Kanye West is featured on the cover of the latest issue of Complex magazine. Instead of having an intensive interview with the rapper, the magazine had some of Kanye’s friends talk about him. One such comment was from friend and collaborator Nicki Minaj. She said “He’s a legend in hip-hop and in pop culture and to be on his album is a blessing. I don’t even remember him ever working with a female rapper, so to be on an album and on a record this monstrous? I couldn’t have planned it better in a perfect world.” At least Kanye knows that there are some people in this world that still like him.
It looks like things aren’t going too slow for Christina Aguilera in her new relationship. The singer recently met the family of her new boyfriend, Matt Rutler. This is what a source related on the event: “This is the first Thanksgiving she was without Max. It was really hard for her and she was feeling sad, so she decided to go to the East Coast with Matt and a group of friends. Since his family lives so close, they decided to drop in for a few hours.” Christina Aguilera sure doesn’t waste any time, does she? But what happened to the whole Max is everything to her and whatnot? You would’ve expected her to be after sole custody first of all, not new boyfriends.
While we are on Christina Aguilera topic, Christina Aguilera featured in T.I. new song titled “Castle Walls” released today (Tuesday)
T.I. feat.Christina Aguilera – Castle Walls – New Song:
Chris Brown’s new mix tape “In My Zone 2” is now available for free download online. The R&B singer released the new set online on Black Friday. The mix tape includes 19 new songs and new collaborations with the likes of Gucci Mane, Petey Pablo, Big Sean, Kevin McCall and more. Chris also wanted to gives fans an early Christmas gift by recording a tune called “Christmas Came Today”. I’m really enjoying the mix tape and it’s well worth the time it takes for all of the songs to download. If you’re a fan of Chris’, it’s the perfect way for you to be reminded as to why you became a fan while you wait for his new studio album “FAME” which comes out next year.
I’ve got some new details to share about Lady Gaga’s new album. A source who was present at the princess of pop’s concert in Gdansk, Poland said that the singer herself talked about her new record during one of the breaks on the show. Lady Gaga shared with the audience that it’s highly likely that her upcoming album “Born This Way” will consist of 20 new tracks. That’s insane! I was excited to hear some new music from her before but finding out that there could be 20 new songs just sent me over the top. I am beyond excited for this!
The singer has recently released a new music video for his also new single, “Pray”. As you would probably expect the video is a collage of footage from many of Justin Bieber’s travels where he visits sick children, on duty soldiers and so on and so fourth. At some points it is a bit touching. The images actually manage to augment the song’s potential a little bit and that’s probably the best thing this video has to offer… aside from being a reasonably powerful promotion tool, that is. To wrap it all up, there are also some images of Justin Bieber playing his guitar and singing suspended somewhere in a big metal heart. And if that’s not confusing enough, the images are black and white. That’s where the video kind of derails a bit.

Joe Jonas has reportedly made some major changes on his upcoming debut CD. The pop singer was said to have started with a softer sound but has done a big 180 and switched gears to a more dance-filled and upbeat record. The Jonas Brothers member told In Style “I began writing it with a Michael Buble mentality, but now I’m switching gears a bit.” Joe has even asked electropop singer/producer FrankMusik to collaborate, saying “He’s awesome. We’ve gone through couple of different sounds.” It seems like Joe is definitely trying to keep away from that old Jonas Brothers sound. Do you think he has what it takes to make it?
It seems that there are still some undisclosed things to her pregnancy that Mariah Carey has yet to willingly reveal… but she might have done it by accident. While recently relating about singing Christmas songs to her unborn offspring, Mariah Carey let slip the following line: “I just hope that they don’t turn out hating Christmas!” Well, well… it seems that Mariah Carey might have her hands twice as full as she initially thought… or, who knows, maybe even thrice as full. It looks like it’s going to be a long winter for the Careys… poor Nick Cannon, he might be getting more than he can handle.
Sources are reporting that The Black Eyed Peas are set to headline the Super Bowl Half Time Show at the 2011 championship game on February 6th. The hip hop band will be the first urban music performers to play the Super Bowl since the infamous Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction in 2004. Over the past couple of years, rock stars like Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, the Rolling Stones and Prince have been given the coveted spot. But BEP seems to have planned this perfectly as the Super Bowl performance will lead up to the release of their upcoming album “The Beginning”.

