Goldfrapp updated its MySpace blog and website with news of the upcoming album The Seventh Tree, which Mute will release on February 25, 2008. The dynamic electronic duo describes its new music as “gilded in the butterfly colors of an English surrealism shared from Lear to Lennon,” and the dreamy photo/typography collage on their homepage (not to mention the soothing background music) makes it pretty clear that they’re ready to take a break from the dance floor, for the time being, anyway. It’s about time, too — as irresistible as Black Cherry and Supernature were, the glam-rock inspired shuffle beat Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory popularized with “Train” and “Ooh La La” has popped up almost everywhere else, even on Britney Spears’ “Ooh Ooh Baby.” A reinvention of Felt Mountain’s lavish soundscapes just might be the freshest thing Goldfrapp could do. February is too far away!
Legally embattled rapper TI is a free man once again. A federal judge released him on $3 million bail on Friday. $2 million in cash bond and $1 million in property. He’s not fully free though because TI must remain under house arrest until his trial on weapons charges.
A spokesman for the US Attorney’s Office has confirmed that a private monitoring company will reside at TI’s home and that the rapper will have to subject to drug, alcohol and weapons searches at their discretion. Magistrate Judge Alan Baverman was the one who ordered the 24 hour monitoring of TI and that TI is actually the one who’s supposed to pay for the monitoring service.
TI is only allowed to leave his home for medical appointments and court appearances.
In Rainbows, as a title, implies a sense of comfort and delightfulness. Symbolically, rainbows are more likely to be associated with kittens and warm blankets than the grim and glum circumstances Radiohead are known for sound tracking.
Surprisingly, some of the album’s lyrics are even more personal/universal and straightforward than anything on The Eraser, the album made by Thom Yorke and Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich. “I’m an animal trapped in your hot car,” from “All I Need,” has to be one of the saddest, most open-hearted metaphors used to express unrequited love.
This effective weaving of disparate elements — lyrical expressions commonly associated with the band, mixed in with ones suited for everyday love ballads — goes for the music as well. The album is very song-oriented, with each track constantly moving forward and developing, yet there are abstract electronic layers and studio-as-instrument elements to prevent it from sounding like a regression.
Disney star Miley Cyrus recently got done with her sold-out opening of the Hannah Montana concert in St. Louis, Missouri this past weekend. This is what $1000 per ticket will get you. And just as she promised, she made the show worth it.
A few days ago, it was announced that her dad Billy Ray Cyrus and the piano player from High School Musical Olesya Rulin will headline Jim Amatulli’s drama ‘Flying By’. It’s a story of a business man who risks his marriage, family and fortune to pursue his dream of being in a rock band. I guess now that Miley’s busy with her own music, Billy Ray has to work without his daughter by his side.
This time Akon was nowhere near the stage when the drama occurred.
A free concert featuring the hip-hop star at Emory University in Atlanta was canceled Thursday afternoon after part of the outdoor stage collapsed during construction, injuring three people, two of them seriously. I feel really bad for the injured because they were there to have some with friends and this happens because the people who were responsible for putting the stage together must have messed up their work and as a result these poor chaps are now getting treatment. There can be insurance for everything and reimbursement for medical aid from hospital but these are some bad scars that are left on the 3 persons injured and it will take a long time to heal these scars on their minds. Thankfully Akon was not there or else his name would have been dragged into this and a controversy created by the media that wherever he goes there is an incident involving him.
If any hot blooded male was to see a sexy blonde clad in a bikini writhing around in the sand all wet, they’d think it’s hot. But when the blonde happens to be Heidi Montag, it all of a sudden just becomes hilarious.
Heidi and her fiancé Spencer Pratt decided to go cheap and film her new music video by themselves last week. And boy was it cheesy! Spencer acts as camera man, producer, director and even sound engineer. Nice boom box!
Heidi did her signature Mariah Carey-wannabe hand movements while dancing around on a jetty. A fisherman completely ignored them as they were filming.
This is a music video for Natasha`s new single titled “Love Like This” featuring Sean Kingston. Natasha recorded this new song to release it as the first single for the US edition of her latest album “N.B” that will be released on December 18th.
Check it Out!
T.I. may not be able to defend himself to the press because he’s in jail but his fellow rappers are speaking up for him about his recent legal troubles and even offering some words of advice for the troubled rapper.
Common says that T.I. should continue to pray saying “Know that God is with you. Know that He knows what the truth is and the truth is going to allow you to get out and be alright.” But what if he actually did it?
Wu Tang Clan co-founder RZA also had some words about T.I.’s troubles saying “One of my security guards said ‘Don’t you ever buy a gun, because you can afford all the security.’” They should have given T.I. that piece of advice long ago.
Well, it looks like this pitiful album art is definitely the cover of Britney Spears’ upcoming album ‘Blackout’ which is due out on October 30. And here I thought it was just a joke.
Her record label Jive is apparently very serious about her latest release because they just released a ‘Blackout’ commercial. Well, since Britney isn’t doing anything to promote the album like doing promotional tours and whatnot instead of running over people, I guess it’s just right that they push it as far as they can go.
But I still say that the album’s going to flop no matter how many die-hard Britney fans are still out there.
