Kanye West is back with a new song called ‘Power’ which features soul singer Dwele. The song is off of the rapper’s forthcoming album, tentatively called ‘Good Ass Job’. In the song, Kanye attacks Saturday Night Live for mocking him after his infamous interruption of Taylor Swift’s win during last year’s MTV VMAs. The lyrics go “F–k SNL and the whole cast, tell them Yeezy said they can kiss my whole ass / More specifically, they can kiss my a–hole / I’m an a–hole? You n—as got jokes. They say I was the abomination of Obama’s nation, well that’s a really bad way to start the conversation / At the end of the day, God Dammit, I’m killing this s–t, I know damn well they feeling this shit / I don’t need your p—y, b–ch, ’cause I’m on my own d**k.”
American Idol champion Lee DeWyze and runner up Crystal Bowersox have both signed their recording contracts. The 24-year old season 9 winner is signed to 19 Recordings and RCA Records while the 24-year old Janis Joplin sound alike is signed to 19 Recordings and Jive Records. Lee joins fellow alums Chris Daughtry and Adam Lambert as label mates while Cyrstal joins Jordin Sparks, Kris Allen and Allison Iraheta. I wonder which of them can come up with a hit first. Congratulations on those music deals! I hope that both of them deliver some great music and wish them successful careers.
It’s going to be just a little show in little casino Mississippi, but who’s to say he won’t be going on tour too? After all, if Bret Michaels can do a show, why not 5 or 6 or 10? However, his doctor doesn’t really consider that Bret Michaels is truly ready to get back on stage and this is what he said about the show: “Bret will be slower on stage … not a lot of dancing and will take it easy.” Surely everyone will be happy to see the Poison singer back on stage and his managers might just get a sound night of sleep knowing it as well. It’s the first step to a full recovery.
Well, there’s nothing too new or shocking in that, but the way Nick Cannon expresses it and the idea he’s trying to get across don’t really match up. This is what he said about Mariah Carey: ”Imagine if you’ve got the diva of all divas. If we’ve got to be somewhere at five or six o’clock, I tell her it’s time to go at noon so she gets those five hours to do what she needs to do.” How Nick Cannon can actually consider that to be a good thing is purely beyond understanding, but hey, if he likes waiting around for more than a sixth of his day, why try to stop him?
And very happy about it… and also getting married with the father. So far it all sounds like a fairy tale, doesn’t it? It seems Alicia Keys is expecting her very first child with producer Swizz Beatz with whom she will also be getting married later this year. This is what a representative of Alicia Keys said on the matter: ”They are very happy. Alicia is with the man who has inspired so much of her music and her album ‘The Element of Freedom’.” Things seem to be going so fabulous for her… something must go awry at some point. But until that point comes, there will be nothing left to do for Alicia Keys but rejoice. This might just be the beginning of a new brood.
Kings of Leon is putting the finishing touches on their fifth album. Drummer Nathan Followill spoke to Billboard about how the band and producers Jacquire King and Angelo Petraglia “did a majority of (the album) in New York City and decided to come home to do the last couple of weeks just to fool around and do it at home [in Nashville]. Honestly, with the success of the last record…a lot of people thought we would put a lot of pressure on ourselves and go in there and try to recreate what we thought was successful on the last record… And I’ll be damned if we didn’t go in there and make a fun record. It’s got songs that are beachy. It’s got songs that are a little more of our (2003 debut album) Youth and Young Manhood days — pretty much all across the board. We’re super excited. Everything, we feel, fits perfectly for this project. It’ll be interesting to see how well-received it is.” Are you ready for new music from Kings of Leon?
On Monday, Slipknot bassist Paul Gray was found dead in his Iowa hotel room but police still have no clue as to what caused the rock star’s death. An autopsy was performed on Tuesday but it yielded no new information. Police are now waiting on the toxicology report, which takes about a month, to determine the cause of death. Police were able to rule out any foul play or trauma to Paul and determined that he had been dead for several hours when his body was finally discovered by a hotel employee. Again, my condolences go out to his family and friends in this difficult time.
Among the many, many surprises prepared by the American Idol producers that got leaked on the internet was also the rumor of Janet Jackson’s appearance on the show. True enough, the singer did make a “surprise” appearance, apparently at a very good moment in order to break-up a very nasty sounding chorus formed of the contestants and sing “Nothing” and “Nasty”, which is quite ironic in hindsight. Also Janet Jackson probably took the opportunity to show off her new haircut and shock her fans… some of whom might have confused her for Rihanna. She might want to get ready for a lot of that since now the two are very much similar.
The very last sing-off of American Idol between Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze apparently didn’t turn out to be such an epic ending as some might have wished… or hoped. It seems the show’s ratings fell by 23% in comparison to what they were last year and these also have every chance of being the lowest ratings ever for American Idol. And since Simon Cowell is leaving the show, it’s a surprise they’re even holding auditions for another season. If there was ever a good time for Simon Cowell to start his own American version of The X Factor, this is it. His leaving does however reminisce of what rats do when a ship sinks.