It really is a drag when you’re from Australia and celebrate Christians with the Christians because it never snows down there when it is supposed to. Kylie Minogue is apparently in the same predicament, but this year she’s going to be spending the holidays at New York and she’s hoping for the best. This is what Kylie Minogue said on the matter: “I think it’s kind of ironic that I’m singing ‘Let It Snow’ being an Australian – we don’t have snow at Christmas time. So if in fact it does snow whilst I’m in New York this year, I’ll be like a five year old kid, I’ll be so excited. It’s always a big thrill for me to be on the side of the world where it’s a white Christmas.” Who knows, maybe even Santa Claus will drop in for a visit… after all, everyone knows he rarely travels as far south as Australia.
Four songs were covered on this week’s episode of “Glee”. Jane Lynch and guest star Carol Burnett made a harmony of “Ohio” from the 1953 musical “Wonderful Town”. Two Bruno Mars’ songs were also featured, namely “Just the Way You Are” and “Marry You”. Matthew Morrison also sang the Pablo Beltran Ruiz song “Sway”, as covered by Michael Buble as well as the Pussycat Dolls. All of the songs were released as singles and available for digital download but “Ohio” is not featured in the album “Glee: The Music, Volume 4”. If it wasn’t for the Bruno Mars songs, the songs on this week’s episodes would have been graded with a B-, but since the R&B hits are there, I give it an A.

Bono is planning to transform some of Australia’s most famous landmarks into a sea of red to mark World AIDS Day. As the founder of AIDS organization Red, the 50-year-old U2 front-man has been invited Down Under to change the colour of Sydney’s Harbour Bridge and Opera House next Tuesday as part of the charity’s global awareness-raising day. The Daily Telegraph reported that Premier Kristina Keneally and Governor-General Quentin Bryce will host the ceremony and other landmarks of international fame, such as the London Eye, will also be given the same treatment.
The singer’s father, Keith Hudson, is apparently very happy about the fact that his new son-in-law is Russell Brand and no other. This is what Katy Perry’s father had to say about Russell Brand: “I could not have wished for a better son-in-law in Russell. He makes my girl so happy. She’s so happy and he makes her light up. They’re going to be just fine. You couldn’t see two fucking happier people.” One must admire his enthusiasm, but the language doesn’t really befit a Christian pastor, now does it? Oh well, at least he’s happy that Katy Perry is happy. This is probably where the expression “one big happy family” comes into play.
The singer has recently released a new track together with Soulja Boy called “BBM”. It’s not really as catchy as his earlier work, but then again that doesn’t seem to be its purpose. Apparently the song deals with how the blackberry interferes with the ongoing progress of a relationship. Musically it sounds like a sort of combination between R&B and Electro, but it doesn’t really seem to get anywhere. Soulja Boy’s intervention doesn’t do it too much good either. Well, maybe it’s not a total loss for Sean Kingston… surely there will be someone out there who will like it at least a little bit. It’s a good thing he has some previous better material backing him up.
Miley Cyrus was originally set to perform the Poison hit “Every Rose has Its Thorn” at the 2010 American Music Awards held at the Nokia Theatre LA Live in Los Angeles this past Sunday. However, the Disney singer/actress made a last minute switch and performed her song “Love and Forgiveness” off of her album “Can’t Be Tamed” instead. I wonder if it’s because of the reports that her parents are actually going through a divorce because her mom allegedly had an affair with Poison rock star Bret Michaels. It’s a big possibility. In any case, Miley did well on her performance. I’m glad to see that she managed to keep herself together through these tough times.

