Rocker Pete Wentz has a new tattoo – a portrait of a musician pal on his leg after he lost a bet.
The Fall Out Boy bassist got the tat of Cobra Starship star Gabe Saporta’s face to honour a “gentleman’s bet”.
Gabe posted the snap of Pete displaying his new body art on his Twitter page.
Pete Tweeted on his page: “My head hurts.”
“i was buzzed lightyear last night. followed thru on a gentlemens bet w/@gabrielsaporta now i have 1 more bad tattoo.”
The tattoo reads: “Gabey baby made me go bad,” a reference to Cobra Starship’s hit song Good Girls Go Bad, featuring Gossip Girl beauty Leighton Meester.
It seems that Brandon Flowers has found an interesting way to promote The Killers’ performances. The show they did at the Royal Albert Hall will be playing in theatres this November. Since when do concerts get to be played as movies? Is The Killers’ fan base that spread out that they couldn’t make the show so they have to play it in theatres? Aren’t the usual DVD’s and whatnot working any more for the fans? Have people become bored of their home cinemas? But hey, maybe if it’s in 3-D… then we’re talking! Then it would probably be worth spending money to see a recording of The Killers playing.
If you missed watching U2’s live concert on YouTube, there’s another chance for you to see them for free in Berlin. Bono and the rest of the band will be belting out their music at no cost on November 5th to celebrate the 20 years since the falling of the Berlin Wall, which ended separation between east and west Germany. I thought that they were looking to get some profits off of their concerts. Why the heck to they keep doing free gigs? Oh well, it’s not like they need the money anyway. I’m sure a lot of their fans are enjoying all the freebies.
According to a recent online poll, Miley Cyrus is considered to be the worst celebrity influence of 2009. I could have told you that without the poll. The singer managed to rack up a whopping 42% of the votes for that category, edging out Britney Spears and Kanye West. Considering the recent happenings regarding the rapper, you know it’s bad when you’re voted to be worse than he is. Sources are chalking it up to the fact that she’s seeking a career separate from Disney and her alter-ego Hannah Montana. It really sounds like Miley is heading down the same path that Britney did.
The woman accused of stalking Justin Timberlake has also once stalked Guns N Roses lead singer Axl Rose. But the two singers aren’t her only victims. Alleged stalker Karen McNeil has also been banned from getting anywhere close to the members of Metallica, when the band got a restraining order against her back in March. The documents were filed in LA County Superior Court by drummer Lars Ulrich, who requested that the crazy woman stay at least 150 yards away from all members of the band, their families and the people who run the Metallica fan club. Talk about being a professional stalker!
Josh Groban made a memorable, albeit brief, appearance on ‘Glee’ this season, but according to the singer, we haven’t seen the last of him on the musical TV show. Josh has confirmed that he will be returning to the series before the season is out, saying “I think I’m going to come back and do one more episode. And we’ll see what happens.” He admits that he’s eager to return because he loves to do comedy and he loved working with the cast, sharing “I had a great time with that cast, coming from a theater background. It’s so nice to see so many theater actors being hired for mainstream television. And also, being a member of the choir club as a kid, just to see that group of people being represented in mainstream culture is really, really so great.”
There are rumors going around that producers at Saturday Night Live are working overtime to book a surprise cameo by Kanye West when Taylor Swift hosts the comedy show in November. Sources are saying that the plan is highly likely to take place. I think that the country singer would have a very good sense of humor about the whole VMA thing after all this time that had passed and it could prove to be a great career move for the rapper who I’m sure has had his fair share of the backlash from his douche bag actions last month.
Director Kenny Ortega has recalled his memories of the last time he spoke to pal Michael Jackson before his death.
Ortega, 59, was working on preparations for Jackson’s This Is It shows in London when the star tragically died from a heart attack.
Talking about their final meeting, he said to the UK’s The Times Magazine: “He said: ‘I’ll see you tomorrow. That’s exactly what he said to me. Then he left, with a big smile on his face, waving goodbye to everybody.
“One of our movie producers ran over to thank Michael for the work we had done that night to finish the films.
“He came running back to me and said: ‘You won’t believe what Michael just said to me: ‘Make sure those ghosts come through the screen!’”
