Lady Gaga has a lot of money to her name so I doubt that it bothers her to spend over a thousand bucks just to buy pizza. It has been said that the singer ordered 80 cheese pizzas for her fans that were waiting in line for an album signing outside a Los Angeles Best Buy last week. She even went on her Twitter about it, saying “Sending all my little monsters little pizzas for waiting all night for me at best buy. I hope you’re hungry…eat up I love u!” Lady Gaga placed the order through a local Papa John’s and they said that the singer tipped “very, very well”.
The former member of The Beatles recently shared with all of us that deep down inside he’s still part of the good old band. This is what Paul McCartney said on the matter: “I still think I am in The Beatles – it is something you don’t want to lose. If I am doing songs from The Beatles, I remember the session when we recorded it. If I am doing ‘Something’ obviously I am thinking of George, and the memories of playing the ukulele. In a way you are revisiting them.” Well now, is Paul McCartney familiar with the concept of “memories”? The moment he starts forgetting those times will be the moment when he should seriously think about a forced retirement because he’s probably not going to be too much of a musician after that either.
It had to happen sooner or later, right? While getting an order at Pop Burger, when she was asked for her name to be put on the order, Miley Cyrus became a bit snappy with the counter worker saying: “Are you serious? You don’t recognize me? I’m Miley Cyrus.” His answer probably didn’t make things much better: “That’s nice for you. Here is your order. Have a good day.” You have to hand it to the guy… he played it really cool. Miley Cyrus on the other hand seems to be on a downward slope toward never-ever land… somebody better stop her sleigh.
Tokio Hotel took home the award for Best Group earlier this month at MTV’s European Music Awards where they also gave an electrifying performance of “World Behind My Wall.” This guitar-charged ballad is their new, official focus track in the US and follows “Automatic” as the second single off of Humanoid. Listen to “World Behind My Wall” here.
It’s a busy week for the band as their song “Human Connect To Human” is now featured in the brand new Verizon Droid commercial. Check out the sci-fi themed spot to see Tokio Hotel’s very fitting integration into the campaign.
US rocker Travis Barker said he is ‘thankful’ to have known his late pal DJ AM this Thanksgiving.
The 34-year-old drummer was good friends with DJ AM, full name Adam Goldstein, who died in August this year after suffering an accidental drug overdose.
The pair escaped death in a plane crash in September 2008, in which two members of their crew and two other passengers lost their lives.
He wrote on his Twitter page: “Excited 2 be alive and healthy. Thankful 2 have known DJAM, Chris & Che. Thankful 4 everything & everybody in my life. Happy Thanksgiving.”
Barker is also referring to Chris Barker and Charles ‘Che’ Still, who were two of the plane crash victims last year.
Sir Paul McCartney says he makes contact with those once dearest to him in music and in life whenever he performs.
“I’m sort of thinking about George,” he said of the late Beatle George Harrison. He went on to mention his late wife Linda and great collaborator John Lennon, when he said: “And similarly with John and Linda. In a way you’re kind of in contact with them again, you know. And it’s sad. It’s emotional.”
The ex-Beatle was in London to promote a new album and DVD. He was in a pub when he said:
“It’s a good thing to do. I couldn’t have done it when I was 18 because I would not have allowed myself to cry or go anywhere near that. Now it’s OK. I’m used to it.”
Sir Paul’s new song, Here Today, was written with Lennon in mind. He said: “It catches me out in this film version (of the song) where I realise I’m telling this man that I love him. I’m publicly declaring this in front of all these people I don’t know.”
His new album will be released in the UK on December 7.
Alice in Chains are currently being featured on Yahoo Music’s Maximum Performance! The band stopped by the Yahoo studios to perform an acoustic set featuring songs off the new record Black Gives Way To Blue. The band rocked through amazing acoustic renditions of their new hit single “Check My Brain”, “Black Gives Way To Blue”, and “Your Decision”. The band also sat down with Yahoo for an exclusive video interview, where the band talks about life after Layne, and their amazing re-birth with new singer William DuVall.
Adam Lambert attempted his way up a set of stairs before he tumbled on stage while performing his new single ‘For Your Entertainment’ at the 2009 American Music Awards at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles this past Sunday. That would make the singer the second person to tumble on the stage. The first was Jennifer Lopez during her performance of ‘Louboutins’. The 27-year old American Idol alum recovered very well, tucking and rolling into his next position. Overall, Adam, who closed the show, gave a very provocative performance. And I’m sure a lot of people have some words to say about that.
