John Legend has gone ahead and paid tribute to Adele. The Grammy-winning singer has recently unveiled a stunning a cappella cover of the British star’s smash hit “Rolling in the Deep”. Adele’s latest album “21” has reclaimed the top spot of the Billboard 200. Whether John’s cover is an attempt to gain publicity, there’s no denying that he did amazingly on it. Some may say that it sounds too close to the original but the final result was still hot. It’s soulful, powerful and very good. The backup vocals were right on point too. I wonder what Adele thinks of the cover. I actually hope that they record the song as a duet after hearing John sing it.

Lady Gaga became “Larry Gaga” when she appeared on Larry King Live.
The Telephone singer copied the veteran broadcaster’s haircut, braces and tie as she spent the hour talking to the host.
The 24-year-old – real name Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta – said that, after her own mother and grandmother, the most important woman to her was Princess Diana.
I love Princess Diana so much, she said. She was an enormous influence on me when I was younger because my mother worshipped her so much. When she died, I’ll never forget, my mother was crying. It was this very powerful moment in my childhood watching my mother so connected to someone.
Gaga, who also said that she was in talks to support Michael Jackson on his This Is It tour before he died, admitted that she is suffering from the potentially terminal disease Lupus.
Gaga told King she tested borderline positive’ for the disease and must be vigilant of her health.
Lupus is in my family, and it is genetic, she said. I don’t show any signs, any symptoms of lupus, but I have tested borderline positive for the disease. So as of right now I do not have it but I have to take good care of myself.
A 12-year-old US child prodigy has become a YouTube sensation with his rendition of the Lady Gaga hit Paparazzi.
Greyson Michael Chance was filmed performing the song on the piano at Edmond middle school’s ?Chorus Performance Night’.
And the video has so far clocked up over one and a half million hits after being posted on his own YouTube page last week.
Chance, who bears a slight resemblance to other YouTube favourite Justin Bieber, can be seen in the clip whipping the audience of teen girls into a frenzy with his spot-on vocals and adept key strokes.
As well as posting his version of Paparazzi, Chance has also included videos of him performing two songs he has written – ?Stars’ and ?Broken Hearts’.
Simon Cowell’s charity record for Haiti is on schedule to hit the top spot in the charts for a second week.
The single, which features the voices of stars such as Susan Boyle, Rod Stewart, Cheryl Cole and Mariah Carey, has already sold 43,000 copies this week, just days after hitting number one in the UK.
Proceeds from the record, which is a cover of the REM hit Everybody Hurts, are being split between the Disasters Emergency Committee and the Helping Haiti Appeal.
Cowell, 50, put the record together with help from the UK newspaper The Sun and got a variety of celebrities to help out and lend their vocals.
Alice in Chains are currently being featured on Yahoo Music’s Maximum Performance! Mike, 36, was filmed by colleagues doing the King of Pop’s legendary dance moves in a five-minute routine at his delivery office to the Jacko hit Billie Jean.
The footage was shot in St Albans, Herts, in the UK and has had over 3,500 hits since it was posted on the website YouTube.
DVDs of the hit routine have also been made and hundreds have been sold off to raise money for charity.
Mike, who filmed the smash-hit video before the star’s death, said: “Michael was my idol. The dance was a bit of fun, I’d no idea I’d get such a response.”

Kelly Clarkson was seen signing some autographs for fans after her interview with UK?s Radio One in London this past Sunday. As the 26-year old first ever American Idol champion wrote in her blog, she was in London to do some promo work for her new album ?All I Ever Wanted?. Kelly?s first single off of that album is called ?My Life Would Suck Without You?. Check it out. I think it?s nice. I wonder why she went to the other side of the pond first to do her promo work. When is she going to do promo work in her home country?
The All-American Rejects, hot off their December release of When The World Comes Down, have taken their time in the Yahoo! Music studio to bring a stripped down version of Britney Spears? hit ?Womanizer? to life. Packed with an accordion, clanking beer bottles, and a unison of ?whooooos? the cover is described by frontman Tyson Ritter as ?better than Britney? and can be seen at Yahoo! Music.
In another stripped down performance, The All-American Rejects? performed their hit single, ?Gives You Hell? acoustically. The band has uploaded the bare-bones version that can be heard at myspace.com/allamericanrejects.
The McCain campaign has been using a lot of songs without artists? permissions and they should have anticipated that someone is going to get mad at some point. They recently used the Foo Fighters? ?My Hero? for which the band was none too pleased about. The band said ?This isn?t the first time the McCain campaign has used a song without making any attempt to get approval or permission from the artist. It?s frustrating and infuriating that someone who claims to speak for the American people would repeatedly show such little respect for creativity and intellectual property. The saddest thing about this is that ?My Hero? was written as a celebration of the common man and his extraordinary potential. To have it appropriated without our knowledge and used in a manner that perverts the original sentiment of the lyric just tarnishes the song.? The Foo Fighters, along with Heart, Van Halen, John Mellencamp and Jackson Browne all want to have the campaign stop using their songs.