He added: “It was just funny, because with all the 3-D stuff, Michael was always insistent: ‘Make sure everything’s coming out at the audience so they’re ducking out of the way of it.’ The fan’s wouldn’t have known what hit them.”
Ortega worked on new movie This Is It, which recently had its world premiere, which shows footage of Jackson working on preparations for the shows.
The rapper recently shared one more of those pieces of info of which you wonder about getting him into legal trouble or not. It seems 50 Cent was a drug dealer back when he was twelve years old… but wait, that’s not all of it! 50 Cent explained why he was forced to get into such a dangerous line of work: “I sold drugs and I was in a situation where there weren’t many options available to me – I was so young that working wasn’t an option so that’s when I was dealing, when I was 12.” That’s really cute, but shouldn’t he have kept that to himself? He can afford to lose “a few million” in a recession now, why should he share his childhood drama? Where’s the gain… except for some serious legal issues.

The woman accused of stalking Justin Timberlake has a Guns N Roses connection. Apparently, a judge had already banned the woman from getting near the band’s lead singer Axl Rose. Karen McNeil, who Justin calls an “obsessed mentally unstable celebrity stalker”, was already sentenced to a year in jail after repeatedly disobeying a court order banning her from coming within 300 yards of Axl’s property. At the time, she told officials that she was Axl’s wife and communicated with him telepathically. Say what? The hounding didn’t stop with jail time though as the woman reportedly continued to send Axl letters from behind bars. Crazy!
With talks of a tour and musical, all that’s left for the Spice Girls is some TV work and it looks like they’re heading that was too. According to reports, the members of the band are planning a reality/talent show to find versions of themselves for the Spice Girls musical. The band’s former manager and mastermind and owner of the Idol shows, Simon Fuller, is helping with the idea. A source said “It’s a fantastic new way to broaden out the Spice franchise and cash in on their personalities, their story and their songs. The girls would have to work intensely on a TV show for a short period of time. But they then launch a musical which could run for months or even years. It will take on a life of its own. The concept could even be replicated in other countries. The sky is the limit with this one.”
Famed musicians, including REM and Pearl Jam, have filed a series of Freedom of Information requests, asking the government to declassify documents that would reveal which artists’ catalogs were used in several prisons and military detention centers, including Guantanamo Bay. The music may have been used in controversial interrogation methods in which detainees are forced to listen to music at extreme levels for hours on end. The requests were filed by Close Gitmo Now, an organization aimed at pressuring Congress to support President Obama’s intentions to close Guantanamo Bay prison. Their allegations are based off the testimony of former prisoners and guards that identified music from artists like Britney Spears to AC/DC to the Sesame Street theme song.
Look what the cat dragged in. It seems that Black Eyed Peas member Will.i.am is not as original an artist as he might boast himself to be. A singer and producer by the name of FrankMusik has recently accused Will.i.am of stealing his music. Of course, the man did it on twitter, because let’s face it, that’s the place where we report copyright infringements… and he also has such an elegant way of expressing himself: “OK SO Cheryl Cole ft Will.i.am – Boy Like You IS A COMPLETE RIP OFF OF A TRACK I DID FOUND HERE!” Well, maybe somebody would have taken this seriously in other circumstances, but on twitter, fat chance! Looks like Will.i.am is free to expand his musical horizons even further.
The Beatles haven’t been making teenage girls cry for a long while now so video game companies are the newest ones to shed a tear for the band as they can’t boost lowly video game sales. ‘The Beatles: Rock Band’ only managed to sell 595,000 copies last month. You make think that it’s not too shabby but it is considering that it was expected to sell over a million units. Analyst Jesse Divnich of Electronic Entertainment Design and Research said “The Beatles performed at a respectable level. I have no doubts we will see a resurgence in sales during the holiday months.”
Chris Brown is going to debut his first music video for ‘I Can Transform Ya’ since that whole Rihanna assault earlier this year. The video was directed by Joseph Kahn and also features producer Swizz Beatz and rapper Lil Wayne. The 21-year old R&B singer wrote about making his comeback on his blog, saying “The expectations of me by people are far more greater than what I think I’m capable of. God give me strength. If I couldn’t dream, would I believe that there could be a you and me. And if I couldn’t sing would you be able to hear my melody.”
