Nicki Minaj was on hand at the 2011 BET Awards which were held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles this past Sunday. The 26-year old rapper picked up the award for Best Female Hip Hop Artist during the show and had a hard time getting what she wanted to say across to the audience. Nicki started her speech by saying “Wow, I can’t believe I won,” which ended up getting some laughs from the crowd. She then said “That’s not what I mean!” But seriously, who else would have taken that trophy away from her considering the oh so stiff competition she had in the category?

KIIS FM’s 2011 Wango Tango edition took place this past Saturday at Los Angeles’ Staples Center. This year’s performers included the likes of Ke$ha, Selena Gomez, Far East Movement, Adam Lambert, Lupe Fiasco and Jennifer Lopez among others. Speaking of JLo, I have to admire her cool and professional manner. Halfway through her performance of “On the Floor” with Pitbull, her mic got turned off. I guess there was some technical problem at the venue. However, the pop star knew how to work past the problem and the audience’s patience. When the power came back on, she strongly demanded to take it from the top. Awesome!

Joe Walsh can sleep a little better at night after a judge granted the Eagles guitarist a restraining order against a neighbor who allegedly threatened to shoot him. The musician claimed that a man in his 70s, Nassar Adhoot, trespassed onto his property in Los Angeles last month and then attacked his assistant. At the same time, the guy allegedly threatened to shoot and kill Joe. This past Monday, the suspect failed to appear in court to defend himself against the allegations so the judge granted Joe the restraining order and also ordered Nassar to fork over $1500 in attorneys fees.
Fantasia Barrino may have a stalker as the American Idol champ, who is currently starring in ?The Color Purple? at the Pantages Theater in Los Angeles, received a hate-filled letter last week from someone who claims to have been a security guard on Fox when the singer was still on AI. The letter included numerous racial slurs and even said ?go back to where you came from and die?. What the heck? Fantasia has wisely beefed up her security in response to the letter and has told the media that she ?will not be defeated by one isolated person?s hatred.?
Michael Jackson?s homicide case is almost complete. Sources say that the investigation itself is finished and is expected to be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney in about a month. Medical professionals have been called upon to pitch their thoughts about the evidence and the treatment that the King of Pop received from Dr. Conrad Murray, which should be complete into two to three weeks. LAPD detectives will then round up their report and organize the necessary facts before taking it to the DA. According to insiders, the late singer?s doctor will not be arrested until he?s officially charged with a crime.
Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda is also an artist, it turns out.
Shinoda will present his works at the Japanese American Museum in Los Angeles from July 11.
The exhibition follows “a central character through various facets of celebrity life, the exhibition explores the motivations behind contemporary society’s fascination with fame, excess and instant gratification: from the unique perspective of an outsider on the inside of rock superstardom”.
Shinoda will be at the opening night of the exhibition of July 11 between 8 and 10pm. Fans who attend can have their program signed.
Mike will follow-up the ‘Glorious Excess (Born) exhibition with ‘Glorious Excess (Dies) in January 2009.
It?s not the Oscar?s but Justin Timberlake is still hosting some type of award show. It has just been confirmed recently that JT will be hosting the annual ESPY Awards show this summer. The ceremony will take place in Los Angeles at the Nokia Theatre on July 20th. The ESPYs celebrate the best and funniest moments in sports throughout the year. Of the job, Justin said ?I’ll do my best to deliver a great show, as I do not want to be roughed up backstage by these athletes who are bigger, faster and stronger than me.? I?m betting Justin was just named the host to get more of a female audience to watch.

Amy Winehouse has been banned from America after failing a drug test.
The singer applied for a visa to attend Sunday?s Grammys bash, but was denied as officials found traces of an un-named illegal drug in her blood following the test at the US Embassy in central London. Pals said Amy, 24, was ?gutted? by the news yesterday, and fear it will affect her battle with drugs.
A spokesman said she accepts the ban. But a pal said she was ?desperate? to perform at the Los Angeles bash – where she is up for six awards – adding: ?It was her main incentive to get clean. It?s a blow.?
Amy is now expected to perform via a live satellite link to the awards ceremony.

Scott Weiland, the singer for the Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, was arrested when he crashed his car while driving on an LA highway on November 21. He has recently been charged with driving under the influence of drugs with a prior conviction and with an allegation that he refused a chemical test as required by the law.Los Angeles City Attorney spokesperson Frank Mateljan made a statement regarding Scott?s legal trouble saying that the singer faces ?maximum penalty of one year county jail and a $1000 fine, and a minimum penalty eight days in jail (because of the prior conviction and the refusal to take a drug test). His car could also be impounded for up to 30 days.?
