It seems that the American Idol contestant managed to prepare a real treat for the judges last night as he chose ?Treat Her Like That? from the Cornelius Brothers. Lee DeWyze apparently almost knocked them dead with his performance and if you need any proof of that just take a look at what Simon Cowell said about it: “You know, I’ve always believed in you. This was the night your life may have changed forever.” Yes, well Simon Cowell probably believes in everybody who can get close to winning. Still it is a good thing for Lee DeWyze to be on his good side? he may never know when he might need a favor from the gods.
Chris Brown is getting ready to celebrate his 21st birthday this May and is planning a huge party for it. However, the R&B singer has a problem on his hand as nobody wants to host it. Chris has been scouting for clubs all over the place, including New York, Miami and Las Vegas, but no one is giving him the ok to have his part at their venue. A source said ?(Some club promoters) don’t want to mess up their relationship, or their potential relationship, with Rihanna.? I can?t say I blame them. The Barbadian babe easily means more money for them as compared to Chris.
The lead singer from the band NOFX is under fire for giving out free shots of tequila during a show that were allegedly watered down with the punk rocker?s urine. Fat Mike put on a solo performance as his alter-ego Cokie the Clown. Mike began the show by passing out the shots to fans and even downed a couple. The next hour saw the singer describe his friend hanging himself, smothering his dying mother to death and milking a fan. Mike then showed the crowd a disturbing video. The video appears to begin just moments before he took the stage and showed the singer urinating into a bottle of tequila and then serving it to the audience. Gross!
The line up for the annual Wango Tango festival concert event has been announced. Ke$ha, Adam Lambert, Usher, Justin Bieber, Ludacris, Akon, Iyaz and BoB will be taking the stage at Staples Center in Los Angeles. That?s one heck of a line up and should prove to be a great treat for anyone who?s going to watch. KIIS FM?s Ryan Seacrest will host the show, along with the rest of the KIIS FM Air staff. Rihanna is apparently learning how to rock out on the drums from former Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker. According to People, the 22-year old Barbadian singer, who spent some time with a drum set in her video for ?Rude Boy?, is learning how to play so she can perform live on her upcoming tour of Europe. As for how Rihanna?s lessons are doing, Travis seems to be impressed with her work as he went on his Twitter to say ?She JAMS!!!!! Watch out for her!!? It should definitely prove to be a treat for anyone who would be catching Rihanna in concert.
Ke$ha was in Australia recently for a couple of performances. While in Sydney, the trashy pop star responded to the feedback that she?s been receiving on her album and shared what influenced her latest hit. According to the Daily Telegraph, the 23-year old singer said ?A fun party record like ?Tik Tok? isn?t something to be dissected and picked apart. Men have been doing this for years. One of my biggest influences is Beastie Boys? ?Licensed To Ill? album.? But unlike the Beastie Boys, I doubt that Ke$ha will become as relevant ? especially with her verbal diarrhea against Britney Spears and Justin Bieber.
Not only does Amy Winehouse want children now, but it looks like Beyonce might already be expecting her first. This is the news that can be found on blogging site Mediatakeout: “According to our source Beyonce is doing fine and resting (for now), but she’s expected to continue working throughout her pregnancy. And we’re also told that Jay-Z is extremely happy to be having his first child with Beyonce.” The official representatives of Beyonce and Jay-Z of course are refusing to comment on all of this, but then again that?s only natural. It seems that the producers really don?t think they can pull it off without Simon Cowell anymore? so next year?s American Idol season will be its last. Four people were badly injured at the Maharaja Organization in Sri Lanka when protesters hurled rocks at the building of the sponsor for Akon?s upcoming concert. Religious locals have taken offense to the R&B singer?s video ?Sexy Chick? which features groups of half naked women dancing at a pool party in front of a Buddha statue. Almost 200 protesters showed up outside the office holding posters and then taking a violent turn by smashing windows and destroying parked cars. The four injured network employees received immediate medical attention while police took several protesters into custody. However, it is unclear if they will face any charges.
The music business has not been kind to Mariah Carey in the past year. After two push backs and a dismal first release of a studio album last year, the singer?s remix album ?Angels Advocate? has been cancelled only a month away from its release date. A statement from her people confirmed the news but they didn?t say why it has been cancelled. In the meantime, reps for the singer say that she is looking to the future and is in the early stage of constructing a brand new album and maybe even a Christmas album. I say she should just quit when she?s ahead.

Lady Gaga has received some backlash due to her music video for ?Telephone? from bigots who claim the lesbian relationships are sadomasochistic and poison and the princess of pop is not at all pleased. The singer has recently responded to the haters and showed them up with her class. She said ?There are transsexual women and transgender women and suddenly it becomes poisonous and something else because there are some people in this world that believe being gay is a choice. It’s not a choice, we’re born this way. That’s why for me this video is groundbreaking because it has one foot in the art community and one foot in the commercial world? Hearing people say the video is sadomasochistic or that the video promotes murder for young people, it’s my personal belief that the video is getting so much attention, not because of those themes because I’ve done those themes before, haven’t I? There are no rules or limits when it comes to love. But I see love as separate from sex.?
Rapper Waka Flocka Flame, who recently recorded a video with P. Diddy, was arrested last week and he won?t be getting out any time soon. The rapper, whose real name is Juaquin James Malphurs, is on probation in Georgia for possessing a sawed-off shotgun. Cops say that he violated his probation by leaving the state. Waka is being held without bail at the Houston County Jail until he is scheduled to make his court appearance in a few weeks. It seems that the only good thing going for him right now is that his song ?O Let?s Do It? is moving up the charts.
