They may have had a lot to celebrate about like a number one single on the US singles chart and a top 10 album on the US albums chart but that’s not stopping people from giving consistently awful reviews on Coldplay’s free concert in Madison Square Garden. The band’s front man apparently forgot lyrics and chords on numerous occasions and the rest of the band was just straight-up no good. Then again, it was a free concert. They just got what they paid for – absolutely nothing. For the sake of Coldplay, let’s hope that the paid concerts on the rest of their tour don’t get reviewed as badly.

Coldplay announced on Friday that they will be making a trek across North America for their new ‘Viva La Vida’ tour. They are set to kick things off at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on June 29th and will wrap things up on November 22nd at the Energy Solutions arena in Salt Lake City, Utah. It also seems that they would be having two legs of the tour as they only have 3 dates in August with more dates coming in by October. Tickets for the first couple of dates go on sale either on May 16th or May 17th.

Coldplay is hard at work in the studio for their new album which will hopefully be released some time this year. Working with them on the soundboard is longtime U2 collaborator Brian Eno and the new material they’re coming out with is said to be something different for the band. Rolling Stone actually has an exclusive preview of the new record as well details about each individual song on the album. From what they’ve written of the new Coldplay sound, it seems that the new direction they’re on is leading them to something quite promising. Good for them! You can’t stick with one thing, it gets boring after a while.
