Rapper 50 Cent has launched his own tough times stimulus plan for single mothers.
He asked them to enter an essay contest, 50’s Money For Moms, for which three grand prizes of $10,000 each will be awarded.
50 Cent’s record company, Interscope Records, said in a statement: “During the next week, 50 Cent will not only be on television, on the internet, and at a pair of retail stores promoting his new Before I Self Destruct album and film, but he’ll also be playing Santa this holiday season.”
The company explained: “Amidst tough economic times, 50 Cent is implementing his own stimulus package, specifically to help single mothers. For 50’s Money For Moms contest in conjunction with BET, entrants must explain in 200 words or less why she – or a single mother the writer knows – deserves to win one of three grand prizes of $10,000 each from 50 Cent.”
50 Cent bares his chiselled upper body in the ad for ‘Power by 50 Cent’, the rapper’s new fragrance. When asked about the new scent, 50 said “For me, power isn’t just something you learn on the street or in the boardroom, it’s a way of life. I really wanted to bottle up the rush it gives you so my fans can make it a part of their lifestyle.” His new fragrance has top notes of lemon leaves, black pepper, coriander and musk with notes of green citrus and a woody background. ‘Power’ is now available at Macy’s with prices ranging from $50.50 for the eau de toilette to $68.50 for a two-piece gift set.
The rapper recently shared one more of those pieces of info of which you wonder about getting him into legal trouble or not. It seems 50 Cent was a drug dealer back when he was twelve years old… but wait, that’s not all of it! 50 Cent explained why he was forced to get into such a dangerous line of work: “I sold drugs and I was in a situation where there weren’t many options available to me – I was so young that working wasn’t an option so that’s when I was dealing, when I was 12.” That’s really cute, but shouldn’t he have kept that to himself? He can afford to lose “a few million” in a recession now, why should he share his childhood drama? Where’s the gain… except for some serious legal issues.
50 Cent’s music career may be falling in a quick downward spiral but at the very least, his movie career seems to be going strong. The rapper has been cast in a new police corruption drama called ‘Caught in the Crossfires’. His co-stars include the likes of Chris Klein, Adam Rodriguez and Richard T. Jones. The story will follow two homicide police officers caught in the middle of a war between dirty cops and gangs. 50 will play the role of a gang member who is forced to become an informer. What is with rappers wanting to be movie stars?
The investigators in charge of the burning down of 50 Cent’s Long Island mansion have not yet cleared anyone as a suspect… including 50 Cent himself, who apparently issued a statement saying otherwise: The police department and insurance investigators ruled that there is absolutely no proof or evidence suggesting that Curtis Jackson or any affiliated parties were involved. Curtis Jackson has just been cleared of all the accusations. The investigation will continue until the guilty party is found.” 50 Cent is under the suspicion that he burned down his own house… worth 1.4 million dollars, I might add? Talk about having a temper… or some overdue mortgages. Leave it to the modern banking system to get you doing things you wouldn’t normally consider.
The rapper considers his fellow singer to be a bit over the age limit for touring. 50 Cent explained his idea: Jay is in a different space in his career. He may be tired of running around and negotiating each individual deal. The deal would be actually putting that in someone else’s hands. I’m comfortable doing it the way I’ve been doing it. The difference between him and me is obvious. He’s married to Beyonce, he’s getting ready to be 40 years old. He’s in a different place, he might not want to run around, and even touring may soon be out of the question. He might want to be in the office and run one of the companies.” This must be the way a rapper like 50 Cent tries to tell his colleague that it’s time to stop clogging up the scene and give others a chance. Either that, or 40 years might be the life expectancy for success with rappers.
You might want to sit down for this because I have some ridiculous news. 50 Cent is due to join Fall Out Boy on their ‘Believers Never Die Part Deux’ tour. Since when did they become buddies? I actually fell out of my seat laughing when I found out about this one. Regardless, the rapper has been announced to be performing at the April 14th date of Fall Out Boy’s tour in Dallas, Texas. 50 has also signed on to open for the band for four other shows, bringing the total number of shows to five. I still can’t get over how strange this pairing is.
Its official! Kanye West beat 50 cent in their sales battle. West?s ? graduation? album outsold 50 Cent?s ?curtis? in the first week sales, 957000 to 691000 copies and that?s a huge margin of victory at about 266000 copies more. But let me tell you every blockbuster opens up in the first week very well because of huge expectations and the underdog will have a quite opening, wait until a couple of weeks have passed and then you should have a re look at the sales number. Wasn?t this exactly what 50 Cent predicted? That Kanye would beat him in the first week but he would bulldozer over him in the following weeks that Kanye?s hype would wear off as soon as people realized that it?s nothing but crap, Not that I care. 50 Cents is a close minded criminal and Kanye is a little Bitch. Kanye might have won the battle and I admit to that but the war is not over. There are small battles that are always won and lost but what matters is who wins that war.
50 Cent has slammed the bosses of cable music show “106 & Park” for failing to let him know rap rival Kanye West would be joined by hip-hop heavyweight Jay-Z during a TV face-off on Tuesday. I think 50 needs to just go ahead and retire. EVERYTHING IS NOT ALWAYSZ ABOUT YOU. 50 had the opportunity to do whatever he wanted on 106 Park. He has all of his smart (he claims that he is very smart and acute in all business senses) comments he is claims he is the best, then he should have thought of bringing Eminem not West problems. 50 Cent is just MAD because he was upstaged by West. West new what he had to do to sale them records. GO WEST! Sit it down 50 its over. Gy him have only one weapon in their hands and that is to way their tongues at every given opportunity and even when its not their chance to speak, they?ll come out and say the nicest things about themselves. 50 Cent, please leave for good.
The showdown has come to Rolling Stone magazine?s cover. Kanye West and 50 Cent are featured on the latest cover of the magazine highlighting the fact that their albums would be dropping on the same date of September 11th in less than a week.
There?s an accompanying article entitled ?Who Will Be the King of Hip Hop?? where 50 pretty much talks Kanye down. 50 says that he had the highest-selling LB of 2003 and his 2005 released was the second-highest-selling album of that year. He goes on to compare Jay-Z?s recent sales to segue into saying that Kanye is merely a worker bee for Jay-Z and that Kanye can never generate as much interest.
Earlier in the week, 50 cent said that he?s going to stop putting out solo records if his arch rival Kanye West?s new album outsells his when they drop on the same day next month. Get ready with your retirement plans 50.
They might be getting equal promotion at the very top of the iTunes store but Kanye is still outselling 50 when it comes to pre-orders. Kanye is up at #3 on the iTunes Top Albums chart while 50 is only at #9. On the singles chart, Kanye?s kick-off song ?Stronger? is at #2 while 50?s ?Ayo Technology? is at #10.
It seems that not even Justin Timberlake?s collaboration could help 50. Game over.
