Brett Michaels Injured at Tonys

Ξ June 11th, 2009 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Award, Poison |

During the Tony Awards opening number this past Sunday, Poison front man Brett Michaels was injured after a run-in with the set. The singer performed ‘Nothin But a Good Time’ with the cast of ‘Rock of Ages’ and as he left the stage, a moving set piece hit him on the head and knocked him to the ground. A Tonys spokesperson said that the rocker missed his mark. It’s being said that Brett has suffered a fractured nose in the whole ordeal. Oh no! His face can’t handle much more plastic surgery. He might end up looking like Michael Jackson pretty soon.

Britney Spears Wins EMA

Ξ November 13th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Award, Britney Spears |

Britney Spears may have not officially made her comeback yet but she’s already getting the recognition for it. The recovered princess of pop just won Best Album of the Year Award during the MTV Europe Awards which were held in Liverpool, England last week. She wasn’t in attendance for the awards but she did have a thank you speech ready. Britney also won the award for Best Act. And for those planning to buy her new album ‘Circus’, BMGjapan.com reveals that ‘Amnesia’ is set to be a second bonus track after ‘Radar’. I wonder if that’s for all her releases and not just her Japan release.

Rock N Roll Hall of Fame Nominees

Ξ October 10th, 2008 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Award, Metallica, Rock N Roll, Stooges |

Run DMC, Metallica and the Stooges are among the nine nominees up for induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In order to receive a nod, an act must have released its first single 25 years prior. This is the first year that Run DMC qualifies and if they get accepted, they will be the second rap act ever to be inducted as Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five was the first rap group inducted in 2007. The other nominees include Jeff Beck, singer Wanda Jackson, Little Anthony and the Imperials, War, Bobby Womack and disco R&B group Chic. Noticeably missing from the ballot were Stevie Ray Vaughan and Bon Jovi who both just became eligible. The five most voted nominees will be announced in January with the induction following in April.

Justin Timberlake is a Host

It?s not the Oscar?s but Justin Timberlake is still hosting some type of award show. It has just been confirmed recently that JT will be hosting the annual ESPY Awards show this summer. The ceremony will take place in Los Angeles at the Nokia Theatre on July 20th. The ESPYs celebrate the best and funniest moments in sports throughout the year. Of the job, Justin said ?I’ll do my best to deliver a great show, as I do not want to be roughed up backstage by these athletes who are bigger, faster and stronger than me.? I?m betting Justin was just named the host to get more of a female audience to watch.
But, hey, whatever works!

Beyonce After the Grammy?s

Beyonce flaunted her dangerous curves at the Sony BMG Music 2008 Grammy Awards After Party at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday night. The Bootylicious singer showed off more skin than her usual flashy armpits with her dress?s plunging back. However, she knew how much to keep hidden when she kept things covered up in all the right places. I may be getting sick of her being all over the place these days but I can?t help but envy the fact that her body was made for evening gowns. If only she was made for not getting us saturated with her face and music then she?d be perfect.

Rihanna Backs Up Jay-Z

This was perhaps my favorite moment of the Grammys, although Beyonce and Tina Turner rocked. Rihanna and Jay-Z won for best rap/song collaboration for “Umbrella”.

When the two made it up on stage, Rihanna made it clear that SHE was there to accept the award. As Jay-Z approached her side at the microphone, she held up a hand and kept him at a distance while she made her speech.

Nice way to thank the person who helped you win, huh?

Amy?s Grammy Dream is over

Amy Winehouse has been banned from America after failing a drug test.

The singer applied for a visa to attend Sunday?s Grammys bash, but was denied as officials found traces of an un-named illegal drug in her blood following the test at the US Embassy in central London. Pals said Amy, 24, was ?gutted? by the news yesterday, and fear it will affect her battle with drugs.

A spokesman said she accepts the ban. But a pal said she was ?desperate? to perform at the Los Angeles bash – where she is up for six awards – adding: ?It was her main incentive to get clean. It?s a blow.?

Amy is now expected to perform via a live satellite link to the awards ceremony.

Alicia Keys to perform Grammies

Alicia Keys to perform Grammies

Alicia Keys is set to perform at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards. The Grammy award-winning singer is the latest addition to the star-studded line-up, which also includes Beyonc?, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, the Foo Fighters and Tina Turner. The Grammy awards are famous for their unusual pairings, and this year is no exception

While Beyonc? and Tina Turner are expected to duet, ‘Umbrella’ star Rihanna is set to team up with reunited group The Time to commemorate the ceremony’s 50th anniversary. In addition, Aretha Franklin and Mary J. Blige will appear on stage with The Clark Sisters, Israel and New Breed, and Trin-i-Tee 5:7 for a one-off gospel performance.

The ceremony, which is being held in Los Angeles’ Staples Center on February 10, will also feature a special tribute to British band The Beatles. Casts from Las Vegas’ Beatles tribute show ‘LOVE by Cirque du Soleil’ and film musical ‘Across The Universe’ will join forces in an exclusive tribute to the late John Lennon and George Harrison and the band’s surviving members Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. Presenters at the ceremony include Cyndi Lauper, Bette Midler and Nat King Cole’s daughter Natalie

One act I doubt will be appearing is Amy Winehouse?