Rihanna performed at the first ever concert on Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas cruise ship last week in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The ship is world’s largest cruise ship and cost $1.5 billion to build. It’s five times bigger than the Titanic and accommodates 6300 passengers. The concert was the first to promote the Barbadian singer’s new album ‘Rated R’ which is already out in stores. I wonder how the passengers felt about her music. I hope no one thought that they were getting a second class performance because of the mediocre songs. I hope she performed her bigger hits. Rihanna looked hot though!
It’s not like 50 Cent needs anymore money but it turns out that the rapper and multi-millionaire has written a new movie. The rapper turned actor has actually signed a deal recently with producer Richard Jackson to make three of his screenplays into movies. According to 50, “When you write a song, you need to say it in three minutes or it is overkill, but I like creating stories and going in depth with characters.” The first movie is set to start production next month and will actually star the rapper and Val Kilmer. The film deals with 50 and Val in the world of illegal weapons dealing and is appropriately called ‘The Gun’.
One of Miley Cyrus’ tour buses was part of a deadly crash that took place on Friday about 45 minutes south of Richmond, Virginia. The buses were on the way to Greensboro, North Carolina for a show this past Sunday when one of the 4 vehicles in the singer’s convoy drifted off the road and overturned. One person, the bus driver, died, while 9 others sustained minor injuries. State police said that the roads were wet from rain the night before but were not to blame for the crash. An investigation went on to determine why the bus drifted. Early reports are saying that the driver suffered a cardiac arrest while driving. Mind you, Miley’s concert in North Carolina went on as planned.
Michael Jackson and Taylor Swift were the big winners at tonight’s American Music Awards, with Swift narrowly beating The King of Pop in the trophy stakes.
Nineteen-year-old Swift picked up five awards, including Artist of the Year, while Jackson was recognised posthumously in four categories.
Jackson’s awards included Favourite Pop/Rock Artist and Pop/Rock Album for his 2003 album, Number 1s, bringing his total number of AMAs to 25. His brother Jermaine accepted the awards on his behalf.
Swift accepted her awards from London where she is currently on tour and paid tribute to Jackson in her speech.
“I just want to say that music has never been ultimately about competition and to even be mentioned in a category with Michael Jackson who we’ll miss and love forever is an unimaginable honour,” she said. “And I just want to say I’m sending my love to the Jackson family and Janet.”
Michael’s sister Janet kicked off the show with a medley of her hits, and Whitney Houston performed I Didn’t Know My Own Strength, while Jennifer Lopez took an on-stage tumble while performing.
Never one to shrink from the limelight, Lady GaGa gave a typically outrageous performance. Wearing a flesh-coloured bodysuit covered in white flashing piping she used her microphone to smash open a glass box with a piano inside before smashing glass bottles on stage throughout her performance while violinists wearing gas masks played beside her.
Rihanna gave her first solo performance since her domestic dispute with Chris Brown and appeared on stage in a sexy cutout catsuit shackled to a gurney in a mad scientist’s laboratory to perform Hard and Wait Your Turn from her latest album, while Shakira performed her new single Give It Up to Me.
The Black Eyed Peas, Jay-Z, Green Day and Beyonce all went home with awards over the course of the evening.
Taylor Swift has one of the most personable and relatable attitudes in the music industry. That’s why it shouldn’t be a surprise that you’ll soon be able to find her in the greeting card aisle. The 19-year old country singer has partnered with American Greetings to create a line of greeting cards, gift packaging, stationery, online photo personalization products and online greetings. Taylor said “My idea of a great song is a song that says how I feel better than I could. I feel the same way about greeting cards. I’ve always been fascinated by feelings and how we express them to each other. Getting to write and design these cards is a wonderful experience.” Her line of cards will be available on Spring 2010.
Adam Lambert recently had an interview with TV Guide where he talked about what’s next for him. The American Idol alum said “I heard they’re trying to do a remake of ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ and I want to play Judas. I’m going to start publicly campaigning for it. I think a movie would be really cool!” Well the singer has said that he would want to become an actor somewhere down the line of his career. I guess this would be the perfect opportunity as he also has some background on Broadway. However, I still think he should focus on his music career.
Former Oasis star Liam Gallagher has said he is recording material with the remaining members of the band – but not with his brother Noel.
The Brit Pop band’s future was left in jeopardy when Noel, 42, quit in August saying Liam’s behaviour was behind his departure.
