Kanye West is set to take the stage at the BET Awards on June 27. That would mark the rapper’s first awards show performance since interrupting Taylor Swift at the 2009 MTV VMAs. Kanye is nominated for two BET awards including Video of the Year for ‘Run This Town’ with Jay-Z and Rihanna. On Tuesday, he performed at 3 different high schools in the Chicago area as part of the Kanye West Foundation’s annual ‘Stay in School’ event. Kanye also made an appearance at a Manhattan nightclub for a listening party featuring songs from his upcoming album ‘Good Ass Job’. It’s about time he got back in the spotlight!
Justin Bieber has been nominated for a Black Entertainment Television award, earning a nomination in the Best New Artist category alongside Nicki Minaj, B.o.B., Young Money and Melanie Fiona. Stephen Hill, BET’s President of Music Programming and Specials, says “Bieber has crossed the color boundaries the same way that hip-hop has crossed the boundaries the other way for a number of years. He’s had rhythm in his music. He makes the type of music our audience likes.” I’m not entirely sure about all those things fitting the young pop singer but to each his own I guess. The fact that he’s been mentored by Usher must have helped. Congratulations Justin!

The singer will be performing at this years BET Awards together with her husband Jay-Z and other resounding names such as Kanye West, Ne-Yo, Soulja Boy. Beyonce herself is a favorite for some of the awards including favorite R&B female, video of the year and so on. Still, isnt anybody thinking of giving Beyonce a super-duper-uber-pooper diva of the year award. After all, she most likely deserves it more than anybody else, what with the fifty meter car rides and all. Really, it would be a real dang shame if Beyonce wasnt honored for all of her talents at such prestigious events.