The New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys are kicking off their joint tour at the American Music Awards that will be going down this Sunday and I have for you an exclusive at the set list for the boy bands’ performance. The performance will showcase the both pop groups’ biggest hits including “Backstreet’s Back”, “Hangin’ Tough”, “I Want it That Way”, “Step by Step”, “Right Stuff” and “Larger Than Life”. If that doesn’t take you back in time, I don’t know what will. I can already hear adults regressing to their teeny bopper days. Mind you, BSB and NKOTB are also the ceremony’s closers.
The band has released a new music video, this time for their song “SING”. The video is a bit more epic than any of the other stuff released today as it actually features all the guys from My Chemical Romance in a few very simple action scenes. Unfortunately, that’s pretty much all the good to be expected out of this video as the music is very, very repetitive and even annoying and the lyrics aren’t really any better. My Chemical Romance seem to have gone to a pop/rock sound rather than their old alternative rock and emo days. From what you can see and hear from this video, it’s not a very good change.

Bruno Mars, who was arrested for possession of cocaine at the Hard Rock Hotel back in September, was supposed to be due in court yesterday to face those charges. However, the R&B singer has instead rescheduled his appearance until December 14th. His lawyers, Blair Berk and David Chesnoff, declined to comment regarding the reasons for the postponement. It definitely made me more curious. I doubt the reason for the switch is anything that crazy but I want to see how his excuse would fare in court. What do you think the reason for the postponement is? I hope Bruno made the right choice.

15 years ago, Smashing Pumpkins lead singer Billy Corgan ignited a feud with indie rock band Pavement. 15 years later, the rock star is still at it. As you all know, Smashing Pumpkins is re-launching for a new album and tour later this month. One of the tour stops is in Brazil and Billy has just learned that he will be sharing the stage with his rivals Pavement. Billy then took to his Twitter to comment, saying “Just found out SP is playing with Pavement in Brazil. It’s gonna be 1 of those New Orleans type funerals. I say that because they represent the death of the alternative dream, and we follow with the affirmation of life part. Funny how those who pointed the big finger of ‘sell out’ are the biggest offenders now. Yawn. they have no love … We’ll be the band up there playing NEW songs because we have the love.” Talk about bad blood.
BoB keeps on releasing singles from his debut album “The Adventures of Bobby Ray” which was released in April of this year. After the rapper’s chart-topping hits “Nothin’ on You” featuring Bruno Mars, “Airplanes” featuring Hayley Williams and “Magic” featuring Rivers Cuomo, he has now released the song “Don’t Let Me Fall”. It’s actually one of my favorite cuts from BoB’s album and I’m so happy that it got picked to be a single. The music video has also recently premiered. I wonder if he will just keep on releasing singles from his debut album or if he’s actually planning to make a new album soon. Either way, he’s got great music and I can’t wait to see what he has in store.

Nicki Minaj is featured on the cover of the upcoming issue of Billboard magazine which names the 25-year old rapper ‘The First Lady of Hip Hop’. In the accompanying interview, Nicki talks about her rapping style, saying “When I started rapping, people were trying to make me like the typical New York rapper, but I’m not that. No disrespect to New York rappers, but I don’t want people to hear me and know exactly where I’m from. I wanted the album to be universal and versatile. It really feels like it speaks for every one of my personalities.” It’s great that she wants to set herself apart from everyone else. I think that’s why she has a lot of people supporting her.

