Beyonce scooped three awards at the MTV Europe Music Awards at the ceremony to mark the tearing down of the Berlin Wall 20 years ago.
The singer was awarded the best female, best song for Halo, and the best video for Single Ladies [Put a Ring on It].
She told the audience: “I have to dedicate this award to all the other beautiful artists. Thank you MTV for this wonderful honour,” upon receiving her best female award.
Jay-Z, Beyonce’s hip-hop musician husband, won the best urban act category. He said: “I look forward to the day when all those walls come down.”
Beyonce stepped up after her husband’s speech and performed Sweet Dreams.
Eminem won best male act. He thanked his supporters in a video message.
Katy Perry hosted the prestigious event, which included a video tribute to the late king of pop, Michael Jackson.
I’ve been waiting to hear what Beyonce has to say about the whole VMA incident revolving around Kanye West and Taylor Swift since it happened. When recently asked about the incident that will go down in MTV history, Beyonce said “Well, I knew his intentions, and I knew he was standing up for art; and he told me before, when they said the nominees, he’s like, ‘You have this award. And when they didn’t call my name he was, like, completely shocked. And when he walked on the stage, I was like, ‘No, no, no!’ and then he spoke, and I was like, ‘Oh, no, no, no!’ But in the end, it ended up being a great night, and Taylor Swift did get her moment — and I didn’t have to make an acceptance speech.”
Tricky Stewart, the mastermind behind Rihanna’s ‘Umbrella’ and Beyonce’s ‘Single Ladies’, is working with Christina Aguilera on her upcoming album. He said “It’s just great. I wouldn’t say that it’s alternative, I wouldn’t say that it’s different. Christina’s always been an artist that moves the bar and that’s what the great ones do. They don’t stay in the same place for too long and this album is just another move for her. I really feel it’s one of her best bodies of work that I’ve heard since ‘Stripped’.” Unfortunately, we won’t be hearing her album until next year as the pop singer is concentrating on her movie career at the moment, working on ‘Burlesque’ with Cher.
Beyonce’s concert in Malaysia will go ahead despite protests from an Islamic political party that her concerts were immoral and unclean.
In 2007, the bootilicious American sensation cancelled concerts in Malaysia for fears of protest. But the concert is set for October 25 at the Bukit Jalil national stadium despite the objections of the Pan-Malaysian Islamic party [PAS].
Beyonce Knowles’s tour organiser announced the concert would go ahead on its website but could not be reached for comment.
The PAS party called for Danish band Michael Learns To Rock to be banned from performing earlier this month on the basis of Muslim fasting during Ramadan. But the group went ahead and performed without incident.
PAS remained opposed to Beyonce, telling a wire service on Sunday: “We oppose the holding of such concerts and we will take action to prevent such a concert from taking place in Malaysia. This performance is not suitable for Muslims as her skimpy attire and behaviour onstage are immoral and lead to unclean behaviour.”
The past year has treated many artists in the music industry very well but there are also others that didn’t have as much luck with their new releases. The biggest albums of the year sales-wise are Taylor Swift’s ‘Fearless’ which sold 3.7 million, Michael Jackson’s ‘#1’s’ which sold 3 million, Beyonce’s ‘I Am… Sasha Fierce’ which sold 2.4 million and the soundtrack for the movie ‘Twilight’ which sold 2.2 million. However, not everyone can do well. The Jonas Brothers fever seems to be dying down because the boys only managed to sell 520,000 copies of their new album. Disney starlet Demi Lovato also bombed selling only 240,000 copies of her album. Jordin Sparks, Green Day and Kelly Clarkson are also on the list of so-called failures.
Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland has praised Beyonce for how she acted at the recent MTV VMAs.
Beyonce, 28, won the video of the year award and gave up her stage time to 19-year-old Taylor Swift.
Kanye West interrupted Swift’s acceptance speech for Best Female Video to say he felt Beyonce deserved to win.
Rowland said: “Beyonce is such a classy, gracious woman. I actually Tweeted that, and everybody was like: ‘It’s so true.’”
She added that she thought Kanye’s interruption was “disturbing”.
She told USmagazine.com: “I think that as a music industry and a fellow artist, it’s important to know that there is room for everybody. Kanye is a genius – no one takes that away from him, but [he should] be moral and be a [good] person.”
Kelly Clarkson is the latest singer to criticise Kanye West’s VMA outburst by calling him a “sad human being” on her blog.
Kelly, 27, was also nominated in the same category as Taylor Swift and Beyonce for the Best Female Video.
At the bash, Kanye jumped on stage while Taylor, 19, was collecting the gong and said that Beyonce, 27, should have won the award.
However, Kelly has since written a letter to Kanye on her blog, saying: “What happened to you as a child? Did you not get hugged enough??
“Something must have happened to make you this way and I think we’re all just curious as to what would make a grown man go on national television and make a talented artist, let alone teenager, feel like s**t.