Chris Cornell went on the record with Billboard.com that he really liked David Cook?s rendition of ?Billie Jean? on American Idol last week ? especially because he did it first. In his interview, the rocker admits that the Idol wannabe ?sang it great? but then adds that ?it was literally a note-for-note take on what I came up with.? And they say Cook is an original. While Chris was given credit for the innovative arrangement on the show, Idol?s imitation also pays Chris off as his cover of ?Billie Jean? has jumped to #12 on iTunes. And by the way, Doxology was finally given credit for their version of ?Eleanor Rigby? which Cook also sang.
Gwen Stefani feels “at home” working with her No Doubt bandmates.
The singer – who is pregnant with her second child – is currently recording another album with the band and is enjoying spending time with them.
The 38-year-old star – who forged a successful solo career while taking a break from the band – wrote on her blog: “It’s great to be home with all my boys. Feels crazy to be pregnant all over again!!!!! We have been spending every day up in the little studio in our house trying to write music. My favorite part so far is just seeing the guys everyday and hanging out. We have so much fun together.”
Gwen – who sang the lead vocals on the band’s biggest hit ‘Don’t Speak’ in 1997 – is confident the new album will be a success even though pregnancy is started to take its toll on her songwriting skills.
She added: “The songwriting part is a bit slow on my part. I think it has something to do with the baby in my belly but I’m sure it is all of the process and I really believe this could be the most inspired No Doubt record so far. Can’t wait to see what happens.?
3 DOORS DOWN CLOCK OUT OF THE BOX RADIO HIT
WITH SMASH SINGLE ?IT?S NOT MY TIME?
First Single From New Self-Titled Album Rock Radio?s #1 Most Added
Fastest Moving Active Rock Record in last Five Years
New Self-Titled Studio Album In-Stores May 27
(New York, NY, March 24, 2008) Universal Republic rock icons 3 Doors Down are putting up massive radio numbers with their first single, ?Its Not My Time,? from their soon-to-be released self-titled album, due in-stores on May 27. Their much anticipated fourth studio album has spawned rock?s biggest radio hit of the year so far, with the debut single becoming the fastest moving song at Active Rock radio in the past five years. The #1 most added song at Alternative radio the past 3 weeks in a row, ?It?s Not My Time? was also the biggest Gainer at the coveted rock radio format, leaping from #20 to #16 as it closes in on the prestigious 50,000 mark in digital sales in less than a month of release.
The new CD has already got internet fans buzzing, with talk of other choice tracks such as the adrenalin-fueled ?Train,? and the rousing ?It?s The Only One You?ve Got?, pointing to more milestones from the Mississippi fivesome, from a new album steeped in rock anthems and power-driven radio hits. The follow-up to their #1 debut album, 2005?s Seventeen Days, lead singer Brad Arnold cites this effort as perhaps the most communal band effort. ?3 Doors Down has always been about every band member giving everything we?ve got,? says the singer/songwriter. ?On this album we really wanted to make every song count. We owe it to our fans who have been there to support us from day one.?
After the flop of her latest album ?My December?, it would almost seem that a lot of Kelly Clarkson haters surfaced. But be prepared to praise her once again. From the reports about her next album, there?s a lot of potential of it to be quite good. The original American Idol is working with the talent performer/songwriter/producer Ryan Tedder, the lead singer of OneRepublic. Ryan co-wrote Leona Lewis? international smash hit ?Bleeding Love? and he says that Kelly?s new songs will feature big choruses and heavy drum programming. In other words, it?s back to pop people! Ryan also revealed that the songs are heavily influenced by 90s electro-rockers Garbage and one song even features a bridge inspired by Mozart. Interesting.
The new CD cover for Madonna and Justin Timberlake?s new single ?4 Minutes (To Save the World)? has been released. The single is their collaboration off of Madonna?s upcoming record ?Hard Candy? which will drop in stores internationally on April 28. What do you think about it? Is it hot or not? If you want to ask me, I say it?s not. It just looks too plain. I would have expected something louder. But I guess, much like the song itself, it?s all just in the hype only for you to get disappointed in the end. Both of them can do better!
Ticket sales for Avril Lavigne?s upcoming tour are sluggish ? and that?s putting it lightly. So, the singer and so-called songwriter held a press conference to try and muck up some interest in her new outing. She talks about the music she wanted to play live saying she ?wanted to play fast, fun songs? and even compared her new album to her previous effort ?Under My Skin?. She also talked about the show being upbeat with the production being bigger in the sense that she will have dancers during a few songs, LED screens, a pink sparkly drum kit and flags. Wow. The pink drum set just made me want to buy a ticket ? NOT!

John Mayer was spotted as he was shooting a secret music video just off Mulholland Drive with a Los Angeles backdrop late Sunday afternoon.
