Conan O?Brien will soon be taking over for Jay Leno on the Tonight Show. The ginger headed talk show host scored a big musical act for his last Late Night show on February 20th, in the form of the White Stripes. The show favorite with be playing their first live performance since the summer of 2007 on Conan?s last New York City gig. Back in 2003, the brother and sister duo performed on the show for an entire week. I?m sure Meg and Jack will have something very special lined up for the funny host. Set your DVRs for the event.
Chris Brown may be in the middle of the storm but he can always rely on his family to stand by him in any weather. Chris figured in a nasty domestic violence accusation which prevented him from appearing in last Sunday’s Grammy. Reports were sketchy but what is confirmed is that Brown was booked but released by the police later after posting bail. But after that incident no one could find the 19-year old singer and this led to speculations as to his whereabouts.
Now, his family is speaking up for him with his dad Clinton Brown saying Chris is home and that he spoke to him last Thursday. The elder Brown, who is a corrections officer, said Chris needed sometime to gather his thoughts and regroup. Rumors that Chris spent a night at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas in Las Vegas were indeed true after which he went on to see his mother Joyce Hawkins. Chris is remorseful, his father said, and just wants to make sure that Rihanna is okay. The 20-year old Rihanna, on the other hand, was released Monday from the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
This year?s Grammys may be laden with issues but the viewership saw an improvement of 10% as compared from last year. A healthy 19 million people tuned in. I guess the diverse line up and hard marketing push did some good for this year?s show. In a statement, a CBS exec said ?It was a broadcast with something for every generation and, importantly, it was supported by a marketing campaign for every platform.? According to reports, everything from a Katie Couric prime time special earlier last week to a marketing push on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter were used to get the message out.

Questo from the Roots was at an LA Grammy party this past weekend where Radiohead performed. It looks like the band?s front man was having lots of fun up on stage as Questo was quoted in saying ?haaaaaaaa! thom yorke is jammin! he dancin like a muppet on acid. i love it. how he got more soul than 10 of post modern rnb artists?? If that was the case, I bet everyone at that party had just as much fun as those two rockers. Radiohead performed at the 2009 Annual Grammy Awards the next night with the USC marching band.

The Grammy was more than exciting; it was like a reality show. So now that you know what happened to Rihanna, Chris Brown and Usher–all of whom did not make it as Grammy performers for one reason or another, here’s one tidbit that would also be of interest. Here’s one celebrity who made it to the Grammy come hell and high water. Travis Barker did not want to miss the Grammy night that he went anyway despite having his arm on a sling. Barker just had surgery after his arms suffered injuries due to last September’s plane crash which killed four people.
Barker, who came with ex-wife Shanna Moakler, said he literally jumped out of his hospital bed numb hand and all just to be at the Grammy. He is suffering from bad nerve damage which explains the surgery and supposedly the 8 to 10 weeks recovery period. The Blink 182 drummer suffered second and third degree burns due the plane crash. He is set for a couple more surgeries in the near future.
In an interview where he admitted to having fantasies about beating up their drummer, The Killers lead singer, Brandon Flowers, also admitted to a strange fear he had as a child which has spawned a bit of a discrimination technique today: he does not like bearded men because he used to be afraid of them as a child. He said: I have no idea where the fear came from. Maybe from thinking they were trying to hide themselves. When I was six or seven years old, if I saw a man with a beard I’d cling to my mother. I was just convinced they were going to take me away.” I want you to look at the picture and ask yourself a logical question: but wait, doesn?t Brandon Flowers have a beard? Or by bearded men does he mean the sailor-like bearded men who haven?t shaved since they left home at 16? Still it is a strange little irony.
Jennifer Hudson is officially back and she?s back with a vengeance. It?s game on for the Grammy winner as she is about to head out on her first solo tour. The former American Idol contestant and actress will be joined by the smooth Robin Thicke for a 5-week co-headlining stint. The tour will kick off on April 2nd in Philadelphia and wrap up in Houston on May 8th. Jennifer commented on the announcement saying ?I am so grateful ? my first Grammy and my first tour. It doesn’t get better than that.? Once that tour?s over, maybe she can tour with Jamie Foxx. He did offer her a co-headlining tour with him, albeit unofficially.

?Get On Your Boots? has been directed by French film maker and artist Alex Courtes. Alex and former creative partner Martin Fougeral directed the Grammy winning video for ?Vertigo?, and also directed the video for ?City of Blinding Lights?.
The video was shot in London and features the band performing against complex graphic art designed by Courtes.
Speaking of the song and the video, The Edge has said, ?It’s based around the idea that men have f**ked things up so badly, politically, economically and socially, that it’s really time we handed things over to women. The finished video is brilliant. He’s really nailed it.”
?Get On Your Boots? is the first single from U2′s 12th studio album No Line On The Horizon, out 2nd March 2009.

