Jay-Z is following in the footsteps of Taylor Swift, Bon Jovi and Gwen Stefani as the rapper has filed a lawsuit against a tea house in Alabama claiming that the place was rocking his music without paying the price. The sting operation went down at a place in Mobile, Alabama called A Spot of Tea which turns into a nightclub called Club Insanity. According to the lawsuit, agents working for ASCAP, an enforcer of music royalties, observed the bar playing all sorts of music that they?re not allowed to pay, including ?Umbrella? by Rihanna and Jay-Z. Jay-Z, along with the publishers of the other songs played, wants the club to pay up.
OneRepublic recently performed an exclusive show at The Palms in Las Vegas for Walmart Soundcheck. The band rocked songs from their new album Waking Up, including their current single, “All The Right Moves.” The Colorado quintet also sat down for an intimate interview where they weigh in on critics, Coldplay and the story behind their sophomore release. Check out a preview of the footage and come back to Soundcheck on December 15th to see the full performance.
It seems that Eminem?s work was not all in vain. The artist has recently been declared the top-selling artist of the decade with 33.2 million copies of his albums sold worldwide. The best-sold album however went to The Beatles? hits compilation. Well, well? looks like Eminem might as well retire now. And he should?ve done himself a favor and taken that decision because his latest stuff really won?t make it on the top ten list? but hey, Eminem can dream, can?t he? But since he?ll get the job on American Idol, he will probably have less time to focus on his already dying musical career.
And given her reaction, it is amazing Miley Cyrus didn?t burst into flames with excitement. Apparently after she met Lady GaGa she posted the following on her official fanclub website: ?I met lady gaga!!!!!I met lady gaga!!!!!I met lady gaga!!!!!I met gaga!!!!!I met gaga!!!!!I met gaga!!!!!I met gaga!!!!!? And it goes on like that for about 30 or 40 more times. Apparently Miley Cyrus? message was posted through a black berry device? you have to wonder how long it actually took her to write it and if that time wouldn?t have better been spent talking to Lady GaGa? Oh well, perhaps next time Miley Cyrus? luck will still hold.
It seems the singer is so busy lately that she just can?t make enough time to release her new single and promote the upcoming movie ?Avatar?. A source said the following about Leona Lewis? reluctance: “Leona was delighted to be part of ‘Avatar’ but the song was never supposed to be released. But her cover of ‘Run’ wasn’t meant to be released either – and look how well that did.” Leona Lewis is probably working on her own first movie and probably can?t be bothered right now. All in due time? maybe Leona Lewis is on to something and knows that if she releases the single after the movie it will be even more of a hit.
It seems that the singer?s confessions with regards to her incident with Chris Brown have not yet ceased. Rihanna still has much more to tell? and among this information there is also the fact that she found peace while recording her new album. This is what Rihanna related on the matter: “I hid out for a while, but that just drove me crazy. I got cabin fever. I was ready to make music again. It was a hard time, but I found peace in the studio. I wanted something grimy. It was important to have familiar people in the studio, for there to be a comfort level, because of what I wanted to say.” Apparently, among the people Rihanna spent her time with in the studio were Justin Timberlake and Ne-Yo. Really? Must be why she felt so comfortable over there? and why the album isn?t really that great according to the general opinion.
After cancelling his Good Morning America spot, ABC also decided to cancel Adam Lambert?s appearance on Jimmy Kimmel and his performance on their New Year?s Eve special. The openly gay singer took to his Twitter account to spill the details. As always, the American Idol alum stays graceful and doesn?t place any blame. Adam wrote ?Yes, sadly friends, ABC has cancelled my appearances on Kimmel and NYE. don’t blame them. It’s the FCC heat. I AM doing Leno though. And lookin into something for NYE. It’ll all blow over. Let’s focus on being positive!? I think that he?s being too nice.
50 Cent stopped by The Tyra Show on the episode which aired this past Tuesday to talk about his new CD, book, movie and cologne. The 34-year old rapper shared what it was like to film a nude scene in his upcoming flick and revealed a wad of cash in his back pocket. The high roller said that he always carries around $25,000 in cash on him ?just in case something happens?. Something like what? An arrest that he may need to get bail for, maybe? He said ?I like to have cash on me because it feels like I have money.? Like his bank statements couldn?t tell him that!
Lady Gaga has sold over 1.5 million copies of her debut album ?The Fame? but is ineligible for the Best New Artist category at this year?s Grammy Awards due to her nomination for ?Just Dance? last year in the Best Dance Recording category. Jennifer Hudson also suffered a similar fate last year as she was snubbed for the Best New Artist category as she was previously nominated in the Outstanding Motion Picture Soundtrack Compilation category for ?Dreamgirls?. Now, Grammy president Neil Portnow is addressing the problem, saying ?This particular issue in the Best New Artist category is on our radar and I would expect changes to address it in next year’s voting.?
Susan Boyle?s neighbors are afraid of the worst as the singer has been acting strangely towards them. The Britain?s Got Talent contestant has allegedly been speaking in a strange accent, complaining that her cat doesn?t love her anymore and that she has been blasting tracks from her debut album ?I Dreamed a Dream? nearly 24/7. A neighbor also said that she?s seen two ambulances and a doctor come to the YouTube sensation?s house with Susan saying that she had been feeling pains in her stomach. Is Susan on the verge of suffering another breakdown? I sure hope not! Stay well Susan!