John?s latest song ?Say? from the soundtrack off ?The Bucket List? has sold over 39,700 downloads to date. The song is about saying out loud what you feel in your heart. On his official blog, John says that the video is a ?Sunset live performance for the upcoming DVD.?
John also had his solo acoustic First Annual Holiday Charity Revue on Saturday. He was pretty funny when he began the acoustic set saying ?It?s a real honor to be opening for myself. I ran into myself backstage and I was very nice ? and, I mean, I?m huge!?
Alicia Keys hit the top of the charts this week with her new album ?As I Am?. The gorgeous and talented singer has hit Number one with her album in the Billboard 200 charts, after it sold over 700,000 copies in the US. Blimey girl that?s a lot of albums!
Keys has had 3 previous albums hit number one in the first week of their release; hinting that this little lady is not just a pretty face. She seems to have the ?key? to our hearts, or at least our ears, as fans sweep in to buy her music as fast as it can hit the shelves.
And what a perfect name for the album. We?ll definitely take you as you are Alicia?it seems to be working so far. Keep your ears peeled folks ? if you haven?t heard it yet, get buying it; before it?s sold out!
Get ready all you OneRepublic fans. Their album ?Dreaming Out Loud? will be hitting stores November 20.
Their current single ?Apologize? has been saturating the radio stations all across America. The band can thank Timbaland for the great remix he did with the single. ?It gave me goose bumps the first time I heard it,? the 28-year-old artist says.
Timbaland, who apparently saw Tedder, one of the band members, at an MTV contest, offered him a deal. He then spend the next two years hoping he’d record and release a solo album, but Timbaland kept telling him that he’s a producer and not an artist. ?Apologize? was written in 2003, but wasn’t touched until 2007.
I guess it takes awhile for a great song to hit the radio. And this song truly does give me the goose bumps.
Just when Hurricane Chris had snatched the focus away from Atlanta to his home state of Louisiana with the summer chant “A Bay Bay,” Atlanta teen DeAndre Way (aka Soulja Boy) arrives to consolidate some of the great moves from the likes of Dem Franchize Boyz and Yung Jock into a new dance and its accompaniment. “Crank That,” the result is climbing the chart and, due to the appeal of the dance, is picking up some high profile fans along the way. It’s thoroughly enjoyable while it’s hot and ultimately forgettable a year from now.17-year-old DeAndre Way (aka Soulja Boy) seems to have worked his way through the halls of the recording industry on sheer chutzpah and talent. After taking to the internet and MySpace in particular, Soulja Boy was signed by Mr. Collipark, of Ying Yang Twins fame, and ended up with distribution of his first single by Interscope. It’s no surprise “Crank That” rose to the top when you see Soulja in action on his various videos. The dance accompanying the whisp of a song is fun to watch and do and just complicated enough that learning it is an achievement.
“Crank That” is not only appealing to young fans. It has caught the attention of some top artists as well.
Leona Lewis has a ton of great songs on her upcoming debut album ?Spirit?. She already has a great single in ?Bleeding Love? and ?Angel? is shaping up to be another great one.
The ?X Factor? winner is already on the course to having the fastest selling single of the year in the UK. Her current single ?Bleeding Love? has already sold over 250,000 copies.
I guess everyone agrees that she does have the x factor to succeed in the fickle
business known as the music industry. No one can deny the amount of talent that she has and it shows with the numbers that are coming in for her.
In Rainbows, as a title, implies a sense of comfort and delightfulness. Symbolically, rainbows are more likely to be associated with kittens and warm blankets than the grim and glum circumstances Radiohead are known for sound tracking.
Surprisingly, some of the album?s lyrics are even more personal/universal and straightforward than anything on The Eraser, the album made by Thom Yorke and Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich. ?I?m an animal trapped in your hot car,? from ?All I Need,? has to be one of the saddest, most open-hearted metaphors used to express unrequited love.
This effective weaving of disparate elements ? lyrical expressions commonly associated with the band, mixed in with ones suited for everyday love ballads ? goes for the music as well. The album is very song-oriented, with each track constantly moving forward and developing, yet there are abstract electronic layers and studio-as-instrument elements to prevent it from sounding like a regression.
Troubled pop star Britney Spears’ comeback performance was plagued by drama but helped MTV’s Video Music Awards to reverse a long slide in the ratings. You see that?s the big picture as to why MTV wanted to have an out of shape, hopeless wreck Britney Spears perform at the Video Music Awards. Spears, 25, looked unprepared on Sunday night while performing her new song, “Gimme More,” to a bewildered audience of her music industry peers. But MTV would have cared a damn, they knew that if Britney preformed even in a burqa (Muslim women dress) then too there is currently so much interest in her personal life and her problems that it would generate enough curiosity for the views to switch on the TV sets and see her performance and that would automatically give them the TV ratings to make the show a success. MTV made their day but didn?t care what happened to her and her image.
