Maxim magazine issued an apology to their readers for the mistake that they made after their music critic gave the Black Crowes’ new album ‘War Paint’ a less than stellar review despite the fact that the reviewer had yet to listen to the album. This rightfully peeved the band. Maxim has since posted an apology saying “It is Maxim’s editorial policy to assign star ratings only to those albums that have been heard in their entirety. Unfortunately, that policy was not followed in the March 2008 issue of our magazine and we apologize to our readers.” What – no apology to the Crowes?
New details about Madonna’s new album have been revealed. The disc now has a title. It’s going to be called ‘Hard Candy’ and it has a release date of April 29. The Queen of Pop’s rep Liz Rosenberg, tells Entertainment Weekly that Madonna chose to stick with the sweet theme because “she loves candy. It’s about the juxtaposition of tough and sweetness, or as Madonna so eloquently expressed ‘I’m gonna kick your ass, but it’s going to make you feel good.’” If the rest of the album sounds anything like the 17-second leak of her and Justin’s song, then it’s really going to make up feel good.
The Black Crowes just turned their evil eyes at Maxim magazine. The publication gave the band’s new album ‘Warpaint’ a scathing review in the March issue. While some may look at it as criticism, when the reviewer hasn’t even listened to the album, then that’s just being plain derogatory. Although no advance CDs have been made available, the magazine lists the album as having two and a half stars out of five and says that “it [the album] hasn’t left Chris Robinson and the gang much room for growth.” Ouch.
The AP is reporting that the band’s manager Pete Angelus said that Maxim explained the review as an educated guess. Right. How would they make a guess if they have absolutely nothing to base it on?
Johnny Borrell is reportedly trying to woo Natalie Imbruglia.
The Razorlight frontman - who was recently linked to ‘Harry Potter’ actress Emma Watson and previously dated Kirsten Dunst - is said to be smitten with the gorgeous Australian singer after meeting at a recent party.
A source said: “Johnny was instantly attracted to Natalie. He told her he was a huge fan and suggested they meet to discuss working together in the future.He gave her his phone number and whispered that he would love to see her again.”
Since the party on Valentine’s Day, Johnny and Natalie have spent hours talking on the phone. The source added: “There is definitely chemistry between them.”
Natalie, 33, has been single since splitting from husband Daniel Johns last year. Hollywood actress Kirsten recently dumped Johnny, 27, after she got fed up with his untidiness at the London home they shared.
MTV has committed a little mistake. The music video network had been advertising on their website that they have Britney Spears’ new video saying “Monday …we’re going to snitch a look at ‘Break the Ice’, the next music video from a way-under-the-radar performer by the name of Britney Spears.” I didn’t even know that the pop wreck already filmed a new video for the song. So guess what? The premiere isn’t going to happen. MTV has since pulled that little blurb from their site and released a statement saying “The video is NOT premiering on Monday.” Well duh! Maybe next time.
Paramore has just cancelled the remainder of their European tour and after posting an ominous message on their official blog, rumors are circulating that they may be breaking up. Let’s hope not!
Here’s what they had to say: “There are a lot of internal issues that have been going on in this band for quite a while now. A lot of it started right around the time we were gearing up for the RIOT Tour in the US. We were able to fight through all of it for this long but unfortunately we weren’t able to keep it together long enough to make it through ’til the end of this tour. We really feel that taking this time is going to give us a chance to get away and work out our personal issues at home and on our own terms. We just aren’t willing to risk the life of our band over one tour.”
I know you were tuned in to the results show of this week of American Idol. We were down to the Top 24, and it was time for 4 of them to go home - 2 guys, 2 girls.
The first contestant to be sent home was Garrett Haley, the likeable Leif Garrett lookalike. After that, they sent out Amy Davis, a talented but forgetable singer. Next for the guys was Colton Berry, another young one who Simon told to just “get a good job”. Finally, in a surprise move, Joanne Borgella was sent home for the girls.
It is sure to be a wild season full of surprises. We’ll see who ends up at the top in the end.
Hip hop producer, rapper and now, actor. will.i.am has been cast to play Kestrel/John Wraith in the new ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’ movie which is set for release next year. According to Wiki, the character he’s playing was part of Team X along with Wolverine, Sabretooth, Maverick, Mastodon, and Silver Fox. Kestrel is a powerful teleporter capable of getting the team out of sticky situations after their job was finished. His alter ego is John Wraith. Like the other members of Team X, he was given an artificial age suppressant so he was likely much older than he looked. His time as a secret agent and a member of the Weapon X program has left John somewhat paranoid. His house is a veritable death trap, as is the yard around it - John trusts no one.
Addled Pete Doherty has shown signs of supermodel syndrome, by refusing to get out of bed for less than $60,000. Alright for some!
The dishevelled Babyshambles singer turned down an offer of a one-day fashion shoot, saying the $10,000 fee was nowhere near high enough.
Management for Kate Moss’ ex-boyfriend, who reportedly managed to make a profit of just $60,161 in a year and has been offering to do gigs for a mere $200, said the “bare minimum” would be thirty grand.
It put Doherty, with his yellow teeth and pasty face, on a par with model Linda Evangelista, who once famously declared she would not get out of bed for less than ten thousand dollars.

The bad boy of Oasis Liam Ghallagher and the good girl of All Saints Nicole Appleton finally tied the knot in a secret ceremony in London on Valentine’s Day. Oh! How romantic! The couple has been together for almost 8 years which has given fruit in the form of a 7-year old son named Gene. Now they can be one big happy dysfunctional family!
The ceremony was small and intimate and was held at the Westminster Register Office. Noticeably absent from the ceremony was Liam’s brother Noel. Maybe his invitation got lost in the mail – or maybe he just wasn’t invited completely.
