Multi-platinum pop singer Katy Perry just nabbed another number one hit with her latest single ‘Waking Up in Vegas’. That song makes it the singer’s third number one Top 40 song from her debut album ‘One of the Boys’. There have only been three other artists in the history of the Billboard charts to have achieved that feat, including Ace of Base, Avril Lavigne and Lady Gaga. Wow. Avril’s in the list? Anyway, back to Katy. Congratulations to her! I’m such a big fan of hers and I couldn’t be more proud that she’s achieved that milestone. I’m sure she’s got plenty more up her sleeves for us to watch out for.
Avril Lavigne’s most recent album and tour were huge failures, and that may even be taking it lightly because her previous efforts have been nothing but more successful. As artists are prone to do, the singer and so-called songwriter is looking to put the blame on anyone but herself. Sources reveal that the Canadian has just fired her longtime manager and management company, Terry McBride of Nettwerk. A source said “Avril is hoping that new management can help her new album be more successful than the last.” Avril is now said to have hired Irving Azoff and his management company to represent her. They have worked with artists such as Christina Aguilera and the Eagles.
Malaysia tried hard but Avril Lavigne still exists. Despite the many attempts to shut down the Canadian singer?s inappropriate concert, the show still went on. As for Avril, she got an even bigger head from the ordeal saying ?Well, I’ve actually been approved by the government to play a show. I’ve already sold 10,000 tickets there, so I will be going to put on a concert for the fans.? She?s not letting go of those 10,000 tickets sold over there because she can?t sell that much for a whole tour over in the US. She adds ?They tend to, you know, sometimes not want Western artists in their country. I respect that, but at the same time, you know, there’s people that listen to music there and want to see their idols and stuff, so it’s all good: been approved by the government and [I'm] going to go put on a show and have fun.? Since when was she an idol?
Star magazine quotes an insider saying that Avril Lavigne is going to get some work done on her teeth. The insider says ?Avril hates her fangs. She is planning on having them filed down by a cosmetic dentist. It’s just something she has always been insecure about, especially since everyone is staring at her mouth when she sings. As soon as Avril finds some time to take off so it won’t interfere with her singing, she’s getting it done!? What are the fangs interfering with when she hardly sings anyway? If you?ve gone to see her live, it?s pretty obvious sometimes that she?s actually just lip synching. No one jumps around on stage that much and still sound like her record.
I guess it runs in the marriage as Sum 41 is suffering the same curse that Avril Lavigne is currently suffering. The has-been pop/punk rockers are having trouble selling tickets for their current tour much like front man Deryck Whibley?s wife, Avril. The band was supposed to play the 7,000 capacity Moncton Coliseum Complex in New Brunswick, Canada last March 7 but the concert venue changed to the 1,200 capacity Club Oxygen. It?s being said that Deryck and his band mates are having trouble selling tickets not just for this one date but for the whole tour. This is just a hunch but maybe the poor tickets sales have something to do with the fact that no one bought their new album.
Ticket sales for Avril Lavigne?s upcoming tour are sluggish ? and that?s putting it lightly. So, the singer and so-called songwriter held a press conference to try and muck up some interest in her new outing. She talks about the music she wanted to play live saying she ?wanted to play fast, fun songs? and even compared her new album to her previous effort ?Under My Skin?. She also talked about the show being upbeat with the production being bigger in the sense that she will have dancers during a few songs, LED screens, a pink sparkly drum kit and flags. Wow. The pink drum set just made me want to buy a ticket ? NOT!
The Canadian version of the Grammy Awards, the Junos, have recently announced their nominations on Tuesday. Some personal favorites which include the likes of Feist, Chromeo, Rufus Wainwright, Michael Buble and Celine Dion, scored some nods. While I agree with those nominees, there are a couple that I don?t agree with too. Actually, there?s just one ? Avril Lavigne.