However, in a video interview with MTV Italy, Liam said he is recording music with the ex-Oasis members Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Zak Starkey.
He said: “We’ve been demo-ing some songs that we’ve had on the quiet. After Christmas we might go in the studio and record it and hopefully have an album out in July.”
He added: “We’ll do it in a different kind of way now. I’ll try and reconnect with a new band, new songs and I’m feeling confident about the songs.
“I’m feeling a million per cent confident that they could be better than Oasis.”
Talking about his frosty relationship with his brother, he said: “I love him to bits but we just don’t get on. Me and our kid have never been that close anyway.
“All right, we were in the band, but we kept ourselves to each other, he’d do his thing and I’d do my thing.”
After a huge row, Simon Cowell has given in to X-Factor contestant Danyl Johnson and allowed him to change his song for the upcoming weekend show.
Danyl, a drama teacher, lost it with Cowell, running outside and down the street when the star judge chose a George Michael ballad, Praying for Time, amid reports Jedward was polishing up a sassy Wham! medley.
Cowell has now agreed he can perform Michael’s classic Careless Whisper.
Michael, meanwhile, is rumoured to be making a surprise appearance on the Saturday night show.
Cowell played down the row with Danyl, saying it was nothing more than a “storm in a tea cup”.
He said: “The frustration got to him and he boiled over but when we talked it through he was as good as gold. It was always going to be one of those two songs and it turns out Danyl had set his heart on the other one. Danyl is now going to sing Careless Whisper on Saturday and it is an incredible version. We love it.”
Robbie Williams has decided that he will no longer have any concert tours because of the terrible side effects he has endured because of them. The singer admits that he ends up in rehab or fat after every tour so now, he’s scrapping it altogether. Here’s a crazy idea – maybe you could use some of your millions to hire a touring trainer and actually pay attention long enough in rehab so you won’t have to go back. That way, you can avoid all these issues and be able to keep your career afloat. That’s just a thought though. But if he’s hell bent on not touring anymore, at the very least, there’s less chance for us to hear him botch his own songs.
Due to some stupid rule, Lady Gaga is ineligible to be nominated for the Grammy’s Best New Artist when it’s pretty clear that she is the best new artist of the year. The reason is that the princess of pop was nominated for ‘Just Dance’ last year in the dance recording category rendering her unable to be nominated under the Best New Artist category this year by Grammy regulations. Oh well. The singer has had multiple singles reach the top spot off of her debut album ‘The Fame’ which has sold over 1.53 million copies. Those facts are much greater than a Grammy statue!
Rihanna rocked the house at the launch party for the Nokia X6 in London. Her concert was also broadcast online by Nokia on Monday. The 20-year old Barbadian singer previewed songs from her upcoming album ‘Rated R’, including ‘Mad House’, ‘Wait Your Turn’, ‘Russian Roulette’ and ‘Hard’ with special guest Young Jeezy. The beautiful pop star also played her past hits, including ‘Disturbia’, ‘Take a Bow’ and ‘Live Your Life’ mixed with ‘Run This Town’, when Jay-Z came out as a surprise. The crowd went wild at that. Rihanna’s album will hit the stores this Monday, November 23. Will you be buying it?
Michael Jackson’s homicide investigation is taking longer than expected. One law enforcement source connected with the case said “We’ve had bad luck with big cases like OJ in the past, and we don’t want to repeat those mistakes.” The source also spoke of the Robert Blake case, which some experts believe was also botched. The source added “There is not a problem with the case. Time is on our side. We want to do this right.” Authorities want to make sure that no other pharmacies apart from Applied Pharmacy in Las Vegas sent Propofol to Dr. Conrad Murray. While everyone is hoping to end the investigation before the Christmas holidays, it could get pushed to January.
A rabid male fan crashed the stage at a Jonas Brothers concert this past weekend in Madrid. I never knew they actually had male fans, but anyway. Unlike Britney Spears who infamously screamed when the same thing happened to her at one of her gigs, the band of cuties just kept on playing. It was a pretty hilarious sight. The guys were still playing and singing their little hearts out while the fan was running around in circles trying to get away from security and ripping his shirt off. There’s yet another story that they can tell the grandkids – not!
Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and the LA Lakers are getting sued by a company that claims that they all used knockoffs of their big screen in concert. Large Audience Display Systems says in a federal lawsuit filed in Texas that the concerts in question used a large audience display screen that was identical to their patented gigantic monitors. Britney uses the screen on her Circus tour. Justin used the monitors on his FutureSex/LoveShow tour and the Lakers use them for the games. The Pussycat Dolls were also involved in the lawsuit. The company wants an injunction prohibiting the defendants from using the knockoffs in the future as well as unspecified damages.
