The Killers’ front man Brandon Flowers has a new interview with Spin magazine where he opens up about being a Mormon rock star. He said “I don’t know why I’m coming to terms with this right now, but in the last few months…I get asked about it a lot. If I were Catholic, no one would bat an eye. …People look at me like I’m an alien when they ask about Mormonism. It’s there in my music. It’s always been there. It’s obviously, it’s, um, it’s unavoidable.” You just can’t escape the third degree. And he hasn’t done anything! It’s not like he’s done anything like what Catholic Katy Perry did singing songs about lesbian tendencies.
Jonas Brothers are set to release the Soundtrack to their new movie, “Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience” on February 24th, three days before the film is slated to hit 3D theaters across the nation. The soundtrack includes old favorites like “Hold On” and “S.O.S” as well as live performances with Taylor Swift and Demi Lovato, a Shania Twain cover, and one new, never-before-heard studio recording called “Love Is On Its Way.” The highly anticipated film goes behind-the-scenes with Kevin, Joe and Nick on last year’s Burning Up Tour, following their every move along the way. 2008 was a record breaking year for Jonas Brothers where they took home six Teen Choice Awards, starred in Camp Rock, went platinum with their #1 debuting “A Little Bit Longer,” released “Burnin’ Up,” and became the youngest group to be featured on the cover of Rolling Stone. It has been announced that the newly released “Shout” video from thrashers BLACK TIDE will be featured on mtvU’s new artist show, The Freshman. Chris Cornell’s long-awaited Timbaland produced album, Scream, is reaching stores on 3/10. Chris has been keeping busy rehearsing with his new band and talking with his fans on his blog to gear up for the release. The front man hasn’t picked up an electric guitar since the break-up of his legendary group Soundgarden back in the late 90’s, but according to his latest blog entry on ChrisCornell.com, he’s thinking of busting them out for his upcoming tour:
“Hi people. Here is an open question. Since I got my guitars back I have been considering playing guitar live again. Who thinks I should pick it up again? I play guitar all day every day as I am always working on new songs. Let me know if you think I should hit it live. The king is dead. God save the king.”
Chris Cornell will be performing on Jimmy Kimmel live tonight, Friday, January 23rd – and free tickets are up for grabs. Scream hits stores on March 10
Gwen Stefani and her boys of No Doubt are going on tour this summer. They will also be joined by another female-fronted, predominantly male band, Paramore. Dates and locations have yet to be announced but Gwen says “The whole reason for going on this tour was to have fun, try on all our favorite songs again and to get inspired to make new music. It feels good to be all together again.” Paramore lead singer Hayley Williams also added “What a dream tour! We couldn’t be more excited to kick off 2009 by touring with a band like No Doubt.”
The lineup of participating acts for the 2009 SXSW Music Festival was recently revealed. There are hundreds of artists that will take part in the festival with hundreds more that aren’t even official participants but will be performing at one of the countless unsanctioned showcases during the mid-March festival in Austin. Katy Perry, Robyn, NERD, Eric Hutchinson, Chester French, Ultraviolet Sound and DJ Larry Tee were just some of the acts featured last year. I’m sure some of the biggest and most recognizable artists will be there this year. Check out the official website for a full list of all the participants and keep a look out for those advertising some unofficial participants.
A lot of celebrities showed up to give their support to President Barack Obama’s inaugural festivities in Washington DC. Beyonce and Bono were the headliners for the group of entertainers who kicked off the celebrations. Garth Brooks, Sheryl Crow, Josh Groban, James Taylor, Bruce Springsteen were just some of the performers who helped keep the parties going. Beyonce also sang the song to which Barack and his wife Michelle danced to. It seemed like everyone was in DC for the events that have gone on over the weekend up to the actual inauguration on Tuesday. Congratulations to the new President!

Few things are more exciting than watching Bush finally release America as his eight year hostage, but if anything could rival that news, it’s this: We are more than pleased to announce that we will have the honor of touring the US & Canada with punk rock legends RANCID this summer. If Tim Armstrong didn’t confirm it personally backstage in LA a few weeks ago, we wouldn’t believe it either.

Chicago’s punk rock outfit Rise Against has a new single ready to storm the modern rock radio charts. “Audience Of One” is already being played at some of the biggest radio stations in the country with the official add date still two weeks away. The video for “Audience Of One” makes its debut, today, Thursday, January 15th, on MySpace Music.
Directed by Brett Simon the video for “Audience Of One” was shot in Los Angeles last month and features the band performing in a miniature world on the White House lawn.
Rise Against released their fifth studio album, Appeal To Reason, on DGC/Interscope Records last fall and it debuted at #3 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart as well as spending one week at # 1 on the iTunes album chart. First single, “Re-Education (Through Labor),” was a top 2 hit at modern rock radio.