Rihanna recently premiered a new song, ‘Russian Roulette’, via her official website. What can I say? I love Rihanna but I am absolutely shocked and disappointed that the singer came out with a dud. I blame Ne-Yo for writing and producing such a mediocre song for the Barbadian babe but I still blame Rihanna for having approved of it being her first single. The song sounds like it should have been on the B-side of her last album. It’s definitely not something to go all crazy about even though it’s been highly anticipated because of what went down in Rihanna’s personal life. The song and production are both seriously lacking.
California, US: U2 have confirmed via video blog that their sold-out concert at the Pasadena Rose Bowl in California, Sunday 25th October 2009 will be streamed free, in full and live on YouTube. It’s the first time a show of this size will be streamed live.
The Rose Bowl show is the penultimate U2 show this year – with more to come in 2010 – and already is set to host the venue’s biggest ever audience of over 96, 000 fans. The 360˚ Tour, which has been critically acclaimed and “re-invents rock’n’roll”*, will now boast unique access for fans worldwide – as fans in territories yet to be visited by the tour, or not at all, will be able to enjoy the whole show online. Managed in partnership with Live Nation, this sell-out tour has broken attendance records in most venues it has visited – its success due in part to increased capacity coupled with a lower ticket price and great sight lines afforded by the stunning in-the-round stage set. Visit U2.com or youtube.com/u2official for details of how to join in this ground-breaking on-line event.
U2 manager Paul McGuinness said – “The band has wanted to do something like this for a long time. As we’re filming the LA show, it’s the perfect opportunity to extend the party beyond the stadium. Fans often travel long distances to come to see U2 – this time U2 can go to them, globally.”
YouTube will be streaming live across five continents. The show will be available in the usual You Tube way, as video-on-demand, following two full replays – after the live stream – on both U2.com and You Tube.
“YouTube is thrilled to be able to provide our global audience with a live streaming performance from one of the world’s greatest bands” – Chris Maxcy, Director of YouTube Partner Development. “We are always looking for new ways to connect fans around the world with their favourite artists, and this is the perfect opportunity to do just that.”
On November 2 at 11 p.m. ET, Fuse, the national music network, will televise the worldwide premiere of Nirvana Live at Reading, the band’s legendary, never-before-released 1992 Reading concert. The show, marking the first time that Nirvana fans will experience the epochal August 30, 1992 headlining appearance at UK’s Reading Festival, will debut as an hour long broadcast the night before the limited edition 90 minute CD+DVD Deluxe Edition is by Geffen/UMe.
Featuring 25 songs including “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” “All Apologies” and “Come As You Are,” Nirvana’s performance at Reading ranked No. 1 in Kerrang Magazine’s “100 Gigs That Shook The World” chart and was voted as “Nirvana’s No. 1 Greatest Moment” by fans in a recent NME poll.
“Fuse is excited to provide Nirvana fans with the first opportunity to witness this historic music event since the concert 17 years ago,” said David Weier, vice president, programming, Fuse. “Not only are we airing a highly anticipated, never-before-seen concert in more than 65 million homes, we are providing Nirvana’s loyal fan base with companion programming for a comprehensive and unique viewing experience.”
Leading up to the premiere of Nirvana Live at Reading, Fuse will air “Loaded: Nirvana,” a half-hour of Nirvana’s greatest music videos at 10 p.m. ET, followed by “Videos That Rocked the World: Smells Like Teen Spirit,” a celebration of the legendary music video which was a breakthrough for music, entertainment, culture and society.
While the show’s centerpiece was a performance of nearly the entire Nevermind tracklist, also noteworthy were early performances of three as yet unrecorded songs which wouldn’t be released until 2 years later on In Utero: “All Apologies,” “Dumb,” and in its first ever public performance, “Tourettes.” The career-spanning setlist also reached back to the band’s 1989 Sub Pop debut album, Bleach, for “Blew,” “About A Girl,” “School,” “Negative Creep” and first single “Love Buzz,” and even further back to the mid-’80s for “Spank Thru.” Other songs from the Reading set would appear in studio form on the Incesticide compilation later in the year: “Aneurysm,” “Been A Son” and “Sliver.” Additionally, the band played a pair of beloved covers by two bands that helped shape the formative Nirvana sound– “The Money Will Roll Right In” by Fang and “D-7″ by The Wipers.