Do you care who will win American Idol 2010?
Britney Spears recently took to her Twitter – my bad. I meant the pop singer’s manager went on Twitter to reveal her secret collaboration request. The tweet read “If you could duet with any artist who would it be? [I] would love to do a duet with Robbie Williams.” To be honest, I never saw that one coming but I do think there’s some promise there. I wonder if the powers of Twitter are powerful enough and can actually make that dream of hers come true and get her a duet with the British singer. Does Robbie even have his own Twitter account?
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has opened up about his childhood dreams and how he discovered the tragic truth about his “kingpin” father’s death.
During his Tuesday night appearance on Bravo TV’s Inside The Actor’s Studio, the actor and music mogul also told how his dreams of making his mother proud spurred him on to graduate from university and begin making his millions.
Now aged 40, the Harlem-born rapper, actor and successful fashion designer appeared on the show to celebrate his many successes, watched from the front row by his beaming mother Janis and teenage son Justin.
Named one of Time magazine’s “100 most influential people of 2006″, the father-of-five, who has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, chronicled his path to stardom.
He revealed he was aged just three when his father, Melvin Combs, died.
“I would dream about him throwing me up in the air,” he told host James Lipton.
“That’s the only memory I have of him. My mother is a very protective mother. She didn’t tell me the whole truth, she told me he died in a car accident.
“I went to the library to go through the microfilm and I searched my father and it came up that they had called him a ‘Kingpin’ in Harlem and that he was killed on Central Park West. He had got shot in his head, that’s how I found out about my father.”
Combs told of his schoolboy dreams to become an American football star, which he was forced to give up when he broke his leg at a crucial point in high school.
“It broke my heart, I had to learn at a young age that things happen and sometimes your dreams get deferred, and you don’t have to give up your dreams,” he said.
Fox has given the green light to a third series of Glee.
Entertainment Weekly reports series creator Ryan Murphy commenting: “It’s been a whirlwind year – from shooting the pilot to performing at the White House to the concert tour that began last week.
“We think our Gleeks worldwide are going to love what we’ll have in store for them in seasons two and three.”
The hit musical show has featured celebrity guest-stars including Olivia Newton-John and Neil Patrick Harris and won a number of awards including a Peabody, a Golden Globe, and a Screen Actors Guild award.
Glee actress Lea Michele was this year named as one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential
It looks like Nick Jonas isn’t the only one hoping for a solid career outside of the Jonas Brothers as older brother Joe Jonas has announced plans to release a solo album himself. The singer said “There’s nothing to hide. We’re just waiting for the right timing. There’s a lot of Jonas stuff going on this year, so once there’s a place for that record, we’ll release it. You’ll hear a lot of new music from us.” The Jonas Brothers are planning a summer tour together so we’ll probably get to hear Joe’s solo stuff after that’s done. The question is if anyone cares.
According to Courtney Love, if she had her way, Christina Aguilera’s self-esteem anthem ‘Beautiful’ would have been hers. Thankfully, the song’s writer Linday Perry told her that the fit wasn’t right. The Hole singer revealed “In my entire life I’ve never wanted a song fully rendered, that someone else has written – ever… [the song] was 11 years old at the time… and she ended up giving it to Christina Aguilera, but I begged her for it. She said to me at the time… ‘You’re not ready for top 40; you will be. You’ll hate this song because you didn’t write it’ – which is totally true… and then we got into a fierce fight about whether she should give it to Britney [Spears] or Christina. She said, ‘Someday, you and me are gonna write a song that’s better and better suited for you’. Again it’s an old song… She just whipped it out one day.” It would have been interesting to hear Courtney’s take on it but I wouldn’t trade Christina’s version for it.
Jack White is auctioning off a red and white custom made marimba used in the White Stripes’ 2005 Get Behind Me Satan tour. All proceeds will benefit flood victims in his current hometown of Nashville. The instrument has been kept in a case since 2006 and it’s ready to be bid on at eBay. I say grab the chance to get a piece of the band’s music history and help out a great cause. I wonder how the auction will go and how high the marimba will go for. If that was one of Jack’s guitars I’m pretty sure it would go pretty high.
Singing sensation Susan Boyle has been approached to guest star on Glee.
The co-creator of the hit show, Ryan Murphy, has revealed what role he would like the Britain’s Got Talent star to play: “I have two words for you: Lunch. Lady.”
He told Entertainment Weekly: “I think Kurt would just die to give her a Christmas makeover. I don’t even know if she’s interested but it’s been pitched.”
Other celebrities who’ve appeared on the show include Neil Patrick Harris and Olivia Newton-John.
Murphy also said there were plans for a Christmas album.