Simon Cowell has ordered Cheryl Cole to crack America if she wants to be considered for a role in the US version of The X-Factor, it has been reported. The music mogul apparently urged her to sign a £6million US contract with Universal, so that she can one day be in with a chance of making the show. A source told Now magazine, “Simon told her it was imperative that she breaks the US with her music before she has any shot of doing TV because she is so unknown there. “He is trying to sort out a job for her on the panel, but he knows he won’t be listened to unless she can make a name for herself over there. “Being told she had a slim-to-zero chance of getting the US X-Factor job was a kick in the teeth, so the record contract was quickly a done deal.” The 27-year-old, who divorced ex-husband Ashley Cole earlier this year, is expected to have to spend six hard months promoting her Messy Little Raindrops album.
Carrie Underwood has a brand new single out called “There’s a Place for Us”. The song was co-written by the country singer, David Hodges and Hillary Lindsey. The song will serve as the theme music for the upcoming “Chronicles of Narnia” sequel, “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader”. The movie will hit theaters on December 10. Meanwhile, you can go ahead and grab Carrie’s new single which is available on iTunes right now. It’s an inspiring song that’s sure to melt your hearts. I know it melted mine. There’s a great message in there for people who are feeling alone and out of place.

Cee Lo Green was recently asked what he thought of Gwyneth Paltrow’s cover of his song ‘F—k You’, which will appear on ‘Glee’ this week. The soul singer said “I must say hearing this song sung by Gwyneth Paltrow, an Academy Award winner, is a timeless flattery I won’t soon forget.” Are you excited to see Gwyneth sing Cee Lo’s song on ‘Glee’? Watch for it tonight. I’m hoping for another epic episode like last week and not just another stunt episode. I think I’ve had enough of those already. Here’s to hoping for a great plot and a great episode.

Kanye West has cancelled his November 26 Today Show concert in the wake of his “torturous” interview with Matt Lauer. The rapper went on Twitter to announce the news, saying “I’m not performing on the Today Show for obvious reasons. I’m so happy the world got to see just a small piece of ‘the set up’. I blatantly said I’m not performing on a tweet and to everyone around me and the next day they still announced a performance. Do you guys see what I’m saying now? This is just a small slice of the day to day bull—- that goes on to help precipitate the idea that I’m an an ass—- cause when I don’t perform oh noooow I’m the one that’s crazy or a jerk! All positive energy … all smiles. Much love to Matt and the whole Today Show. I accept ya’ll future apology in advance LOL!”

One Republic has recently debuted the music video for ‘Good Life’. The song is the latest single coming off of the band’s sophomore album ‘Waking Up’, which is available in stores now. The song is likable enough with it’s nice lyrics and melody but I don’t think this would be a huge hit for Ryan Tedder and company. But I am happy that the band is getting the chance to get more singles out from ‘Waking Up’. As for the new video, which was directed by Ethan Lader, it’s good in its simplicity. It simply shows One Republic playing the song in the countryside with a carefree spirit.

The White Stripes have been on a hiatus since 2007 but lead singer Jack White recently revealed that he and Meg White are headed back into the studio to record another album. The rock star said “We thought we’d do a lot of things that we’d never done: a full tour of Canada, a documentary, coffee-table book, live album, a boxed set. It was one long project that took almost three years.
Now that we’ve gotten a lot of that out of our system, Meg and I can get back in the studio and start fresh.” I can’t wait to see what they’ve got in store.
Sources are saying that ‘Glee’ producers are rethinking their initial plan to do a tribute episode following the Super Bowl this year. It has been reported that the hit FOX TV series was considering an homage to either Bruce Springsteen or Michael Jackson, but now, Ryan Murphy and others are leaning towards a regular episode. There are good things and bad things to the strategy but I kind of agree with having a regular episode instead of getting another stunt one. I say get back to basics and remind everyone why we fell in love with this show. We all love Madonna and The Boss and that wouldn’t change. Let’s remember why we love Rachel, Finn, Kurt and friends.
Timbaland recently reached out to his fans in a very cool way last week. The super producer posted a video on his Twitter page answering questions from his followers about what he’s been up to. Topics ranged from his new free song giveaway to Kanye West. Timbaland also talked about working with Lady Gaga and admit that the collaboration between him and the princess of pop is already in the process of happening. That sounds awesome! I think he could definitely make a sick beat with Lady Gaga and she would definitely kill it on vocals. I wonder when this is going down.