With all the hate that?s being thrown at her, why can?t the Junos have joined in on it too? Don?t they get it? They are just feeding her ego by doing this. And that huge ego of hers that doesn?t have any merit is what makes her think she can treat people like crap.
The whole world is catching the hate on Avril Lavigne ? even her home country of Canada! You know that?s bad. Canada?s national newspaper The Globe & Mail has written an article which basically sums up why Avril is such a douche. They wrote on Avril?s ever-changing image ? from being the so-called anti-Britney created by a record company to the now supposed glam rocker. Then there are those allegations of plagiarism, swearing at photographers and fans.
I guess the last straw for them was the ?Avril in Mexico? show on MTV Canada where it chronicles the singer?s trip to the MTV Latin Awards. She?s unbearable on that show so I?m not even going to talk about it.
Canadian pop star Avril Lavigne has denied copying a song by 1970s rock band The Rubinoos.
Songwriters Tommy Dunbar and James Gangwer allege Lavigne’s recent hit single Girlfriend was lifted from their 1979 song I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend.
But Lavigne said she has “never in my life heard of” the band and says her song has “no musical similarities”.
“Their claim is based on five words,” she wrote on her website. “All songs share similar lyrics and emotions.”
Dunbar and Gangwer launched a legal case against Lavigne in a US District Court in San Francisco last week.
They alleged that “the lyric, the meter, the rhythm” of the Canadian star’s song were “identical” to their tune.
But Lavigne reacted angrily to the claims in a message headed “to my dear media, friends, and fans”.
“Simply put, I have been falsely accused of ripping their song off,” she said.
“Luke [Gottwald, songwriter] and I have done nothing wrong and there is no merit to their claim.”
The 22-year-old singer went on to say that the lyrical conceit of Girlfriend could be compared to other hit records.
Although Avril is throwing quite a bit of salt in her rival’s game in the song “Girlfriend”, she has showed some female solidarity and has decided to give the song to a up-and-coming singer Lil Mama to make a new version of it to throw some raps on the hit ditty.
The singer said in an interview: “I heard Lil Mama was working with one of my producers and that she really liked ‘Girlfriend’ and had done a remix version”, Lavigne said. “I heard about it and thought it would be great to work together, because I think she’s really talented. We’re all really excited about it.”
Lil Mama whose single “Lip Gloss” cracked TRL top 10 this week is very anxious to work with Avril. She says: “I think she was up on ‘Lip Gloss’, but I didn’t meet her or anything”.
“I submitted the remix ’cause I was feeling her song. She had other offers but decided to go with me, so I feel blessed that I’m the one she wanted to work with. The beat is crazy, it’s a rock joint”, Mama added. “I’m into different types of music, so I thought it was a good opportunity for me. I’m just rapping about the song; I’m sticking to theme. She’s like, ‘I don’t like your girlfriend.’ I’m saying the same thing from a rapper’s point of view. You know how a new person introduces themselves on a track because the world doesn’t know them? I’m still doing that; introducing who Lil Mama is, but I’m also sticking to the topic so it makes sense.”
Mama has also done an unofficial remix of Rihanna’s “Umbrella” ? which she’s posted along with the “Girlfriend” mix on her MySpace page ? and an official remix of Sean Kingston’s “Beautiful Girl”, which is coming soon. Her debut, “Voice of the Young People”, is due in September. The next single will be called “Put ‘Em Down” and we should hear that this summer.

And although the censoring caption on the cover says she?s hot, taking a look inside proves otherwise. She was pictured as someone that encourages a lot of drinking, smoking and just plain showing everything off. If not for a jacket, this shoot could be mistaken for a Playboy photo op.
Her interview does nothing to save whatever dignity she has. Plain and simple, she?s painted as the stupid girl that does all these things to get noticed. Or maybe that?s how she really is. Remember that time when she said she doesn?t like Britney? Well, she sure as heck is starting to act like her. Make up your mind Avril!
