We all expected U2?s to drop this fall. Then we receive some piece of bad news. The release has been pushed back to early 2009.
According to the band?s official statement, the band will continue to write and record material in the south of France until early next year.
They have also confirmed the news via an official statement from Bono and the boys on their official website.
According to the official statement, “This is our chance for us to defy gravity once again. We have what it takes, we have the songs, new rhythms and a guitar player who is not ready to re-enter earth’s atmosphere until he’s taken a slice of the moon!”
He adds, “It’s been fun, it’s been maddening? there have been injuries and recoveries, no babies born that I know of, but this one is nearly ready for the new year of 2009.”
The new album will be a follow up to their 2004 How to Dismantle An Atomic Bomb.
OMG it?s been thaaaaaaaat long?
The press release also says that “It?s a brand new chapter for us, and everyone we?ve played the tracks to has said that musically it feels like another departure.”
“The last two records were very personal, with a kind of three piece at their heart, the primary colours of rock – bass, guitars and drum. But what we?re about now is of the same order as the transition that took us from The Joshua Tree to Achtung Baby,” he says.
And according to Bono, there were about 50 or 60 new songs for the band to consider for their new album.
I just hope this press release is not an excuse or a cover up for some underlying problems the band is facing.
Rocker Will Hoge from Nashville, Tennessee is in critical condition after he was involved in a motor scooter accident last week. The 35-year old musician was hit when a van failed to yield while turning. His scooter then collided with the passenger side of the van which caused his injuries. Police reports say that there was no evidence of drugs or alcohol involved in the accident. But good news, his condition was later upgraded to stable and he only suffered broken bones and contusions. His promotion manager says ?Will’s friends and fans have been tremendous. We appreciate their continued support and prayers. Will is anxious to get back in the studio and on tour, and will do so as soon as his doctors allow.?
Malaysia tried hard but Avril Lavigne still exists. Despite the many attempts to shut down the Canadian singer?s inappropriate concert, the show still went on. As for Avril, she got an even bigger head from the ordeal saying ?Well, I’ve actually been approved by the government to play a show. I’ve already sold 10,000 tickets there, so I will be going to put on a concert for the fans.? She?s not letting go of those 10,000 tickets sold over there because she can?t sell that much for a whole tour over in the US. She adds ?They tend to, you know, sometimes not want Western artists in their country. I respect that, but at the same time, you know, there’s people that listen to music there and want to see their idols and stuff, so it’s all good: been approved by the government and [I'm] going to go put on a show and have fun.? Since when was she an idol?
What do you do when you join American idol and lose?
You join a MUSICAL!
Like the many other Idol alums such as Clay Aiken, another American Idol contestant is set to hit the Great White Way (although, I?d like to think that this is the last option for most of them)
The long-haired rocker Ace Young will be part of the cast of Grease on September 9th.
According to reports, Ace is set to take on the role of Kenickie.
It may not be the career they wanted, but at least there’s somewhere for the former idols to go to!