The singer recently spoke about her godmother, Dolly Parton, and she had only the nicest things to say about the person she considers to be the nicest in the whole world. This is what Miley Cyrus said about her godmother: “She is the nicest person in the world. She’s so easy to talk to. She’s awesome. I love her. Alicia Keys will be joining Shakira and The Black Eyed Peas in performing at the FIFA World Cup Kick Off Celebration Concert in June. The concert will take place in South Africa on June 10th to celebrate the start of the World Cup and up to 30,000 spectators are expected to attend. Former soccer player and festivities organizer Lucas Radebe said ?I believe these historic events will go a long way towards uniting the people of our rainbow nation in South Africa. The promoters of the Glastonbury this summer are looking to pick up Snoop Dogg to be a part of the festival. If the rapper does decide to sign on, he?ll be joining a bill of some other big stars, including the likes of U2. I guess it was just in time for the folks at Glastonbury that Snoop is finally allowed entry into the UK. I wonder what made them decide that they wanted Snoop on board for the music fest. UK singer Eddy Grant is consulting his lawyers to consider filing a lawsuit against the Gorillaz for substantial damages over allegedly plagiarizing a song. The singer insists that the band?s new single ?Stylo? has the same keyboard riff from his 1983 track ?Time Warp?. Eddy even suggests that the group?s leader Damon Albarn is completely aware of the theft. Eddy said ?Damon Albarn knows in his heart of hearts – it’s unfortunate that we can?t get into people’s hearts – he knows that this is a song that he’s loved, in his club days? I don’t know the guy? but he knows this is a song he loves.? It?s not too far of a stretch, considering that both artists are under the same publishing company.
Michael Gondry, acclaimed filmmaker and music video director for the likes of The Rolling Stones, Radiohead and The White Stripes has vision but the guy has to be blind by not being amazed by Lady Gaga. During a recent interview, the director basically slammed the pop princess by saying ?I?m not interested. To me it?s like a form of Marilyn Manson. It?s hard for me to talk about it; I?ve seen a couple of videos of hers, and not for very long. I stop watching them each time because I don?t think there?s melodies? And I don?t see it. Her melodies are very conventional. I remember when my friend and I would argue about Killing Joke. I remember him saying, ?It?s so great!? But I said, ?It?s so conventional! How can you find anything original? It?s just surface!? I don?t know, maybe the comparison is ridiculous. But the melody was very, very flat. That?s probably why they are famous. But maybe it?s considered high art just because of the way she dresses?? I?ll compare his next video to the best of the singer?s and we?ll see which is better.
After cancelling a private show in Brazil at the last minute, Guns N Roses had a big problem on their hands. The band was due to play in front of an exclusive crowd, which included supermodel Ana Beatriz Barros at the Sao Paulo club, but when it was announced that the concert had been cancelled, the crowd went nuts! A source said ?The audience got angry and started to mount the stage, and fight and destroy everything. It was wild. There were fights everywhere, on the dance floor, in the bathrooms, outside the club. Crazy. I guess the free drinks didn’t help.? I wonder if they have the balls to reschedule.
Justin Bieber is pretty much the king of the Twitter world as the pop star has consistently been in the top 140 most popular Twitter users and is almost always a trending topic on the micro blog site. The singer is also averaging 11,000 new followers daily and is poised to enter the Top 100 by next month. I wonder if he will be able to beat Ashton Kutcher and take the number one spot. Only time will tell if Justin can overthrow Ashton but I wouldn?t be surprised if he does. If you don?t know what I?m saying, try reading the stats again.
Kid Rock has to pay three guys who sued him over an alleged fight last year. The singer has to fork over $35,000 ? that isn?t at all bad considering that they originally demanded $15 million. The three men who filed the lawsuit last year claimed that the country rock star and three members of the Boo-Yaa Tribe hip hop group assaulted them outside of an LA hotel in 2006. The jury in the case reached the verdict and ordered Kid Rock to fork over the money for the three guys to split. It doesn?t sound so bad until you figure out that they weren?t awarded any attorneys fees which means that a nice chunk of that money, if not all, will be handed over to their lawyers.
It would probably sure help his career and his image a bit since all you hear about Justin Timberlake lately is that he parties hard in Las Vegas. It looks like the singer might actually make an appearance on the second season of the already popular series. Ryan Murphy, Glee?s creator, said the following on the matter: “Justin is the one the kids jump up and down about every day and beg me to meet with him. I’m a huge fan of his music. I think he’s so talented. And he’s a true triple threat: He can sing, dance, and act. So yeah, we’d love to have him on. We start shooting the second season in July and I think I will work some magic around that time for him if I can.” The way he describes him, Justin Timberlake is perfect for the series? they might actually consider making him a permanent member. It?s not like he?s doing anything else.
Now that Lil Wayne is finally serving his time in jail at New York?s Rikers Island prison on weapons charges, the rapper has been ordered to not sign autographs. He has been warned to avoid publicizing his celebrity and giving autographs to any of the other inmates. A representative of the Correction Officer?s Benevolent Association said ?Lil Wayne is not a celebrity in here.? It looks like the rapper is in for a rough time. Rikers has been known to not really treat their celebrity inmates any better than any other goon. And that?s good since he deserves it after all the lucky breaks he had.
It looks like Billy Corgan is ready to bring the Smashing Pumpkins back to life with a new line up and is holding open auditions for a new bassist and keyboard player. The band?s bassist, Ginger Pooley, quit last week to focus on her family and since the lead singer was successful in finding a new drummer last year through an audition process, he?s going to give it another go. Billy said ?We were lucky enough to find drummer Mike Byrne through an open audition process, so why not open the doors again to anyone who might be interested for the bass or keyboard position. As you can see from our past and present, age, race, or a person’s background is not an issue. Everyone is truly welcome to audition.? So who?s got what it takes?
