Just to show how American Idol is on the edge of the music industry, this week’s show had a theme of Neil Diamond songs. I guess they forgot to say that it was the outer edge of the music industry they were on. The Idols sang two songs each this week, each having a turn before their 2nd song. Jason Castro sang ‘Forever in Blue Jeans’ and ‘September Morn’. David Cook sang ‘I’m Alive’ and ‘All I Really Need is You’. Brooke White sang ‘I’m a Believer’ and ‘I Am… I Said’. David Archuleta sang ‘Sweet Caroline’ and ‘America’. Syesha Mercado sang ‘Hello Again’ and ‘Thank the Lord for the Night Time’. And I thought Andrew Lloyd Webber week was lame.

Released by Hear Music, this record showcases McRae’s soulful smoky voice along with her piano skills and seasoned songwriting abilities. She’s backed by a powerful set of horns that were arranged by Charlie Calello, who has arranged music for legends such as Frank Sinatra and Bruce Springsteen. At 21 years old, McRae shines wise beyond her years as she draws upon past relationships and heartbreak to help craft many the messages behind the twelve songs on the record. The UK media is reporting that Victoria Beckham is in negotiations to be the next celebrity Pussycat Doll – and there’s a good chance that she will be. The Pussycat Dolls spokesperson Alisa Boushey said that “Victoria’s been in talks with the Dolls for some time and will be joining them onstage. She would have done it sooner, but it’s a question of her busy schedule. But it will be happening very soon.” If a deal does get inked, Victoria will join the likes of Christina Aguilera, Charlize Theron, Eva Longoria, Pam Anderson, Christina Applegate and Paris Hilton as celebrity Dolls.

If you were one of those people who Mariah Carey left high and dry at her CD signing at Universal City Walk last week, the curvaceous diva has arranged something for you in her efforts to make nice of what she did. Mariah left the event without signing the CDs for about 100 people that had been guaranteed that she would give her autograph. If you were one of the jilted fans, take the blue wrist band that was given to you with the purchase of her album back to the Hard Rock Café at City Walk on April 25. There will be people there who will arrange to have an autograph sent your way.
