Nicki Minaj Wins at BET Awards

Ξ June 28th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ BET Awards, Los Angeles, Nicki Minaj |

Nicki Minaj was on hand at the 2011 BET Awards which were held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles this past Sunday. The 26-year old rapper picked up the award for Best Female Hip Hop Artist during the show and had a hard time getting what she wanted to say across to the audience. Nicki started her speech by saying “Wow, I can’t believe I won,” which ended up getting some laughs from the crowd. She then said “That’s not what I mean!” But seriously, who else would have taken that trophy away from her considering the oh so stiff competition she had in the category?

Justin Bieber Set to Appear on BET Awards

Ξ June 22nd, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Awards, BET Awards, Justin Bieber, Lil Wayne |

It has been confirmed that Justin Bieber is scheduled to make an appearance at the BET Awards. How could the most popular act in the music business not make an appearance at the annual hip hop and R&B award show anyway? Note my sarcasm. The 17-year old pop, I reiterate, pop singer joins a list of other artists including Beyonce, Mary J Blige, Kelly Rowland, Trey Songz, Lil Wayne, Drake, Chris Brown, Alicia Keys, Rick Ross, Ace Hood, DJ Khaled and Jill Scott. If Chris Brown is performing, I’m willing to bet that Justin will perform alongside him with their collaboration “Next 2 You”.

Rihanna Kicks Off Tour

Ξ June 6th, 2011 | → 0 Comments | ∇ BET Awards, Concert, Live, Rihanna |

Rihanna kicked off her “Loud” world tour this past Saturday in Baltimore, Maryland. Among her exciting and lengthy set list, the R&B singer performed her brand new and controversial single “Man Down”. After the premiere of the music video for the song, the US Parents Television Council immediately went out to accuse Rihanna that the video was “an apparent enticement to young women to turn to violence”. She has since addressed the issue on BET’s 106 & Park and on Twitter. And to shut it all out, Rihanna did a killer performance of “Man Down” during her concert. Work it!

BET Loves Justin Bieber

Ξ May 21st, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ BET Awards, Justin Bieber |

Justin Bieber has been nominated for a Black Entertainment Television award, earning a nomination in the Best New Artist category alongside Nicki Minaj, B.o.B., Young Money and Melanie Fiona. Stephen Hill, BETs President of Music Programming and Specials, says Bieber has crossed the color boundaries the same way that hip-hop has crossed the boundaries the other way for a number of years. He’s had rhythm in his music. He makes the type of music our audience likes. Im not entirely sure about all those things fitting the young pop singer but to each his own I guess. The fact that hes been mentored by Usher must have helped. Congratulations Justin!

Beyonce at the BET Awards

Ξ June 16th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ BET Awards, Beyonce, Jay-Z |

The singer will be performing at this year?s BET Awards together with her husband Jay-Z and other resounding names such as Kanye West, Ne-Yo, Soulja Boy. Beyonce herself is a favorite for some of the awards including favorite R&B female, video of the year and so on. Still, isn?t anybody thinking of giving Beyonce a ?super-duper-uber-pooper diva of the year? award. After all, she most likely deserves it more than anybody else, what with the fifty meter car rides and all. Really, it would be a real dang shame if Beyonce wasn?t honored for all of her talents at such prestigious events.
