Foo Fighters Talk McCain

The McCain campaign has been using a lot of songs without artists’ permissions and they should have anticipated that someone is going to get mad at some point. They recently used the Foo Fighters’ ‘My Hero’ for which the band was none too pleased about. The band said “This isn’t the first time the McCain campaign has used a song without making any attempt to get approval or permission from the artist. It’s frustrating and infuriating that someone who claims to speak for the American people would repeatedly show such little respect for creativity and intellectual property. The saddest thing about this is that ‘My Hero’ was written as a celebration of the common man and his extraordinary potential. To have it appropriated without our knowledge and used in a manner that perverts the original sentiment of the lyric just tarnishes the song.” The Foo Fighters, along with Heart, Van Halen, John Mellencamp and Jackson Browne all want to have the campaign stop using their songs.

Alicia Keys is set to perform at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards. The Grammy award-winning singer is the latest addition to the star-studded line-up, which also includes Beyonc, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, the Foo Fighters and Tina Turner. The Grammy awards are famous for their unusual pairings, and this year is no exception

While Beyonc and Tina Turner are expected to duet, ‘Umbrella’ star Rihanna is set to team up with reunited group The Time to commemorate the ceremony’s 50th anniversary. In addition, Aretha Franklin and Mary J. Blige will appear on stage with The Clark Sisters, Israel and New Breed, and Trin-i-Tee 5:7 for a one-off gospel performance.

The ceremony, which is being held in Los Angeles’ Staples Center on February 10, will also feature a special tribute to British band The Beatles. Casts from Las Vegas’ Beatles tribute show ‘LOVE by Cirque du Soleil’ and film musical ‘Across The Universe’ will join forces in an exclusive tribute to the late John Lennon and George Harrison and the band’s surviving members Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. One act I doubt will be appearing is Amy Winehouse

Rihanna debuted a new hair do at the 2008 NRJ Music Awards which was held at the Palais des Festivals on Saturday in Cannes, France. Its super short especially if youre looking at it from the back. Its super sexy though and she was looking mighty stylish. I cant wait to see what shell look like at the forthcoming Grammy Awards which will take place on February 10. She will be performing at the show along with Beyonce, the Foo Fighters, Carrie Underwood and Mary J. Blige. And you fans better watch out because its being reported that Beyonce and Mary J are being rumoured to be performing a duet.

Baby Inspires - David Grohl

Foo Fighters founder, primary songwriter, and front man David Grohl has credited his new writing style to becoming a father. His little girl Violet was born in 2006 and Grohl said, he felt like “superman in a way because I had to be.”

He adds he “can’t be scared of writing things that I really feel.” It seems to have done the trick too. Foo Fighters current album has five Grammy nominations, including album of the year.

The first single, “The Pretender,” spent a record 17 weeks at number one on Billboard’s Modern Rock chart. The Foo Fighters will play the song at the 50th anniversary Grammy Awards on February 10th.

Taylor Swift's Grammy Hug-Fest

Taylor Swift was thrilled to be asked to help announce Grammy nominees on Thursday. She became ecstatic when she heard her own name called by the Foo Fighters. She is nominated for best new artist.

As soon as she heard that, she ran over to the Foo Fighters (Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins). She grabbed them and repeatedly hugged the two. George Lopez, another announcer, leaned over and hugged her as well. He encouraged her by saying, “You got it in the bag.”

Taylor has seen immense success with her self-titled album. She has already sold more than 1 million copies since its release last year.