Next to Jennifer Aniston, his two Grammys may well be John Mayer’s most precious possessions these days. Or is it the other way around and his two Grammy Awards his gift to girlfriend Aniston who just celebrated her 40th birthday? Whichever way it goes, John Mayer is now a certified Grammy winner. Mayer won over music greats Kid Rock and Paul McCartney for the 2009 Grammy’s best male pop vocal performance for “Say”. He also won over Neil Young for the Grammy’s best solo rock vocal performance award for “Gravity”.
Mayer had his pre-Grammy night full at Aniston birthday bash which was held at her Beverly Hills home. The two were unmindful of the guests, mostly close friends anyway, and danced and huddled the night away. Among the birthday girl’s guests were Courteney Cox and husband David Arquette, Sheryl Crow, Tobey Maguire and wife Jen, Oprah Winfrey, Kevin Nealon, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson and Sheryl Crow.
Jessica Simpson walked off the stage in tears right in front of fans that after a series of onstage blunders at a concert in Michigan on February 6. When she could no disguise her mistakes no longer she thought it would be better if she just got off the stage.
Standing at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan the singer was opening for Rascal Flatts but during her entire 38 minute stay of the stage was filled with repeated errors and the reason behind the mess is believe to be her in-ear audio monitors causing her to forget her lyrics positions on the stages.
Really that would have been a day she would like to forget in a hurry, would been so embarrassing for a singer and performer of her stature to have an off day like this.
We all have bad days. Perhaps all the press heat with regard to Jessica’s weight gain is taking a toll on her. My advice, just pick up yourself, and dust yourself off!
American Idol has even more shadiness going on. In a previous post, several showbiz failures were exposed as being part of the show this season. Star magazine has uncovered more stuff about those contestants that will make Idol purists? blood boil. Apart from once starring in Broadway show and once having a major record deal, Joanna Pacitti has very close ties to two Idol folks. A snitch told the mage that suits Michelle Young and Roger Widynowski associated with the show have personal connections to Joanna. The 3 of them even lived in the same LA apartment complex for several years. Joanna even refers to Michelle as her manager and best friend, and credits Roger with ?helping me get where I am today.?

Back in December, music man Joe Satriani is alleging that Coldplay?s ?Viva La Vida? is a rip off of his song ?I Just Wanna Fly?. The iconic guitarist asserts that the band has dodged being served his plagiarism lawsuit but hopes that it won?t be the case much longer. He and his lawyer are planning to fill the Grammys with servers ready to pounce on Coldplay. The lawyer representing Joe said ?We have warned their British lawyers that we have hired a fleet of process servers lined up to dog the band everywhere they go this weekend in the hopes of serving them.?
Bruce Springsteen recently opened up to Bob Costas as to why he decided to perform at this past Sunday?s Super Bowl after repeatedly turning down past invites. The rocker bluntly answers with ?I have an album to promote dummy. It’s not rocket science.? And here I thought he was one of those few rockers who did everything with integrity. Here?s his Super Bowl performance brimming with a shameless plug for his new album. Money truly drives people to do some very interesting things. Oh well, at least he didn?t have any wardrobe malfunctions to have people talking about him even more.
Source close to Britney Spears says that she will cancel her much anticipated, much hyped ?Circus? tour if her kids can?t come along for the ride. According to insiders, Brit, Kevin Federline and Jamie Spears have been working out a plan wherein the kids would be stationed in 3 different homes in New Jersey, New Orleans and LA and that KFed will get his own place at each spot too. Brit will also pay KFed an extra $4000 while she is on tour. However, KFed?s lawyers are apparently pissed that the three were making deals without their consent and are objecting to the proposed arrangements.
The nominations were announced for 51st Annual Grammy Awards. 2009 Grammy Award will take place on February 8, 2009.
Lil Wayne had the most nominations with eight. Coldplay was close seven nods, while Jay-Z, Ne-Yo, and Kanye West each had six.

Amy Winehouse is being advertised as one of the headliners at the annual Coachella music festival which will be held near Palm Springs, California this April. The official line up was just recently announced and Wino?s involvement was definitely nothing short of surprising. Is she even going to show up? If someone can convince herself to start working again instead of spreading her legs for every guy vacationing in St. Lucia, sure. If you?re not up to seeing Wino, the highlights of the festival include performances by Paul McCartney, The Killers, The Ting Tings, The Cure, Morrisey, Franz Ferdinand and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus have just released their long-anticipated album, Lonely Road. Produced by Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, Incubus), the collection features the single ?You Better Pray? which AOL Music just bestowed with their ?Video of the Day? honor. The band has also just premiered an alternate version of the video that strictly features the band in full performance. Both the new and original videos were helmed by Iranian director Tony Petrossian who has also worked with Taking Back Sunday, Rise Against, and Serj Tankian among others.
Lonely Road is available now on Virgin Records