“I mean, I’ve seen you do some pretty s****y things, but you just keep amazing me with your tactless, a**hole ways. It’s absolutely fascinating how much I don’t like you.”
She went on to say: “I like everyone. I even like my a**hole ex that cheated on me over you… which is pretty odd since I don’t even personally know you.
“The best part of this evening is that you weren’t even up for THIS award and yet you still have a problem with the outcome. Is winning a moon man that much of a life goal?? You can have mine if it will shut you up.”

The singer will be performing at this year’s BET Awards together with her husband Jay-Z and other resounding names such as Kanye West, Ne-Yo, Soulja Boy. Beyonce herself is a favorite for some of the awards including favorite R&B female, video of the year and so on. Still, isn’t anybody thinking of giving Beyonce a “super-duper-uber-pooper diva of the year” award. After all, she most likely deserves it more than anybody else, what with the fifty meter car rides and all. Really, it would be a real dang shame if Beyonce wasn’t honored for all of her talents at such prestigious events.
It seems that ticket sales for Beyonce’s ‘I Am…’ tour aren’t so great. The singer’s camp has announced that there will be 1,000 tickets priced at only $20 a pop for each date on the North American leg of her tour. Fans of Beyonce can purchase the cheap tickets via Ticketmaster beginning today. Be careful with those clicks. We all know how Ticketmaster has been doing some shady business. I wonder if Beyonce is gifting her fans with affordable tickets because she’s feeling generous or because they weren’t selling otherwise. I don’t really care much either way. I’m not a big fan of hers to begin with.
Formula One ace Lewis Hamilton has reportedly been teaching Beyonce how to drive like a professional.
The 24-year-old world champion has been showing Beyonce, 27, and rapper hubby Jay-Z, 39, around the track after they arrived at the Cannes Film Festival.
The couple has been supporting Beyonce’s younger sister Solange Knowles after she performed at the VIP Rooms.
An insider said: “Beyonce’s so excited to be learning from him. And Jay’s even worse. He’s ready to put on his helmet and get in the fast lane himself.”
Beyonce has said she was stunned that people believed a hoax clip of her singing out of tune was really her.
The Crazy in Love star came under fire when the altered audio recording hit the internet.
It was picked up by popular US radio “shock jock” Howard Stern and soon spread online.
She said: “I knew it was a joke. I knew it was supposed to be silly. Something like that I don’t even take seriously. I thought it was hilarious.
“The craziest thing was journalists were asking me about it when they hadn’t even listened to it. If you had heard it, it was obviously a hoax!”
The clip featured Beyonce seemingly screeching along to her hit If I Were A Boy.
Her father, Mathew Knowles, dismissed it as a fake. But some fans believed it was real and began to doubt the chart star’s vocal abilities.
Beyonce, 27, told a US newspaper: “More than anything, it’s amazing that someone can do something so obviously funny, and have the whole world take it the wrong way.”
Art student Matthew Zeghibe later came forward and confessed to the scam – admitting he too was amazed that people took it seriously.
Singer Beyonce is so fed up with the imposters pretending to be her on Twitter she is reportedly planning to take legal action.
It is claimed her sister Solange Knowles, who is a fan of the site and regularly updates her own page, alerted her superstar sister to a number of fake pages posting messages pretending they are from her.
But the star is now planning to take legal action, according to British newspaper The Sun, as she is fed up with the imposters.
One page on the social networking site has 33,994 followers with another offering “You daily dose of Mrs. Carter” as her husband Jay Z’s real name is Shawn Corey Carter.
I was a little shocked when I found out that Beyonce was a cheapskate but I’m even more shocked to find out that she’s a slob. In the newest issue of Ebony magazine, Beyonce reveals that she is a little pig at home which completely irritates her neat freak of a husband Jay-Z. She said “I’m a little messy! Oh, yeah… I think that is the most difficult thing for him. He’s very, very organized.” You would think she would have hired someone to clean up after her. Oh yeah, I forgot about her being frugal. She probably wouldn’t want to spend on someone’s salary.
A lot of celebrities showed up to give their support to President Barack Obama’s inaugural festivities in Washington DC. Beyonce and Bono were the headliners for the group of entertainers who kicked off the celebrations. Garth Brooks, Sheryl Crow, Josh Groban, James Taylor, Bruce Springsteen were just some of the performers who helped keep the parties going. Beyonce also sang the song to which Barack and his wife Michelle danced to. It seemed like everyone was in DC for the events that have gone on over the weekend up to the actual inauguration on Tuesday. Congratulations to the new President!
Beyonce flaunted her dangerous curves at the Sony BMG Music 2008 Grammy Awards After Party at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday night. The Bootylicious singer showed off more skin than her usual flashy armpits with her dress?s plunging back. However, she knew how much to keep hidden when she kept things covered up in all the right places. I may be getting sick of her being all over the place these days but I can?t help but envy the fact that her body was made for evening gowns. If only she was made for not getting us saturated with her face and music then she?d be perfect.