Canada Hates Avril Lavigne

Canada Hates Avril Lavigne

The whole world is catching the hate on Avril Lavigne ? even her home country of Canada! You know that?s bad. Canada?s national newspaper The Globe & Mail has written an article which basically sums up why Avril is such a douche. They wrote on Avril?s ever-changing image ? from being the so-called anti-Britney created by a record company to the now supposed glam rocker. Then there are those allegations of plagiarism, swearing at photographers and fans.

I guess the last straw for them was the ?Avril in Mexico? show on MTV Canada where it chronicles the singer?s trip to the MTV Latin Awards. She?s unbearable on that show so I?m not even going to talk about it.

Rihanna?s New Do

Rihanna debuted a new hair do at the 2008 NRJ Music Awards which was held at the Palais des Festivals on Saturday in Cannes, France. It?s super short especially if you?re looking at it from the back. It?s super sexy though and she was looking mighty stylish. I can?t wait to see what she?ll look like at the forthcoming Grammy Awards which will take place on February 10. She will be performing at the show along with Beyonce, the Foo Fighters, Carrie Underwood and Mary J. Blige. And you fans better watch out because it?s being reported that Beyonce and Mary J are being rumoured to be performing a duet.

Mika

The Brit Awards nominations were just announced on Monday and several personal favorites showed up on the list. Leading the nominations are Leona Lewis and Mika who both received a smashing four nods each. Kate Nash followed with her three nominations while Kylie Minogue took the bronze, scoring two nominations. The best single category is going to be an interesting one as Mutya Buena and her former band mates, the Sugababes, are nominated. Talk about getting a rivalry going.

Congratulations to everyone who got a nod! I?m looking forward to a very interesting night of music. Good luck to everyone.

Baby Inspires - David Grohl

Foo Fighter?s founder, primary songwriter, and front man David Grohl has credited his new writing style to becoming a father. His little girl Violet was born in 2006 and Grohl said, he felt like “superman in a way because I had to be.”

He adds he “can’t be scared of writing things that I really feel.” It seems to have done the trick too. Foo Fighter?s current album has five Grammy nominations, including album of the year.

The first single, “The Pretender,” spent a record 17 weeks at number one on Billboard’s Modern Rock chart. The Foo Fighters will play the song at the 50th anniversary Grammy Awards on February 10th.

Reward for Fergie

Fergie gave a very priceless reaction when it was announced that she got a Grammy nomination on Thursday. The singer was one of the musicians on hand to announce who got the nods. It would have been very embarrassing if she didn?t get any.

But it?s still a very bittersweet reward for Fergie as she was a big favorite to get many Grammy nominations before the nominees were announced. She was nominated for Best Female Pop Vocal. But when your album has 5 hit singles, it doesn?t really matter how many nods you get. Just think about that for a good while.

R. Kelly?s Publicist Quits

Regina Daniels has worked as R. Kelly?s publicist for 14 years. She deserves a loyalty award don?t you think? But before we can even go to hand it to her, she?s formally announced her decision to cut all ties with the R&B singer.

In her statement about it, Daniels says ?I have prided myself on loyalty, respect and professionalism. It saddens me that I was not always shown those same courtesies during my 14-year tenure as Mr. Kelly?s publicist … There are some lines that should never be crossed professionally or personally. Mr. Kelly crossed a line that forever altered the scope of our relationship. For this reason I made the decision to resign.?

Ooh! Ooh! I hope there?s a lawsuit involved.

Pete Doherty Is Sorry For Being a Druggie

Kate Moss’ ex junkie fianc? Pete Doherty says he’s sorry for being a crack head. Yesterday there was a video of Pete injecting himself with heroin. The video was reportedly filmed right after he got back from the MTV European Music Awards in Germany. I feel sorry for him. You gotta understand that your body creates receptors for drugs like these, and your body goes through physical withdrawals if you stop feeding those receptors. It’s hard to give up such a hard drug because you have the mental AND the physical effects to get through. And he’s going right back to rehab, so he’s trying. The most important thing for this junk head is that he should not give up on the feel that he is trying and that some day he will find success in leaving his addiction for good. Basically it?s the medical staff that should make him believe that he can do it his is on the right path and he is going to achieve it. If he remains on path he has a chance of quitting drugs

TOKIO HOTEL have cemented their position as one of the biggest acts in Europe by picking up the ‘InterAct’ award at this year’s MTV European Music Awards. The band’s performance of their #1 hit ‘Monsoon’ on the show was watched by a television audience of millions worldwide, and was in the Top Ten of all music videos on Youtube the next day. MTV in the U.S. will be airing the performance during their broadcast of the awards Nov 11 @ 12 Midnight EST/PST, and M2 U.S. will air on Nov 16 @ 9 PM EST/PST, and 17th at 4 AM EST/PST.

The InterAct Award honors the band that has generated the most buzz and fan excitement through the internet. Tokio Hotel went on to win the award, beating out Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Depeche Mode and 30 Seconds To Mars.

The band made up of brothers Bill (vocals) and Tom Kaulitz (guitars) with Georg Listing (bass) and Gustav Schafer (drums). They were only 13 years old when they first laid down a record, and have since become the biggest German artist of the decade – with ‘Schrei’ and ‘Zimmer 483′ spawning four no 1 singles as well as topping album charts themselves.