Beyonc? is on course for a bumper haul at the Grammys after receiving 10 nominations.
The sexy diva topped the list as the nominees were announced in Los Angeles on Wednesday night, ahead of country music starlet Taylor Swift with eight nominations and Lady GaGa with five.
Beyonc? is up for album of the year for I Am … Sasha Fierce, song of the year for her anthem Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It) and record of the year for Halo.
Swift and Lady GaGa are also nominated in the album, song and record of the year categories.
The Black Eyed Peas, singer Maxwell and rapper Kanye West – notorious for his behaviour at awards shows – have six nominations each.
The nominees were revealed at an event featuring live performances from acts including The Black Eyed Peas and Jonas Brother Nick Jonas’s solo project, Nick Jonas and the Administration.
The winners will be announced at the Grammys on January 31.
Rihanna appeared on the UK reality competition series X Factor this past Sunday night to belt out her latest single ?Russian Roulette?. On the show, the 21-year old Barbadian singer also shared that she will be going on tour in Spring 2010 and that tickets will be going on sale in just over a week. That?s definitely some exciting news! And it seems that Rihanna herself is excited about the whole thing as she said ?I can?t wait to come back here.? I?m sure all of her fans all over Europe are pretty excited about her coming back to wow everyone with her performances.
Perennial douche bag Pete Doherty has a gift for coming up with so many creative ways to be a dipshit. The rock singer was quite the surprise guest while performing solo at the on3 music festival in Munich this past weekend. Just when we hadn?t heard of anything bad from him in a while, the guy decided to sing a Nazi anthem in Germany. Pete sang the first verse of ?Deutschlandlied?, a part of the song that has not been sung since WWII. It translates to ?Germany, Germany above anything, above everything in the world.? The crowd began to boo but he sang five more songs before organizers escorted him off stage.

There?s a clip of a new song from Ke$ha called ?Blah Blah Blah? which features Sean Foreman and Nathaniel Motte of electronic music group 3OH!3. The song is being rumored to be the singer?s second single but her rep says that it has not yet been decided if it is. It?s a pretty hot song and I?m sure it?s going to do good on the charts if it does end up being her second single. I hope it is the new single and she makes a video for this soon. Mind you, Ke$ha?s first single ?TiK ToK? is on number 2 on iTunes right now.
Although Jennifer Lopez filed a $10 million lawsuit against her ex Ojani Noa, it may not be enough to keep her most private moments from going public. Ojani?s agent Ed Meyer states ?Jennifer Lopez does not want the home videos to be entered into the open court record, where the media and the public can get copies of them and watch or share them.? He entered the tapes in court this Monday. I?m not sure how well that will fare with the court order banning the videos from public eyes. Meyer even sent the Jennifer Lopez?s legal team an email detailing his plans.
While Adam Lambert was deemed too controversial to be part of Good Morning America?s concert series, Chris Brown apparently isn?t. Their priorities are definitely screwed up. The R&B singer, who pled guilty to assault against Rihanna, will do a taped tell-all interview with Robin Roberts over the incident, while the openly gay singer?s harmless kiss was too much for the public. Rightfully so, many gay activists and feminists are furious over the decision. A source at ABC said ?The network is giving a mixed message ? that it doesn’t trust someone who shocked with an unpredictable show and a gay kiss, but then it is happy to go ahead with Chris Brown, who was convicted of felony assault. Chris Brown’s interview was booked way before Adam Lambert took to the stage. It is to give him a chance to respond to Rihanna’s interview. The possibility of him performing a song will be worked out next week.?
In a recent interview with Seventeen magazine, Miley Cyrus talked about who she looks up to the most. The Disney star said that she really looks up to her fellow singer Beyonce. Miley said ?I want to be like Beyonce. She is the ultimate woman. You look at her and you don’t think, I wonder what her personal life is like. You look at her and you go, that girl on the stage is a superstar. You don’t care about anything else; you only care about her music. So I would hope that would be me in the future.? Considering the things that Miley does and what she wears, I highly doubt that it?s in her future.
Rihanna hit the airwaves on Thanksgiving evening on Fuse in a sit down interview with host Toure. The 21-year old Barbadian singer spoke about what she wanted to name her album, her style and finding flaws. On her album title, the beauty said ?I actually wanted to name my album, ?Such a F?ing Lady?, but a couple of stores, a couple of major outlets didn?t allow that? That was the title for a while, but ?Rated R? made more sense because of the overall story. It?s a movie really, the album. But Such a F?ing Lady? – we take everything back to that – especially in our style.?
The Muppets recently launched a viral parody of Queen?s classic ?Bohemian Rhapsody?. The launch of the viral video, which features over 40 of everyone?s favorite Muppets, coincides with the release of the legendary rock band?s new album on Hollywood Records. ?Bohemian Rhapsody?, along with other original Muppet viral videos, is featured on the Muppets? new YouTube channel MuppetsStudio. The video quality is amazing and is definitely a must watch! You would think that the video was from a serious band instead of a parody. Queen should be proud that they decided to do ?Bohemian Rhapsody?. I?ve been watching the video several times a day since it was released!