Rapper 50 Cent has launched his own tough times stimulus plan for single mothers.
He asked them to enter an essay contest, 50’s Money For Moms, for which three grand prizes of $10,000 each will be awarded.
50 Cent’s record company, Interscope Records, said in a statement: “During the next week, 50 Cent will not only be on television, on the internet, and at a pair of retail stores promoting his new Before I Self Destruct album and film, but he’ll also be playing Santa this holiday season.”
The company explained: “Amidst tough economic times, 50 Cent is implementing his own stimulus package, specifically to help single mothers. For 50’s Money For Moms contest in conjunction with BET, entrants must explain in 200 words or less why she – or a single mother the writer knows – deserves to win one of three grand prizes of $10,000 each from 50 Cent.”
It seems that the esteemed rapper and highly respected business man has taken it upon himself to help Cheryl Cole make her way through the bumpy road that is the American music industry. Apparently, Cheryl Cole is very thrilled to have Jay-Z helping her out as a source relates: “Cheryl is the biggest fan of Jay-Z and Beyonce. To hear the feeling is mutual has totally made her year. She never imagined her album would have taken off like this. To get Jay-Z’s support is beyond her wildest dreams.” Looks like Cheryl Cole is really starting off on the right foot in America… after all, who better to make a name for you in the music industry then a well established rapper, eh?
Chris Brown has a new music video featuring R&B singer Cassie called for their single ‘Crawl’. The music video director, Joseph Kahn, talked about it with MTV, saying “The entire video for ‘Crawl’ was his idea. I’m talking every single idea in there is Chris’, and it’s pretty awesome. It’s an interesting video for me, because it’s so rare that music videos ever try to achieve anything emotional. With ‘Crawl’ you feel it in here [points to his heart]. Chris just basically told me a story of what he felt this video was going to be, with his heart glowing and how he’s, like, cold. It is a very personal story. But it’s told in such a graphic manner that I fell in love with the idea. It’s Chris’ story. Period. I am the pencil that put it down on the paper.”
Although Timbaland has a lot of major contributors to his new album ‘Shock Value II’, the producer was surprisingly taken with Miley Cyrus. He said “Man, she’s gonna be like Justin [Timberlake]. She comes from that same musical background, where she’s just got it. Her voice is just there. The best way to put it is she’s special. When I worked with her, I was very impressed. I was like, ‘Whoa.’” I know how the Disney star is coming off as some sort of sensation but I doubt that Miley’s going to achieve the same thing that Justin has. And considering what the pop/R&B singer has done with his career, I doubt anyone would want to be compared to the guy.
The first-ever items to be auctioned off by Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler – including his boxer shorts – have been revealed.
The legendary rocker has donated clothing and memorabilia to raise money for the MusiCares MAP fund, which helps musicians in their recovery from addictions.
The items to be auctioned off in New York include a Betsey Johnson pinstripe black suit, which is expected to sell for $600, and a Helen David English Eccentrics shirt, which is expected to fetch $800.
Two pairs of Tyler’s boxer shorts, one reading Light My Fire, are also going under the hammer and are expected to sell for more than $200.
Also up for auction on 21 November are signed guitars belonging to Ronnie Wood and Paul McCartney, and guitars hand-painted by Carly Simon, David Lee Roth and others.
Demi Lovato has a new music video out for her song ‘Remember December’. The 17-year old singer recently spoke to MTV about it, saying “The music video relates to the song in a way that a girl has so much to say to the guy, and it feels like he’s not listening, and she wants him to remember everything that they had. And so instead of having a love interest in this video, it’s all about being fierce and kind of, like, taking control as a girl. It’s like girl empowerment. Yeah, divas!” Or it can just be the Disney star’s way of saying that she doesn’t need a man in her life.
As time passes, more and more people are trying to cash in on Michael Jackson’s death. You can add another one to that list. The original marriage certificate which was issued to the King of Pop and Lisa Marie Presley, from when they were married in the Dominican Republic in 1994, is going up for auction in January. Phillip Weiss, who is auctioning off the paper, says “when you have an item that combines his name and legend with the Presley name and legend, their marriage certificate no less, with both of their signatures on it, you’ve got something that’s almost impossible to predict what it will bring at auction.” He’s got a valid point.