Ryan Murphy has just confirmed that the producers of ‘Glee’ will be doing a sequel to their smash hit episode ‘The Power of Madonna’. And guess what? They might even get the Queen of Pop to make an appearance! Ryan said “I can’t say. But she’s sort of the muse of our show. She loves the show and has supported it. She gets that the show is about arts education and so she’s very supportive about that.” I can’t wait for it! I wonder what Madonna songs the cast would sing this time around. And of course I’m expecting another album from them.
Justin Bieber has been nominated for a Black Entertainment Television award, earning a nomination in the Best New Artist category alongside Nicki Minaj, B.o.B., Young Money and Melanie Fiona. Stephen Hill, BET’s President of Music Programming and Specials, says “Bieber has crossed the color boundaries the same way that hip-hop has crossed the boundaries the other way for a number of years. He’s had rhythm in his music. He makes the type of music our audience likes.” I’m not entirely sure about all those things fitting the young pop singer but to each his own I guess. The fact that he’s been mentored by Usher must have helped. Congratulations Justin!
And what a battle it will be! Now that this season of American Idol is drawing to a close there is great anticipation for next week’s final battle between Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze, especially since nobody knows where Casey James’ votes will go. It seems that Lee DeWyze is the one who will sing first as decided by Crystal Bowersox who won the coin toss on the matter. She’s the first female finalist in a pretty long time so it’s probably going to be a pretty interesting confrontation next week. Simon Cowell is probably besides himself with excitement, especially since this is his very last American Idol finale.
So even if the pop singing does come to an end, Justin Bieber will still have a trade to fall back on. It looks like the director of “Valentine’s Day”, Gary Marshall, has recently hinted that the movie’s sequel, “New Year’s Eve”, might include the teenage pop singer. This is what Gary Marhsall said on the matter: Already, they’re mentioning Justin Bieber. I have no idea who that is, but I’m sure we’ll meet. I have a script. I did a rewrite. We’re rewriting it now.” It seems the good director is immune to the fever that has been going around because of Justin Bieber… that might make the singer’s job a bit more difficult. But how hard could it be to act in a movie about a holiday?
The sex tape, which shows VERY EXPLICIT AND GRAPHIC scenes, It was made a few years back, before Nicki Minaj got famous. And in it it shows Nicki Minaj doing all kinds of stuff.
God bless America! The land of eternal lawsuits… that’s probably what Axl Rose was thinking when he decided to counter sue his former manager, Irving Azoff, for a minimum of five million dollars. It seems that Axl Rose claims his former tried to sabotage him and compel him to do a reunion tour with all of the former members of Guns N’Roses. How dare he? The fiend! Can you imagine how much that would’ve hurt all of those poor fans out there… to see Axl Rose suffer on stage with his old band mates? Truly justice needs to be done here!
As no American Idol finale would be complete without two finalists, Crystal Bowersox has to have somebody to battle it out with and that somebody is apparently going to be Lee DeWyze. For his big performance last night Simon Cowell picked Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” for Lee DeWyze saying the following about the choice: “This is his night, big, big night for him, and I wanted him to do something which shows that he has potential to be a great artist.” It looks like Simon Cowell’s gut really does tell him some true things because it was an excellent choice for Lee DeWyze who managed to drown the whole place in applause when he was done… and he also got himself a nice first place on the idol meter.

Greyson Chance is the latest YouTube sensation to get himself a record deal. And the kid is just 12 years old! The big-voiced sixth grader, who has attracted nearly 14 million viewers on YouTube with his rendition of Lady Gaga’s ‘Paparazzi’, has reportedly signed a deal with Interscope Records but no confirmation from the label has been made. Some sources are saying that “Interscope [chairman] Jimmy Iovine closed the deal before any other label could even step in and meet the kid.” Congratulations to Greyson if it is true. Did you know that the kid has been taking piano lessons for 3 years but has never taken vocal lessons? Amazing!
The former Beatle thinks that he and his old band mates would’ve probably reunited for a good cause after a lengthy period of time, even though they did turn down a few offers to do so after they split back in 1970. This is what Paul McCartney said on the matter: “We were asked to do reunion concerts shortly after we broke up. It wasn’t really a good idea then, but I think if this much time had elapsed, I could easily see it happening. Somebody would have said, ‘Oh go on. Just for a laugh.’ It could have been a charity thing. Or it could have been because we just met up and said, ‘Let’s do it.’ You never know. But it’s not to be so sadly it’s all just conjecture.” Yeah, it is a bit too late for something like this… but then again, Ringo Starr would’ve probably made a botch of things if it were to be. Paul McCartney is probably happy where he is with his solo project and whatnot.
Twitter has tweaked how they come up with their Trending Topics list, which means that Justin Bieber would no longer trend daily. The official Twitter page says “We have tweaked our worldwide trending topic algorithm to better capture the most emergent trends being talked about on Twitter *right now*”. Emphasis on the right now part. That means that Justin is no longer relevant every single day. The teenaged pop sensation of a singer responded on his page, tweeting “@twitter i heard you changed your system to stop my fans from making trending topics?? Really?? Where is the love??” I guess even Twitter is immune to Bieber fever.
