.

The band has released a new music video, this time for their song SING. The video is a bit more epic than any of the other stuff released today as it actually features all the guys from My Chemical Romance in a few very simple action scenes. Unfortunately, thats pretty much all the good to be expected out of this video as the music is very, very repetitive and even annoying and the lyrics arent really any better. My Chemical Romance seem to have gone to a pop/rock sound rather than their old alternative rock and emo days. From what you can see and hear from this video, its not a very good change.

The singer has just released a new video for her hit song Sun of a Gun. What strikes you first about this one is the rather unusual setting which probably wants to be a rip-off of the US governments rip-off of the moon with a lot of lights. Then comes Oh Land dancing and singing to this unusual pop-ish song with a few electro elements. And thats pretty much the whole clip. The moon is revealed to actually be snow or something of the sort when Oh Land interacts with it and the song has a mild crescendo but basically keeps up the same pace as its singer dances. So if youre into pop with a hint of the unconventional, then this video deserves a try.

He said Taylor loves setting things on fire, so this is great. Taylor thinks we’re some rock ‘n’ roll badasses. In the studio, there was this pit where the owner would burn stuff. We’d burn old keyboards, computers, stuff them full of TNT and set them on fire. Taylor loves fire. I shouldn’t say this. One morning, Taylor got into the studio really early – she’d just had her dog neutered and brought in the bits. Which she then burned. We were grossed out. And if that wasnt enough for you, the band is also gearing up for a reunion tour which should kick off around the same time the album is released in 2011.

Jimmy The Rev Sullivan, the 28-year old drummer for Avenged Sevenfold was found unresponsive in his Huntington Beach home at the end of December. It turns out that the rock star passed away from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs and alcohol. The report said that he suffered an acute polydrug intoxication due to combined effects of Oxycodone, Oxymorphone, Diazepam/Nordiazepam and ethanol. The bands manager, Larry Jacobson, talked about Jimmy in a recent interview with Rolling Stone saying To all of us who loved Jimmy, the only thing relevant about December 28 is that is the night we lost, too soon, a son, brother, friend and one of the most talented artists in the world. Every day, his parents and sisters, and his brothers in Avenged Sevenfold smile at the many memories they have of Jimmy and his fans around the world revel in the musical legacy he left them.

It looks like the guys from MGMT are still pretty upset that their music is getting labeled and they have once again tried to speak on the matter. This is what Ben Goldwasser came up with on that note: “I think people have this attitude that something’s either pop or it’s pretentious art, or it’s mainstream or it’s indie, there’s no middle ground, and I think we’re trying to go somewhere in between that. We feel like it should be taken as an album and not a collection of singles. We don’t want to be associated with concept albums and art rock or any of that, it’s bullshit to us.? Well this is all good and fine, but it doesn?t look like MGMT is really in it for the fans. This is what happens when you take the concept of fame corrupting to the other extreme.
